I was only 3 years old when the bridge came tumbling down, but I remember my parents glued to the radio for updates. We lived in northern Alberta, but that just seemed 'way too close for comfort. Very glad that Stompin' Tom immortalized the tragedy and the loss of life.

Why this guy isn't talked about amongst canadians is criminal. This guy embodies what Canada should be. Alberta Slim was born in England, immigrated to Canada and fell in love with the country and the culture.

Each night I leave the bar room when it's over Not feeling any pain at closing time But tonight your memory found me much too sober Couldn't drink enough to keep you off my mind Tonight the bottle let me down And let your memory come around The one true friend I thought I'd found Tonight the bottle let me down I've always had a bottle I could turn to And lately I've been turnin' every day But the wine don't take effect the way it used to And I'm hurtin' in an old familiar way Tonight the bottle let me down And let your memory come around The one true friend I thought I'd found Tonight the bottle let me down Tonight the bottle let me down

My husband intervied Martin Hartwell after the crash in the barron lands, he was in the Stanton Yellowkknife Hospital at the time, and my husband Steve Hook interviewed him. Steve called a lawyer to the hospital, a friend of ours and I cannot devulge the lawyers name, all was covered up until someone from CBC Toronto came up to interview Martin. I know what the man said to my husband and I have never told anyone. How did Tom Connors know anything about this.
