The final culmination part of the LP is here! Even tho Mr Dark's Dare in Candy Chateau is a pretty challenging final level, it's still a pretty short buildup to the final boss fight with Mr Dark. The first phase is practically piss easy hence the frying pan surf premise on top of the ice cream platforms plus the ice slip physics basically do part of the work for the player and the only thing left to do is just jump at precise points at the correct times, otherwise it's momentum rebuild damage control from that point forward unless you sacrifice one life of course. I personally found Dark Rayman to be a cool concept in itself, especially with the fact that it's literally the Rayman sprite model with recoloured textures to fit the premise, despite the chase predicament with duplicate moves plus the one touch death penalty. The platforming in the second phase alone was already a challenge in itself and putting Dark Rayman in the mix took it to the next level. The reversed left and right directional controls curse partially takes the piss, especially with the platforming itself already being challenging enough as it is with the present bombs and stuff, even tho you can get used to them, but then again it still doesn't help that the curse drops at such a critical point in the level tho. Altho the automatic running curse makes you have to jump at specific times, it's unironically not as challenging as the frying pan premise in the first phase and it only lasts for a short period of time anyway. Mr Dark practically holds the fist punch powerup hostage and makes Rayman go through a few jump puzzles per se at the start of the final boss fight, but that's pretty much it for the main antagonist since you just proceed to fight a mixture of previous boss fights to finish it off, which is pretty anticlimactic, but apart from that the entire level itself is still one action packed process to put yourself through. The entire game itself is always fun to play plus it was a great project for a 1995 release! I would agree that the level of challenge is comparable to the Castlevania games even tho they have their own element of challenge. This entire LP was fun to watch as it was interesting to see the game from your perspective with your approach towards its completion plus I anticipate yet even more entertainment for the future LP's of interest and in general! Best of luck with future projects! 😎

Pretty much backtracking continuation going on over here. I would have said the LP would have been better off with all cage placement backtracking segments to feature in one single part since both of these parts weren't that long and were actually pretty short compared to the proper parts, but you did mention in the commentary intro that you've forgotten about some sections and skipped a few parts, so I presume this part was mitigation for that. The cages do seem like it's a lot of effort to backtrack to only if far too many were left behind, purely based on the fact that some could have easily been picked up on the primary level visits to start with, but this level of damage control is the price people pay for overlooking even the simplest of key portions within each level in the first place. The problem with having a certain portion extent at the top of the gameplay screen region being overcropped during the backtracking sessions also still persists in this part, but ofc that's a separate issue altogether. Apart from that it was wise to revisit the Crystal Palace level, especially from a presentation perspective, hence it was previously skipped altogether as part of the main adventure itself in the LP. In addition, this part still kept the same level of entertainment value as the previous part plus I anticipate yet even more entertainment for the future final LP part building up to the final boss fight itself! 😎

Straight off the bat I like all the creative polish touches per se to the video with the cage counter (featuring the Rayman Origins cage sprite to represent it interestingly enough) plus the transitions between level phases to skip over to the main points and cut out all the surrounding segment pieces. From a gameplay perspective in terms of backtracking it was smart to utilise drop out signs and previously earned powerup fixtures whenever possible in order for the entire process to play more in your favour with the best of your abilities of course. I can understand why you didn't opt to provide commentary for this part hence the entire format premise you were shooting towards in order to emphasise the whole point of the video. The one thing I don't get tho is a certain portion extent at the top of the gameplay screen region being overcropped. I'm not sure whether or not that was done on purpose and if so I'm sure you had your reasons but if not then consider it a minor blunder in that case. Despite that this was well put together. This part was its own presentation theme of entertainment compared to the rest hence the format plus I anticipate yet even more entertainment for the future final LP part building up to the final boss fight itself! 😎

This final level in The Cave Of Skops has the entire first phase practically spoonfeeding all the cages especially in the most conspicuous/semi-conspicuous places. As a result it makes the platforming within the phase itself look tougher to complete in comparison. Mr Skops Stalactites really does start off with a pretty short and straightforward procedure in general, making it feel more like a fast-paced level phase compared to the previously more complex levels, inevitably giving players whiplash in the process. The final two phases that make up the Mr Skops boss fight encounter sort of build up the sense of challenge due to the fact that separately they both respectively present one simple premise each, the first one with the chase the and the second one with the actual boss fight, which creates the illusion of it being an extremely hard boss fight overall for newcomers based on how much the player is put through across two separate phases put together. The full picture should become clear to them once they split the pieces apart and see the entire process for what it actually is. Overall this is a short level with overexaggerated difficulty presentation. Btw yep, you were right to point all that out purely based on the level design. This part was pretty entertaining plus I anticipate yet even more entertainment for future LP parts especially since the backtracking begins in the next part onwards, building up to the final boss fight itself! 😎
@COOLPRO1952 ай бұрын
I personally found The Cave Of Skops to have a cool atmosphere depsite its difficulty spike in the game with the purple flying ring jump splits and traps 'n' stuff. Perhaps you've already clocked by now that you completely skipped past recording Crystal Palace straight over to Eat At Joe's at this point. Space hopper platform sections plus the water cave phase with the saber-thooth piranhas were a childhood pisstake for plenty of people that have actually made it this far back in the day such as ourselves, that's for sure. Btw when it comes to having a backlog of content building up project after project it really does pile on the amount of work in the uninished business department per se. It's great to see you actually putting more time into editing your videos especially to a gradual extent at least. Great initiative taking the extra step in improving upon production value! Apart from the level skip blunder this was still pretty entertaining with whatever you have to offer as a commentator on top of that! It certainly made this part fun even more to watch plus I aniticipate practically the same for future upcoming LP parts! 😎
@COOLPRO1952 ай бұрын
The actual Space Mama's Crater boss fight was certainly a pisstake from the start for most people. In the end it's all about placements plus making the right moves at the right times and you're sorted. Ofc it's easier said that done but you get used to it over time. I can't blame you skipping chunks of your boss fight session itself tho especially with how repetitive it all gets if you end up spending way too much time encountering pisstakes. Great job picking up that final missed cage before moving on from the level completely as well! I'm just catching up with the remaining parts here. Fun to watch as per usual! 😎

Interesting type of preview teaser for the next upcoming part in the LP! I have to agree that Rayman 1 has really cool backgrounds and even further into the game the backgrounds get even cooler as you progress. In the PS1 version they’re pretty great, in the Sega Saturn version there’s a greater variety of backgrounds which becomes more noticeable in Picture City plus is even more epic and in the PC version some of the backgrounds were amended to have parallax scrolling which is pretty dope! That’s part of why it makes it difficulty for me personally to pinpoint a definitive base version of the game before future releases of the game ended up being cheap ports of the PC version. Space Mama’s Crater was always a tough level with its overall structure plus the boss fight itself, which always took the piss for newcomers. I can see the extra lives cheat code panned out to bear fruit in your situation especially for the later points in the game that feature considerably more dangerous platforming concepts per se. I presume the boss fight took the piss that much in this LP to the point where you decided to split this part up into two separate parts, so the next part should perhaps be a pisstake collection montage to anticipate! Despite all that it costs nothing to persist and persevere and this game is certainly worth the time and patience. You certainly have the correct mindset right there bro. In terms of production the screen crop issue still persists from the previous part plus for some reason the audio mixing is all over the place compared to all the previous parts to my past recollection. With that being the case I would recommend people to watch this part on a PC with speakers instead of a headset or just watch it on a tablet or smartphone of any type. I don’t know what was up with the minor parts of lag spikes tho. That looks and sounds like a PC issue from a general standpoint. Apart from that this was still a pretty entertaining part to watch regardless and I’ll be sure to stay tuned for future upcoming parts of the LP! 😎

Great to see the Rayman LP continuation as previously promised! It was an interesting start to Pencil Pentathlon with your grips of the game being all over the place to start with but ofc you got the picture in the end! (pun partially intended) xD They really were creative with the backgrounds in this game, that's for sure. This is pretty much the final level that utilises the super-helicopter power in the entire game plus that makes that specific phase one of my favourite phases in the enitre game despite its own individual difficulty spike. The rebound rubber maze phase that takes place afterwards would typically come off as a pisstake at first to be fair, but at the same time once a player learns the game's mechanics and how to approach each scenario in order to accustom themselves to the game, it's actually pretty manageable and not that much of a predicament over-exaggeration to be honest. While we're on that topic, it's true when you say whether or not Rayman 1 is a decent game is a matter of perspective, since the difficulty spikes in the game practically clouds their judgement and make out the game is extremely balls droppingly hard when it's nothing compared to games like Battletoads and Super Meat Boy. This game sure is challenging in its own case but if a player builds up a decent level of competence over time, they'll soon enough come to realise and appreciate the creativity and decency of the game itself and what it represents, therefore a player's level of competence is no reason to completely trash a game whatsoever. It's just outright fucking bullshit. Btw I clocked that the gameplay screen region was partially overcropped on the top and bottom edges for some reason especially with the HUD (Heads-Up Display) just about touching the top of the video resolution canvas by a slight tip but apart from that the part was still watchable from a general standpoint regardless to say the least. I'm sure that the rest of the upcoming LP parts will be just as entertaining as all the current parts uploaded at present! :)

It’s interesting how Mr Stone’s Peaks is practically split 50/50 with the use of the super-helicopter power phial across the 4 main level phases before the final 2 phases with the Mr Stone boss fight plus the running power pickup premise being the 1 final power upgrade in the game. It was cool how the super-helicopter power made Rayman’s hair turn blue and purple in the main home console versions of the game. Controlling the super-helicopter power itself was pretty much button pressure intensive in terms of escalation in order to maintain survival. The phases themselves were practically an individual type of maze one after the other to navigate through on top of that. Picture City and The Caves Of Skops are the last couple of worlds before facing Mr Dark in the final world Candy Chateau. Picture City for now is the next world plus difficulty spike is up next! We’ll see how it pans out bro! XD

@@AussieWombatGaming You’re welcome mate! No problem at all! I practically grew up with the entire franchise myself with the first Rayman game coming out on my birth year 1995 as the starting point so it pretty much resonates with me on a personal level plus it was personally harmonic to watch a new LP on it after such a long time. The cage placements themselves changed only once starting with the PC version that came out in 1996 then every single port that came out after that release used the PC version as a base, which is pretty interesting, therefore keeping the exact same final cage placements from when they were last swapped around.

Time for a proper start in Blue Mountains! Twilight Gulch adds that bit of a difficulty spike to the game even tho it’s a semi-calm start to it per se. I have to admit that final cage up top in the first phase is ridiculously stupid to access on the first attempt especially with the running power to be fair. It’s possible to do but requires a lot of precision to pull off in terms of grappling onto that purple flying ring leading up to that secret area up top. The following phase with the Mr Stone chase partially pumps up the intensity of the platforming concept itself but apart from that it’s pretty calm as it partially settles down with the level of danger the player is dealing with in comparison.
@COOLPRO1953 ай бұрын
For the record Mr Sax’s Hullaballo has the exact same completion parameters as The Swamps Of Forgetfulness, Allegro Presto and Gong Heights with no backtracking requirements whatsoever for even one single cage apart from the Mr Sax boss fight taking place after the main level phase. You did your best on both fronts to be fair. You were pretty close in getting all the cages on the first visit plus you’ve had a tough fight with Mr Sax in which you’ve eventually prevailed with and that certainly counts for something.
@COOLPRO1953 ай бұрын
So you’ve jumped back into the Band Land continuation and for the record Gong Heights is practically the third level of the game where all cage placements are in conveniently reachable positions that just require a bit more exploration rather than just ploughing ahead, exactly like The Swamps Of Forgetfulness and Allegro Presto. The only difference structure wise is the introduction of harder platforming concepts put into the mix. In spite of how much extra backtracking this piles on top, you’ve still done pretty well completing the level itself period for what it’s worth. Good call on backtracking to Anguish Lagoon and clearing that level up, which partially makes up for overlooked blunders ‘n’ all. Your pathway to completion is still fun to watch on top of it all.
@COOLPRO1953 ай бұрын
Straight off the bat you’ve discovered soon enough that there was no point in starting Blue Mountains entering Twilight Gulch without the ring grapple power. Moskito’s Nest was indeed your next best bet at that point, which you had a pretty decent run of it on the first visit for your case. Moskito boss fight was certainly a step up from the Bzzit boss fight for sure. Plus it’s interesting how Cuphead took inspiration from oldschool platformers with the concepts of these boss fights.
@COOLPRO1953 ай бұрын
As long as you’re having fun in your own LP that’s what counts the most. With that being the case the 99 lives cheat code doesn’t really change anything from my perspective, especially taking the overall difficulty level of this particular game into account. Allegro Presto has the exact same full level completion aspects as The Swamps Of Forgetfulness with all the cage placements being put in conveniently reachable places yet you still skipped plenty of cages that would require a more in-depth level of exploration there, even if it does mean taking certain platform risks per se. This game practically makes people think especially with the background notification sound effects playing a vital part in hinting at the player at certain points in the game. Apart from overlooked blunders, this part was still fun to watch from your own gameplay presentation of the game.

@COOLPRO195 Don't worry. I go back and collect the cages later. I finished the entire let's play. I also agree. It's more so about having fun and just enjoying the game overall. Kinda the point of why I start my channel in the first place.
@COOLPRO1953 ай бұрын
@@AussieWombatGaming Yep that’s practically the best reason to start up a KZbin channel or pretty much any channel tbh otherwise it’ll just turn into a pointless grind only for your overall presence to become a sellout further along the path later on down the line. It’s great to know that the LP itself is actually complete at this point in time and it’s just a case of uploading the rest of the parts right now. You could not have started the LP at a better time on top of that, especially considering it’s on one of the best games of all time.
@COOLPRO1953 ай бұрын
It turns out you skipped Moskito’s Nest the final level of The Dream Forest and jumped straight into Band Land at this point. Apart from all the minor pisstakes and setbacks you gave Bongo Hills a fairly decent shot. This level would typically require both the ring grapple power plus the helicopter power in order to get that final cage on the top right corner within the thunderstorm phase.
@COOLPRO1953 ай бұрын
There’s always a certain sweet spot to hit in terms of duration depending on whatever’s at stake at the current point within the game. That’s all too relatable bro. The Swamps Of Forgetfulness requires literally no backtracking whatsoever with how all the cage placements are in the most conveniently reachable places possible but the option to backtrack for previously missed lives also never does anyone any harm depending on how it all pans out. Btw that particular plum up top respawns faster if you refresh that specific part of the screen by patrolling back and fourth from the left side as opposed to the right side of that section, which would have been a helpful tip prior to this gameplay session taking place, but what’s done is done now. Jumping up on top of that hanging plum and proceeding to climb that vine up top on the following phase would have spawned another cage at the starting point, but the exact same previous sentiment applies. At least you backtracked afterwards. To be fair it’s understandable in your case presumably due to the possibility that you haven’t played the game in such a long time. It was interesting seeing you figure it out as you recalibrated yourself with the game for sure.
@COOLPRO1953 ай бұрын
It’s interesting how oldschool games like this can have common ground with games released 20+ years later like Cuphead in terms of the specific methods they use to present themselves. Btw they’ve made Anguish Lagoon simple enough for the second level with its series of phases, especially the ones featuring the Bzzit character.

Paying a revisit to the original Rayman with a simple playthrough after so long is always fun as it’s a proper sick game! It’s nice that you’re doing your own Let’s Play of this game regardless of LP’s being an outdated concept at this point in time with live streams in the picture. Regardless of that state of the LP scene, it’s interesting that each content creator has their own unique type of presentation and commentary material in general to offer per se. So far this LP pretty fun to watch especially with what Rayman 1 has to offer. Pink Plant Woods would typically require 2-3 visits minimum depending on whichever version of they game you’re playing and seeing as you’re playing the PS1 version it would take a minimum of 1 backtracking session resulting in just 2 visits to complete hence the hanging power up is literally in the next level. Great start to The Dream Forest world for what it’s worth tho! 😎

Cool that you decided to give the original Rayman a shot on air as it’s a proper sick game. I’m not surprised you stopped part way in the middle of Band Land hence de-rusting after not playing the game for a while is a whole recalibration challenge in itself on top of the game’s overall difficulty. Great to hear that you like platform games as well since that’s always been an awesome genre of games and one of the best video game genres period. I presume it’ll be worth giving your Let’s Play of this game a shot on top of that! It’s pretty wholesome to cross paths with even more likeminded people! 😎
