So if what if you have the patient on multiple iv drugs? Like a Septic patient on numerous pressors? Do you have to have one unit for each medication?
@lizbarrett32483 ай бұрын
They have those giant triple pumps which is basically the three separate units in one box.
@jlmcgrot2 ай бұрын
You keep adding pumps. This is basically a one channel pump with Y-side for channel B. Drugs have to be compatible since it’s the same tubing. Critical care units have specialty poles so they can just keep stacking pumps. It’s dumb, really.

How many nurses does it take to load a syringe in an aleris pca pump? 6... 6 nurses in my room and not one listening to me tell them that this video will help them. They were going to wait for a tech to come, and I need my meds. I waited until all of them left, rang my bell, showed my nurse this video, and voila! 30 seconds later, the syringe is loaded. I kept telling them to put the phalanges UNDER the gray latch, not above! This is definitely the C-squad of nurses this morning because how is it possible to have 6 nurses not know how to load a new syringe in the pca?🤦🏾♀️

THESE ARE WONDERFUL pumps! I've been on them several times, including in ICU recently when I was on Propofol, Fentanyl, Norepinephrine, and Vasopressin. I was VERY sick, and in critical condition. But, I'm doing better now. These pumps are WONDERFUL though!

How do you pause these pumps if patient needs to use bathroom?

This my concer also. Coz i just stop the infusion, when im returning it, it will alarm after i think mins after connecting it to patient’s heplock.
@clarrisaneal27063 ай бұрын
You can press the “stop” button and the “standby” option will display on the screen. Press standby and it will ask again, “are you sure you want to put line A/B in standby?” Press yes and it will be set to standby. When the pt returns simply press “start”, again it will ask if you are sure you want to start line A/B, press yes again.

Not very helpful. You glossed over tubing and how it affects the running of the pump. When you hung the secondary bag there was a dependent loop at the pump. Dependent loops at the pump or y-site can eventually cause the pump to alarm or stop working. I work nights in a hospital. I have to change maintenance fluids and start medication with existing tubing. If the pump has been running with a dependent loop, It will alarm and stop running when I replace fluids. I run into this problem all the time. The info on the Bolus was helpful. 0328

Sir, this was a very informative video , but a demonstration of attaching/strapping the mattress to the bed frame, would really have been helpful; I’ve looked online, and was surprised that the manual instruction, manufacturers guide left this information out, as far as what I could see. Thank you.

Thank you. After listening to my wife’s go off for 2 hrs waiting on a nurse to come in this helped me turn off her iron and start back the other stuff ;-)
@lizbarrett32483 ай бұрын
You really shouldn’t do that. It could be very dangerous and is technically illegal.

ER Tech here (medic student too), thank you for going in depth as much as you could with this. My unit uses these and they don’t train techs on this, but I wanted to learn more in case I have to transfer a patient and their blood transfusion or dopamine gets interrupted, at least I’ll have the knowledge on how to fix the issue instead of shit hitting the fan and me giving the answer “I didn’t know what to do”
