also I feel like my fish don’t like to swim up to high for their food but it gets messy and everywhere so that’s what I’m thinking of getting one, but if My fish don’t swim up high i’m worried they won’t go up and eat their food.

I think they give birth so much their inside collapse and pass away perhaps. It's typical for mother fish or octopus to pass away after birth and their young eat the remains . Perhaps the Same with guppies. Just a speculation. I've always put treatment in the water also tapeworms would come from their backend. Which I've never seen .

🤔 I'm lost, how is putting crappy dirty water back into the tank a water change 🤨 lol
@TPASSAquatics2 ай бұрын
I explained here that I moved this 30 gallon tank from another room and was putting this water back. I wasn’t about to do a full 30 gallon water change. I probably did about 10 gallons of new water after this to get it to the top. It’s that color due to the tannins from the wood in the tank.

The 5 in 1 meter does not read PH well in moving water, you have to get a little of the tank water in a cup then test it. Let it sit in water till it locks on to the PH and numbers don't move. Also, did you rinse it in a cup of distilled water before moving to the next calibration solution?

That's on a 10gal? and you said it may go ok for a 15gal? I know the QuietFlow says up to 20gal, but this makes me think to grab the next size up for my 20gal, though next step up says up to 30gal... Just trying to avoid a whirlpool. :D

Just me back again, I'd suggest strong UV filter and regular scrubbing of aquarium surfaces. Fish TB can cause this. For me it started with 1 then snow balled, in the end it killed all of them including fry. So I'll never have guppies again as here they seem to have it. The bacteria can also colonize the tank btw.

Eventually the leaves that are submerged will go to wilt and start melting. It will throw roots and anything that makes it above the surface will continue to grow. But I have never been able to get more than 2-3 months on a submerged one before they begin showing stem rot. I have successfully glued clippings to rocks and submerged them until they start to throw roots. Just to add foliage to a tank. Once they do set roots I then take them out and pot them in a rim holder.
@alans42817 ай бұрын
Make a video in two or three years please not in two or three months. Of course anything can survive under flood water or in the wet season high water but even adult trees eventually die in a newly made lake. My experience with pothos is that once you get established roots growing viciously fish do eat the WHITE new growth roots without any deaths. Some species of fish eat it more than others. I kept the indoor plant sold as bamboo alive in water for almost two years before it eventually died. The bamboo was not actually growing .

Im thinking the bottom leaves will probably melt or die off once it starts etablishing itself outside the tank. Pothos are oretty resilient and hardy so it dosent shock me that a well etablished and stable plant gene pool could adapt so fast:) . Ive got some Marble Queens rooting in my betta tank , rhe foliage is out of the water tho

I've been trying different house plants the last few months. I found that you CANNOT plant a spider plant in gravel and have it fully submerged. I have a snake plant piece that broke off so I tried planting it in a 55-gallon with it going from gravel to 4 " above water. I've seen no change in months. I've had pothos with leaves above water in both my 55-gallon goldfish tank and 29-gallon tropical tank. Leaves look equally good in both although goldfish have eaten all root runners while roots extend up to 4" on the topical with small fish. Given that some clipping are 3', I may want to plant the roots causing some leaves to be under water, but still having a foot outside.

Surface dividers are a godsend for floating plants! Especially if you have high turbulence zones on the surface.

If you join piece airline tubing into a ring and have spare suction cup handy you can make these yourself. I also use them to keep floating plants from 'swimming all around the surface with water movement...they stay nicely on one place and where I want them.

I am not positive but I do not think so. It seemed to be unrelated in my case. I am not seeing it as much now however. I did some things to raise my water hardness and I think it might have been a developmental thing in my case as it was only happening to my females and not males.

Not convinced it's genetics. Kept endlers and guppies for a few years. It's only when I brought some new endlers in I saw the wasting disease show up on the new fish. I quickly removed them. I ended up removing two or 3. After that never saw it again. It's hard trying to cure it. Sadly I don't bother trying now.

In my experience turn off all electronic devices in your liquid before making your readings. Preferably removing any heating devices so they are not emitting any residual energy. Your pH readings may stabilize.
