When I was a child we had a beach hut on “the prom” just past Thorpe Bay. I walked out to it, first with my parents...(towed through the gulleys in a little rubber boat) when I was very young, then from about 11 years old, with friends. I lost count of how many times we made that wonderful trip. We were taught about the dangers of the tides, we went out at exactly the right time, too soon when the tide is ebbing, and you can get pulled out with the tide in in gulleys. We knew when it was time to get back to shore. Sadly there have always been idiots who don’t respect the sea or the tides, and get caught out. It’s so easy to get cut off as the fast moving tide circles around the sand banks faster than anyone can walk. Respect the sea. As they say in Barbados...”the sea ain’t got no back door.”

Thank you for posting that, just bloody wonderful! what a quality recording that is, I watched it at 1440s HD, superb and at high tide too, what a credit to Southend, I did not see one bit of litter on the whole journey. Cheers A Price.

I moved out of Southend last July, I miss the place so much, the whole sea front you just shown I used to travel along every day it almost brought a tear. I'm going to have to move back one day soon, simply because I Love Southend on Sea. I feel for, and know many of the business owners the length of the sea front, I really do worry about their lively hoods and just how they are coping in this pandemic. Thank you for this upload :)

just saying, don't ever try to walk out to this, i once tried with friends and not only is the sand real sinking sand but you could get cut off and pulled away by riptide currents (talking from experience)
@GGritsun
@GGritsun 4 жыл бұрын
Gowage We had a beach hut in Thorpe Bay, and i have lost count of the times we walked to the Mulberry Harbour. I last walked out 3 weeks ago. There is no sinking sand, and you need to go barefoot. However the danger of getting cut off is very real. What you are talking about are not rips, but narrow gulleys (channels) where the tide ebbs, if you go too soon, you can get pulled out in them. If you want to walk out, check the tides. You must let the tide go out far enough so there is very little “pull” through the gulleys. You must have turned around and be walking back before the tide comes in. There is usually about 30 mins of slack water before the tide starts to come in. Do NOT wait until the tide turns. It flows in a type of circle which is why so many people can get cut off. Don’t go out on a spring tide. Respect the sea and enjoy it safely. Remember....”the sea ain’t got no back door”

Thanks: I conducted a cycle ride yesterday and mounted the Osmo Pocket horizontically on my bike on one side of my handlebar and my Sony HDR AS300 Action Cam on the other side. (The AS300 has the same optical stabilization as the FDR X3000), and nothing comes close to it's quality-not even the GoPro 7. The Sony blew the OSMO Pocket out of the water! Unless I was doing something wrong, this is not a camera for mounting on the bike. I might try a helmet mount later on. Seriously considering selling it unless I can wrap my head around some beneficial uses for it.

you're definitely doing something wrong, the gopro hero 7 black is better than as300 when mounted on bikes.

This might not be the jitters seen when an action camera is attached to the bike, but rather "jello" caused by the gimbal trying to compensate for the minute movements. The footage is very smooth because of the 3 axis stabilization, but the jelloing is distracting. A helmet mount while riding, would be actually smoother than hand-held while walking, and should neutralize the jelloing. If the jello is still there, then to me, this might not be a product that can replace my Garmin Virb Ultra 30.

Jello but mainly focus watch video close whe I jump and Goes out of focus, I now have watched many other videos and they all the same issue with focus lens jumping about. Anyone having one try gently knock while recording and watch back closely is not jello is focus pissing about.

Thank you for this. I was seriously considering the Osmo for recording rides, but this is a deal breaker. I'll just keep my Sony FDR X3000 or consider the Hero 7 Black. Update: Final decision - keep FDR X3000 for my action camera, but get the OSMO for everyday and travel.

I was looking for such review. - Thank you My Osmo is on the way. One major feature I would like to have it filming my Road and MTB bike rides. So your video didn't make may day... that's a bummer... Some portions I could film by hand as replacement for my iPhone, but a mounted option is needed as well. Hopefully a Chest harness that will hold the Osmo far enough from the chest so the view screen is visible and buttons are accessible.

I have the Sony X3000 too and it is great when mounted. Got the OP and shot a few clips I am pretty happy about. The handheld output is smooth and sharp, But on the DH I had to put it back in my jersey pocket so I can ride with 2 hands... It was great to have this information and see your test. Maybe if the osmo pocket was fixed in the body it would work better. But from what I see it does not seem to be a good idea to use the bike.

Well, looks like somebody needs to come up with a new accessory ( Pocket bile mount or Pocket Z-axis ??) to fix this. Since you already have a device can I ask you to experiment further? Like riding same course with 1)fast gimbal speed x 60fps, 2)fast x 30fps, 3)slow gimbal speed x 60fps and 4)slow x 30fps? That might help some people meanwhile. Thanks
@aprice4905

here is no fix , as focusing lens constantly gets shifted out of place , coursing this refocusing issue , I have tried all possible scenarios , settings , issue persist . Only when i take in to my hand issue goes away as my hand absorbs all the bumps . Like i said , gimbal performs perfectly and if it had fixed focus then , this video would not exist . Most reviews are using purely in hand walking or light jogging and I do NOT believe in DJI advert , and think is fake where is set up on dog , unless it was prototype with possible fixed focus .

A Price: I see, we'll see if they can do something with software side. By the way, those bike mount and Z-axis for OSMO absorbs bumps pretty good.
@aprice4905

To clarify , there is no issues with gimbal itself , but focusing lens inside camera struggling with little knocks and as on impact gets shifted out of its place . it quickly tries to refocus , thous giving such unstable video .

I found a new video about a bicycle use, check this out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fX7ReaeZhZl1bKc (03:30~ ). He mounted OSMO Pocket on his helmet using modified GoPro accessory. He also inserted GoPro (neck mounted) footages to compare. Please pay attention to the upper right corner for which is which. When he mounted it on the handle (17:17~ ) it started shaking like yours.
