Hi, thanks , the liquid is a blackening agent, I use it to enhance surface details, or give a rustic antique look, the agent here that I'm using is potassium sulfate 🙂

Nice work, impressive. What does this talisman represent? Also, I didn't see it posted, but the opening music is Amélie Theme - Comptine d'un autre été.
@goofyandalittlewild2 ай бұрын
Thank you so much, really glad you liked it! This talisman was created for a client whose life has been deeply influenced by the balance of luck and peace. The mammoth tusk and silver inlay were chosen specifically for their personal meaning to them. and you're absolutely right about the music, it’s Comptine d’un autre été from Amélie. I forgot to mention it, but it’s beautifully played by @shadesofpiano . I’ve added a link to his channel in the description definitely worth checking out!
@Denpachii2 ай бұрын
@@goofyandalittlewild I didn't really catch it from your cut, but it is a nifty "mashup" of Comptine d'un autre été and Another Love. Thanks for the link!

Its awesome, definitely some wintery vibes. I really like the 2 different metals on the same side, the silver catches light in such a way it almost seems to change colors. The contrast looks 🤌 so good.
@goofyandalittlewild2 ай бұрын
Thanks a ton.. The idea to use two different metals on the same side was actually the client's suggestion, and I think it worked out really well. I love how the silver plays with the light too, it almost feels alive with the way it shifts. Really glad you picked up on that, and your feedback seriously makes my day :)

As always, it is lovely. I saw the thumbnail and thought you would be using the method where you cut a strip, tapping it in as you go. But this is even more impressive, with some light wood block printing sprinkled in there lol. Just doing the outline like that, so delicate 👏. What kind of care instructions do you give people that buy your pendants? I was thinking wood oil, but I was not sure if that would be a problem with the silver
@goofyandalittlewild2 ай бұрын
Thank you! I’m glad you picked up on the detail here. The strip method is solid, but I wanted a different flow for this one, more of an organic fusion of silver and wood. For care, you're spot on with wood oil, something light like tung or mineral oil works wonders to maintain the wood’s depth and luster. Just be mindful of the silver, too much oil can dull its finish over time. A soft cloth or gentle polish every so often will keep it looking bright without interfering with the wood. Appreciate your thoughtful question and attention to detail :)
@calross50082 ай бұрын
@@goofyandalittlewild I think you achieved your goal, it feels very organic. The shots of annealing the silver while the paper burned off were very nice, almost looked like it was blooming. Thanks for answering my questions, its very nice to be able to talk to someone with such a wealth of knowledge about a craft. A craft that combines many skills too, my favorite kind of craft.

Could you also have used the ironwood to cast a mold, and cast the inlay with the mold? Or like a lost wax or something?
@goofyandalittlewild3 ай бұрын
Great question! You wouldn’t use the Ironwood directly to cast the inlay because it’s too hard and dense for that. However, you could use it to carve a pattern or model for a lost wax cast, where you'd create a wax version of the inlay, make a mold around it, and then pour molten silver in. So, while the wood itself isn’t used to cast, it could be part of the process as a shaping tool.
