These upscaled videos you’ve been uploading are utterly fantastic. It’a particularly amazing with the nore obscure clips like this one - they were so hard to find before, and the video quality was atrocious. It’s crazy what AI can accomplish with a bit of human guidance. Thanks SO much dude! 🙏

Gloriously majestic. The best version I’ve ever heard. And the crowd absolutely ADORE it - the energy in that crowd must have been utterly electrifying ! 🙏

I wish they released a studio version of thIs track - “Sinple Peal” is utterly magnificent, but it has quite a different vibe to this version.

Anyone else have an inexplicable fondness for “Dun Shepherd”? When Rick & Karl embrace the experimental, the music that ensues is always quite striking, and if nothing else it’s at least guaranteed to be interesting. My only criticism of this album is “Monkwy Wink” - it’s single synth and rain sounds, and as such it would’ve worked fine as an interlude, but as legitimate 3+ minute segment.. I don’t know, I just feel like they could’ve filled that space with something a with a little more depth and progression.

It's hypnotic, understated, subtle, evocative... it’s insane to me that I was once indifferent to it. Always makes me envision some kind of mind-blowingly elaborate machinery, far in the distant future, rapidly constructing some unimaginably massive edifice, endlessly spiralling upwards into the sky. The entire album maintains that palpably futuristic, mechanical atmosphere.

My Underworld conspiracy theory is that this EP, the “Phonestrap” EP and the largely-unreleased “Autotrader” EP were intended as the start of a series akin to the Riverrun trilogy, but for whatever reason they gave up on the idea and quietly released the two finished EPs with absolutely no fanfare. And then, every “Autotrader” track except for the 4th disappeared into the aether, aka discarded in a grungy cardboard box in the basement of Rick’s studio. The 4th “Autotrader” was hastily appended to the final part of “Phonestrap” - for some reason - and occasionally cropped up on Lemonworld broadcasts, while a spoken-word lyric allegedly intended for the 3rd part has also surfaced. Spooky! 😁

I’ve always wondered about the hypothetical “cut content” related to this quirky little EP. Firstly it has an indelible connection to the equally-forgotten “020202” EP, not only because of their chronological proximity but also because of their covert artwork’s identical layouts and themes. It’s as though they were intending to create a “series” akin to the subsequent Riverrun trilogy - it’s plausible that some material we now associate with Riverrun was originally a part of this speculative series. Secondly there’s the elusive “Autotrader” series - only the 4th instalment has ever been officially released, and in a rather unconventional fashion as part of the final track from this EP rather than as a standalone; it _has_ been played in various versions on several Lemonworld broadcasts, however. Additionally, the spoken-word vocals apparently meant for “Autotrader 3” also surfaced on Lemonworld. …but what’s become of parts 1-3 and any hypothetical parts beyond 4? My crackpot theory is that “Autotrader” was planned as the next EP in our untitled series, but for whatever reason it was scrapped and Riverrun emerged from its ashes. It’s also possible that other miscellaneous tracks from this era like “Swing Up High”, “Glitchy Beats”, “Telematic Peal” (the foundation upon which “Grace” was eventually built), or “Bang the Poll” (an early “JAL to Tokyo”) were also originally intended for this defunct series. That concludes this episode of Unsolved Underworld… see you next time, and always remember: you are, you are beauuutifuull! 😁🙏

Interesting, the beat from this was also used for the unreleased Lemonworld track called "Electro". It's such a shame they never finalised all the live-exclusive tracks from this era....

Can you believe, I actually used to detest this track - like, with a sincere passion. I can't comprehend my prior thought process... because it's now a recurring addition to my weekly playlist, and I actually listen to it more than its club-tailored sibling - and honestly I kind of prefer it to "Upstairs", I guess I just generally favour the chill-out room over the frenetic dancefloor! 😁

The atmosphere suffused throughout this album is so indescribably eerie. It's like you've stumbled across a tape recorded by the last sentient being on Earth, a now-nonfunctional hyper-futuristic music-producing AI that, generations ago, soothed itself with dreamy pads and conversed aimlessly with no-one in a desperate attempt to stave off the bleak loneliness - the human race having been extinct for decades - while the vestigial, desolate cityscape around it steadily crumbles away... an unsettling scenario somewhat reminiscent of Arthur C. Clarke's short story "There shall come soft rains". It's eerie and uncanny in ways that defy easy explanations. In other words it's bloody brilliant! 😁

Wow this upscale looks utterly spectacular! I remember watching this on Rage - an Australian music video programme - as a kid and being utterly transfixed... from that day onwards I was a dedicated Underworld obsessive. As soon as my parents got home I begged them to take me to the local record store, where we bought the "1992-2002" two-disc set.... and things would never be the same! It's still one of their most powerful tracks IMO. Karl's vocal is magnificent, he sings with an effusive passion here. And the production has so much depth to it, despite sounding simplistic. Thanks SO much for uploading this beautiful rejuvenation of a classic clip! 🙏💙

By far the best track on the initial release of "Barking"; the subsequent two-disc reissue massively enhanced the album. This track actually feels like Underworld, whereas the others on the original disc are far too diluted by the featured collaborators, sounding more like _their_ own tracks, with Karl merely on vocals and Rick's phenomenal production taking an undeserved backseat. I love the rhythmic layers of this track, particularly that insistent angular pulse that drifts from foreground to background throughout. A meticulously assembled piece of music, and it paid off in spades! 😁🙏

I am a huge Underworld fan, but my brain cringes every time there is that hiccup in the sample. It doesn't loop very well. Not everyone can hear it, apparently. If it was not for that hiccup, I would love it, but as it is now it hurts my brain.
