most Filipino in my hometown don't plant anymore, they just want to buy all things even kangkong or sweet potatoe leaves. I sometimes question the storeotype notion that we Filipino are some of the best hardworking people.

Grocery and gas prices are the same or even higher than in the US. The only cheap stuff are services like haircut, doctors visit, massage although these services are in a 2nd or 3rd class province of Bohol.

MANY seems to forget that Philippines is a ISLAND nation...all the food and things that isnt locally produced has to be transported with ferries often in many steps and different trucks and ferries between islands and sometimes even by air. That's why mainland nations like Thailand cambodia vietnam etc often is cheaper on many basic things than Philippines.

Westeners are coming in south east asia enormously because still affordable living , take note south east asia do not support war that’s why living here is paradise , there is inflation but not painful ...😂...reverse migration is taking place . Check in Thailand, malaysia , PhL malaysia , so much application for retirement and digital nomad visas for remote working ...Foreigners are buying properties also and rent long term stays because their money can go a long way here . They can live like a king with the money they have as well as the pensions they are receiving ...real talk that’s is what’s happening now .... south east asia is quietly booming, who would think one day this gonna happen.😅

The ground beef was my biggest food issue here. As I eat a carnivore way of eating, ground beef is my primary go to. It became unenjoyable after three times having to pick sharp pieces of cartilage out of my mouth. I ended up finding an importer of Demkota and Nebraska USDA Ribeye slabs in Manila and have him deliver whole slabs to the Southwoods SM where I meet him for pickup. I will usually pay about 15,000 pesos per slab. Also S&R has Kirkland ground beef in five 1lb roll packs as well as ground beef patties. You can also buy 500g (1lb) packs of ground beef from Pacific Bay if they deliver close to you. Our grocery bills usually breaks about 35,000 pesos a month when my wife's food items, water, coffee and other seasonings and stuff are added in, but thats not the norm for many immigrants here if they do not eat a meat based diet. Gas here in my part of the Cavite province is comparable to prices in the US (inflation is a global issue). Service prices here are not terrible with the exception of getting vehicles serviced at dealerships... They kill you with the add-ons even worse than in the US as far as we have experienced. ... That ending skit... lol comical for sure...

A gardener, maid, and general labor are around 6 dollars a day. Groceries are NOT cheap in the Philippines….Also expect dented, damaged goods not to be discounted. Anything that is shipped into he country has an import tax and the prices show….Just the fact a store has Western goods you are familiar with typically has premium.

Hahaha, that skit with Mike's beer fit was hilarious. I am an American from California but live in Tijuana Mexico on the border with San Diego. In general this place is more expensive with other parts of Mexico but it certainly is way cheaper over all to love here especially in regards to house. I bought one ocean view lot in Rosarito and built a house and one in Tijuana, my primary living place. I could not do that in California. Local restraunts and food is cheaper on average and so are utililities as well as propert tax and Haircuts. But some things like auto repair, cars and appliances, Home Depot and Costco can be the same or more. ENJOY THE PHILLIPINES. I haven't been since I was on the Navy in 1987 and miss it. SUBIC BAY and Olangapo. Say hello to Mike and get him a cold beer or two.😂

Local produced food and things has just gone up normally with inflation here..its pretty funny that most food is actually Cheaper here in thailand.. Thailand need no ferries to transport things..thats the downside for prices in philippines. If island dont grow food have meat or have factories and production it self it has to be transported with ferries.
