I always take the opposite approach when getting into games. Weirdos, puppeteers, and any other characters with a steep learning curve tend to grab me most, whether that curve is execution based or knowledge based. I like having something to really bite into off the bat, even if it means there will be an acclimation period. When I picked up +R I went and instantly fell in love with Zappa. In Strive, I couldn't find my groove till I tried HC. In Blazblue it was much the same, and I ended up maining Arakune and playing Carl on the side. The trend continues with Yuzu and Carmine in UNI and H-Ryougi in Melty.
