Save the distress pistol flares for bears and moose - when they charge blast them in the face from close range and they will bugger off. Keep in my mind the distress pistol has short range and lots of "bullet" drop - hence why I say close range. Okay, back to watching! edit, fyi there are overhead bins in both parts of the plane that can be checked for loot - the one part of the plane is upside down so the overhead bins are not overhead. Rosehips can be crafted and then brewed into rose hip tea which is a pain reliever. Don't worry about the supplies - just fill the hall pantry as requested, whatever you have on you will not transfer to the next chapter in the story. Great video Jay, bring on the next episode!

Funny that you said it xD “there is no worse affliction than being attacked by a bear” - it’s in the top 3 xD Bear attacks won’t kill you unless your health is lower than certain level (10-15% i don’t remember exactly). Provided that you treated your wounds, of course. Moose attacks work the same BUT you also get broken ribs that take a long time to heal - you totally can live with that but there are limitations. Wolves can outright kill you at any level of health, it’s up to luck. (Glancing attacks, like timberwolves do sometimes, deal less damage; but if you are surrounded by a pack they can make short work of you even with them). And, finally, cougar’s attack (if you survive it) leaves deep laccerations that can re-open even after you treated them - nothing like bleeding out in your sleep 😅 it can also just swat you with one paw and run (like timberwolves) but only if you manage to shot her during attack.

Irl, depending who you ask, timberwolfs are either a subspecie of grey wolf or a separate specie. They are big boys for sure :) Northwestern Wolf is the biggest wolf species in the world. It’s also known as Mackenzie Valley Wolf ( haha, Will is loving it there) or Canadian Timber Wolf. Their distinction in look and behaviour from "regular wolves" in the game is exaggerated but it's interesting that irl they can never be black while regular Grey wolves can.

Well, i said it's my fave not that it's an easy one xD I know a lot people don't like timberwolves but tbh i like them, they could be better but they are fun. I'd say a campfire is your best bet. Even if you won't have weapons you can throw torches and stones at them as long as you stay near a campfire. Edit: you have to get them or at least throw torches close to them for this to have real effect

Hey Jay! 15:09 looks like a couple revolver rounds on the ground. Generally speaking, the colder it is outside the longer your fire will burn for. More applicable to survival mode > the higher your cooking skill level the faster you can cook food and water. A strong wind can make a fire that was to last an hour go out quickly. That's what happened to you at about 16:50 I think. Predators are more dangerous at night and MUCH more dangerous at night during an aurora event. Getting lost in a blizzard at night is the worst - a perfect time to have 15 sticks and 5 cloth so you can craft and use an emergency snow shelter. When harvesting or repairing an item with your lantern on be aware that you will be using lantern fuel the entire time, best to turn the lantern off when harvesting stuff (repairing requires light, harvesting does not require light). You can harvest a lantern and you will get lantern fuel and scrap metal in return. Fyi, clothing is automatically put on in Story mode but NOT in Survival mode. Press H to put away anything that you have in your hand (torch, weapon, etc). Pressing 1 will cycle through your light options. Pressing 2 will cycle through your weapon options. There is an option to add food items to the radial menu when you click on food in your inventory (checkbox). The Long Dark is such an under appreciated gem. Long periods of relaxing tranquility, giving the player lot's time to ponder and think about the game and rerl life interspersed with moments of butt puckering terror. Every day that you are alive is an achievement. I've never played a game quite like this. The immersive soundscape and music, the unique art style that grows on you as you play, as a whole the game is extremely immersive. Good luck, have fun and cheers Jay, see you next episode and hoping to see you play Survival mode in the future!

O, yeah, streamers who regularly play on Interloper+ are different beasts. Mike is cool! Also, Zak's videos (@Zaknafein) are great to learn from because he explains his decisions in details. Actually, there are many more. Both here and on Twitch. And a players tend to have their own strategies and style, which makes it even more interesting. One of my absolute favourites is @dhdunn who, in his own words, might prioritize silliness and adventures over efficiency, but the amount of knowledge you get from a guy who is not afraid to ask "what if...i pock a bear with a stick?"... xD

@@JaySwayGaming Next time you look over at something and think "That looks interesting", the only thing to stop you investigating is your need for shelter. FWIW If you do play I'd recommend Voyageur... It's about what you're used to and it's forgiving enough that you can explore and afford to make some mistakes. Stalker is very wolf-heavy and interloper is nigh impossible unless you know the maps well enough to work out where you are in the middle of a storm and know where to find guaranteed matches. Best of luck whatever you do, I'll be following your progress.

@JaySwayGaming so 1. You can get a very warm pair of boots frome Gray Mother 2. All the clothes that you are just leaving behind can be used for bandages and to fix the ones that you are wearing And 3. Frome what i saw, you either shot a lot of bullets or you didn't collect some of them when searching in certain locations Remember that there might be bullets on the Flore in some houses. you are playing well. im not saying that you ain't im just saying that some of the stuff you missed are better than the ones that you can find normally in houses and cars. P.s. I'm a bit farther ahead than you And maybe it's because I love exploring, but I did get to the dama with about 37 rifle bullets About 30 revolver bullets And a wolf skinn jacket Take your time exploring more even if the video is a bit longer. I don't think ppl will mind. you have great energy, you are entertaining and fun to watch, so yeah, that's what I think, but you don't need to listen to be I'm just a dude on the internet 🤣

You in fact don't get any batteries for the flashlight. They are only usable during an aurora, which fully charges the battery. Once the aurora ends, they are unusable again. It's very useful when traveling at night during an aurora in desperate situations, because it has a high beam setting, which scares away the aurora wolves and bears. Flares and torches don't do anything. However, using the high beam depletes the battery faster. Keep it with you.

If you check in your character profile, it will show you the actual temp and the feels like. Your clothes stats, time of day and weather affect this stat. It's not going down because you were well outfitted. Your auto-walk is Z.

Great video Jay! Press Tab to see the time and smell meter. When going down a steep slope crouch to help avoid sprains. You can go down some very steep slopes while crouched. You can make a tea from Reishi mushrooms that will heal dysteny. You can also use the mushrooms in one of the special recipes that you can find. Save distress pistol flares for bears and moose. For black wolves light a torch or if its windy a flare and then choose a rock from the radial menu - the lit torch/ flare will drop at your feet - now keep aiming the rock at the wolf (don't throw it) and the wolf will charge but will veer off and run away at the last moment. Repeat as need be. There are at least a couple caves behind waterfalls, not on Forlorn Muskeg though. Default autowalk key is Z. Open the radial menu and click in the center to see your stats including the temperature. The mornings are the coldest part of the day and the temperature generally will slowly warm up. Looking forward to the next episode and hope that you stream or video a Survival playthrough. Cheers
