I use my Spacia as a more comfortable work van. I love it. Mine has the window visor which is great + electric mirrors. The only thing I'll say as far as customising it goes is that being 15 inch 4 stud, there's not many options for alloy wheels. The previous owner put Noah seats in the front which are darker & patterned - very nice. I ended up building myself a much larger centre console/arm rest out of ply & covering it in grey vinyl - much more comfortable & has a lift up storage compartment. Thanks for the tour.

Big fan of Kei Cars, and I think these are just really sporty!! Honestly, they are starting to pop up here in my country more and more, so for sure Kei is definitely the way!! We can get them direct from Japan, long as they are not so old. Very practical the boot is from what I have seen on other vids. If you want more, you can still lower the back seats as well. Kudos on this review, definitely love how you highlight the pros and cons.

Hey John. Honestly it could do with a 6 speed gearbox. It will quite happily do the speed, it's just pulling a lot of revs. It's bearable for 10 minutes, I wouldn't drive across Australia in it.

@@curatedjdm525 hey mate just to follow up on this - i saw SWK in japan supplies a replacement 5th gear, which brings high speed cruising speed down by almost 1500rpm. mine just arrived last week so i'll fit it pretty soon to my alto works. looks like a simple replacement too - theres a service plate on the end of the gearbox which you remove to access 5th. kinda like suzuki thought people might do this haha so if it's an issue for you too i'd look into it. the SWK yt channel has a video on the install and the special SST they supply with the gear, that you need to fit it

@@sbor90 its made highway driving way better! it's like skipping from 4th to 6th in ratios. fuel economy went up by heaps too, and its way more comfortable while rackin up hwy km. it's already pretty cheap to run anyway. was simple to fit as long as you have a good selection of tools. only thing is that at 80km/hr its a little awkward, as rpm is super low. other than that, i highly recommend doing the 5th gear upgrade if you have a ha36s. swk seem to accomodate overseas orders now too! so it's pretty easy to order your own, you don't have to go through a 3rd party in japan like i did.

The Japanese do strange things with these special edition cars. Neither of the S202s I have bought in have the correct wing. I've seen S203s and 204s in Japan with none of the special edition parts on them. Who knows why they do it. I have the correct wing and front lip coming in for this car.

Hi I only just came across your video today. Love the car. I have been wanting to get a Kei car myself as well for a long time. However I am 6’5” tall. Will I fit in it? And can I use the pedals without my knees hitting the steering wheel? I saw you are based in WA as am I. Any chance I can “fit on” your car when your back home? Thanks.

Hello, I am a Mercedes c220 and Alto works owner in Japan. I am 6 feet tall and it is not a problem. There is a kit sold in Japan that lowers the seat position. I think it would be better to install it. My wife is 5 feet tall so we can't choose that option.

I 100%agree with all your comments. Mine came with Amazon adjustable dampers with front coil overs but was slammed as low as it'd go at the rear. i raised it up a little but still gets spring bound at the slightest hint of a bump. I'm hoping a shift to BC Racing coilovers all round will improve things as I can use a rubber damper on the rear spring perches. Mine also has a Greddy Turbo boost controller hidden away under the stereo wiring rat's nest under the dash so they couldn't notice it at Shaken inspections. I'll clean that mess up when I fit a new headunit and remove the Toll card holder and attendant Japanese ladiy's admonishments re no card present. I fitted a Monster inlet and the small Monster Blow Off Valve cancellation kit. It sounds exactly like the "dose*" noise yours makes (* what the MCM guys call it). Likely mods to come are a larger intercooler and a re-mapped ECU (Monster are apparently "out of stock with no replenishment date" according to the Importer Nihonjin man on the ground) so either a Blitz (but AU Blitz agent in Kirrawee were spectacularly unhelpful in facilitating this activity) or KC Technic who have a local agent to send my (coded to vehicle anti-theft system) ECU to them and back - approx $1500 plus shipping? Don't need the added perf but can't help myself 😁. Till then,Ima just keep ganging it around with the biggest idiot grin on my face. Cheers from Sydney.

Apologies for a laaaate comment, but I'll be checking out an Alto Works for myself next week, or later (assuming it hasnt sold by the time I get over this damn spicy flu) Super excited about one, to the point of selling/trading my 99 MX5 in. Curious on your thoughts about some things i'd be worried about with a Kei car (only ones I've been in are 90s ones, like Beats, Cappos, and a mate's modified AZ1 with 100rwkw) How does the Alto do at highway speeds? I know it can physically reach them, but does it cruise at 100kph comfortably, or more of a "holy hell i'm a stiff breeze from death" does it feel quick? I know it's not a racecar by any means, but i'd muuuch prefer a slow car that feels fast and fun, over something actually fast that feels slow. And..... how does a 6ft tall white guy fit in them.... Comfortably? Cheers mate.

@@HKSkansei it does OK at 110. I wouldn't drive it for hours at that clip, but it's happy enough there. Fuel consumption is OK also. Plenty of room. People over 6ft fit comfortably although I would probably get the seat lowering kit if I were you. It feels quick because you're foot to the floor in every gear. Dishes the chop to dual cabs and taxis with ease.

As MonsterSports aren't offering them now, Blitz sems to be the only mob who will upgrade (flash) the original ECU but the OZ agent for Blitz (JustJap in Kirrawee) are spectacularly unhelpful (ie they don't want to send the ECU to blitz and get it back after the conversion...they just ghosted me when I asked). I'll wait until I get the car (couple of weeks yet I'm advised) to get the Part# of the ECU and then investigate getting a mate in Tokyo to buy a new ECU (if not ludicrously expensive) and get him to send it to Blitz and then mail it back to Oz.
