I was there! Believe it or not we still have a tyre from Tiff Needell's car in my dad's loft.

Still one of the Best National Hot Rod world finals ever. How well did steward Drive. The car looked like it was on rails, the whole race.

Still love watching this one. What a master class form steward on how to get through traffic, one of them Being Colin white, & not many people have Done that. In the Best Ever shape, there has been for a National Hot Rod.

It's a shame Rockingham ended up a car park. Ruined by The Split and Nimbys, the limit to the number of race events made it uneconomical.

I noticed Norman and Gary Woolsey competing in the World Final. I wondered if any other fathers and sons competed in the same event?🏎

Well said Graham Brown, that is exactly the problem. This man has been around National Hot Rods for many years and knows his stuff. The prize money back in the 1980's is still more or less the same today, what does that tell you?!! The promotors have been raking it in for years!

I have to say, the American stock car imports made the NASCAR-style motorsport over there in the UK very unique. It's very impressive how inspiring motorsports here in the US can be around the world!

Lol it didn't take off in the UK. Ascar was a failure. We Brits prefer a different kind of racing to the American style.

@@Hypnobreast Wow, that's a real shame! I wish it was a major success over there. I'm an American but I'm into a variety of motorsports from around the world, such as NASCAR, ARCA, NHRA, IHRA, Monster Jam, Bigfoot 4x4, Formula 1, IndyCar, WRC, and more.

Not quite for Colin White, that year, made up for it though by winning the national 3 years in a row, starting with the next year in '98. Thanks for the footage!

Thanks, it is a good video. Must defend Ricky hunn thou, if you talking about the incident with Steve Dudman that was Kevin Clarke who was out for a guest drive in Rickys spare car.
