@@dieselterminal97304 don't use one mate, in all my years of filming ive never used an external mike . I make sure the camera mike is well protected .

Better sounding due to its unique Napier Turbo,fitted by EWS, that actually makes the loco slightly more powerful than a standard 56. Excellent capture 👏🏼. JG.

I can remember the class 56 sound like this in the late 80’s but it was pulling 2000 tonnes of coal from Easington colliery on the County Durham coast to Wilton power station on teeside and sometimes they would head to north York yard to drop them off for Yorkshire drivers to pickup and head them on to drax while they headed back to the north east with the empties from drax. Happy memories this brings back to me as a kid standing waiting for them with my grandad ☺️

@class50thrasher 26 failed at that gala but pulled the last trip from Kiddie to Bridgnorth and back on the Saturday night. That was the best run I've ever had behind a diesel. I still think about it most days 10 years later!

Thanks for the video and sound. Is it a feature that all the locos do sound like rattling and they emit plenty of visual smoke when doing normal work? Are the engines two stroke? The less old class 50 too?

Absolutely superb footage. This was one hell of a gala. Hard to pick a favourite loco because there's so many to choose from but I'd have to go with the rats and the 58 - the rats for the sound and the 58 for the novelty of seeing a bone in action for the first time in 22 years

I don't understand why there is always a rear locomotive that seems to be a dummy with class 37 trains. The shorter they are, the more likely there is going to be 2 locomotives

Yeah, I agree about the poles Stephen... Makes it even more baffling when a decent enough shot can be had from ground level! Surely the whole point is to be able to get a shot from somewhere where it isn't possible from the normal perspective?
