Sorry for the rant and I know this isn't a healthy mindset but I don't know how to fix it. On a logical level I don't care about the prestige of where I go as long as I can get what I need for my dream job, but on an emotional level? It's _really_ hard to not feel the need to break your back to get into a 'good' college when your brother went to Georgia Tech. My recommendations are filled with decision reaction videos where these insanely talented people are getting into like 5 different Ivies and 3 UCs and no piece of advice I've seen is consistent, do they want balanced students? do they want a core theme that matches with my intended major that all of my extracurriculars revolve around? Jesus Christ, I've only even been in high school for 6 months and I'm already exhausted.

Ough, that ending hurt. I was the complete opposite of you. I prioritized my hobbies and friends over my grades. I didn’t do a single test prep, I never studied for anything. In the end, with my 3.4 GPA, it was very likely my essay about Minecraft, and how much the community meant to me, that got me into all three colleges I applied to. (one of which being a “T20” school). I see so many teenagers abandoning the things that bring them joy in order to get into the schools they want, when in reality, embracing those things, having something you care about outside of academics and the same clubs everyone else is in, are what make you stand out to admissions.

37:56 Rowing is infinitely harder than how you depict it here... Rowing teams have such numbers of athletes because the more rowers, the more competition to be the fastest, and thus your team increases in speed. Rowing at a top school is an absolute honor only extended to the most skilled (and yes, it takes enormous amounts of finesse and skill to properly row a boat), and you very poorly depicted this here. You have no idea what you're talking about and you honestly should remove this section of the video as it's insulting to the tens of thousands of athletes who have been through more pain than you could ever imagine, and it taints an otherwise good video.😊

I don’t think the algorithm is that different between Douyin and TikTok, it’s still user contents driven. The fact that Douyin requires every user to provide ID to register is a more important factor I believe.

imma be honest with yall LMAO banning tiktok is literally the most useful thing congress ever did as much as i love tiktok contents but i gotta admit tiktok is weird on collecting our data ive noticed that also on other chinese apps like wechat this thing literally constantly spy each chinese citizen and know their location exactly and people there still wonder why crime is low like bro its because ur government constantly know ur location, full name,id infos, etc not by ur efforts its simply called using citizens as puppets they aint got a single bit of freedom in china they literally cant even do a simple joke on a politic mf they gon end up in jail or dead and many more like fr simply watching a live on wechat they ask for ur id and for playing games in china also its asking for id thats weird the world dont need to get in chineses weird dictatorship of spying people lifes on internet and yes chinese dont know nothing outside china they get brainwashed by their own people its when they move outside that they stop talking and realise the reality😂😂😂

It's crucial to block the massive USA propaganda machine. China took the right step. We're all soaked in US propaganda, so we assume the propaganda is the base line. An assumed reality that needs no reflection. Fortunately the Tik Tok ban means Americans have checked the Little Red Book and become aware of the deception. If China hadn't blocked US propaganda services, then they would be deluded, too.

"Social Cohesion" might be hard to understand for people not used to it, but it's present in most confucian societies. What it essentially means is fostering a culture of collaboration, friendliness, tolerance, and understanding each other's point of view. Making changes by collaboration and understanding, rather than winning and imposing changes on the losers. When you discuss something, you discuss it civilly rather than attacking each other. When you see something online that you don't like, just move on rather than leaving hateful comments, and if needed, write constructive criticism instead. If the gooberman made a mistake, understand the nuance, understand why the decision is made, analyze it, critcise it (constructively), and even propose a way out of the issue. So on and so forth. It's probably why mainstream East Asian internet is usually a lot more friendly than English speaking ones. You don't get people telling you to kay-wai-ass just for being LGBT, well, it happens but not as toxic as elsewhere. On that LGBT thing, it also means you don't rock the boat by trying to change the norm with activism, just be gay but don't be an activist, no one cares about what you do in life, but don't antagonize other people by calling them names just because they don't support LGBT. This might be perceived as China or Japan being anti-lgbt but it's actually quite equal by asking both sides to be nice with each other even if the views are opposing. Can't say for Korea tho. There are of course issues, where these things are unequally enforced, e.g some platforms where subtle misogyny is more prevalent so those are things to be improved. East Asia is super nuanced. You'd get rules like "Be nice to people and promote social cohesion" but what does that mean? Who knows, it's up to each person. While in the west you guys are usually more detailed listing every point by point.

All the American MSM talked about its security but the Tit Tok had to meet US demand, i.e. US data stay in USA and a US company, Oracle is employed to manage their data is based in Texas. Unfortunately this greedy US company, Oracle sold their data and was charged recently. How ironic. It's a US greedy company that is betraying their own American residents. Lastly the American leaders & lawmakers were using Tit Tok through their elections processes. This had nothing to do with security. Typical Americans obsession in data security & spying and not the Chinese way.
