I once saw Hall of Fame-fisherman Larry McLawrence catch three Salmon in a current like this. Didn't bother Larry at all - he just cast and hit, cast and hit, cast and hit. Only the third Salmon gave Larry trouble ...because it was caught on a log.

Always keep a couple of extra band-aids on you, especially if you're swimming through this. 1:15

Only swim in this if you've had Advanced Debris Training and Certificate. i.e. Lifeguard issued ADT. @ 1:15.

A lot of people figure that the beginning of that probably doesn't look that bad and think that you could "walk on it and get out of the way." Realistically, that water is pushing small stones (like the ones in the video before it covers them) along the bottom. You'd probably fall down due to stepping on round stones at the bottom, not to mention the water force trying to knock you down and the debris jabbing you everywhere. If you fell in the head of that, it would probably spear you in a lot of horrible places and you'd have life threatening wounds very quickly, then drown in the deeper water that follows.

Nice! Those pieces of wood could snap legs, and crush bone. Always check weather beyond local area before trekking canyons!

Please get a permit before going. We had a flood before this that wiped out our subdivision. There have been many killed in this type of flooding. It is dumb to put yourself in a slot canyon with bad weather. The park service will not give permits if the weather is bad. It can be from 100's of miles away.

where in North Creek was this? I was stuck in Zion Narrows this day when the storm hit. We were in the wall street section and has to climb a cliff. We did the entire 16 mile hike with a backcountry permit. There were 6 of us that came out of the Narrows together.
