My first car, I loved it, a student at the time It would do London to Nottingham on one gallon of fuel, It always started, I could maintain it with a screwdriver and half a set of spanners, I couldn't break it. Girls loved it, found it cute and with the engine roar thought they were driving fast. Finally a French girlfriend broke it by ramming a Land rover with tow hook from behind. My sister had three Minor travellers as well, she liked the Light blue with wood. Would I buy one now... OH YES! I have an SL500 Mercedes in the garage and 5 fast motorbikes. To poodle around, go to the shops, walk the dog I have an E class Mercedes, brilliant car, luxury luxury 140MPH ultra reliable. Does anyone want to swap for a Fairly standard Morris Minor?

WHY did the government ban exporting FULLY built cars? Does anybody know?
@rhobbis10 ай бұрын
Exports weren't banned; when import restrictions were removed in the late 80's, used Japanese cars flooded the market and our car industry died. There were no fully built NZ cars left to export, apart from kit cars and specials. We didn't IMPORT many fully new cars in order to protect and provide car industry jobs; painting, upholstery, batteries etc, but that all died when the import restrictions were lifted.

A blue 1963 Morris Minor Traveller was the car I got married in over 42 years ago. Unfortunately. it wasn't regarded as a classic back then and, when the chassis went, I got rid of it. What a big mistake.

That's not actually the one from 1978. This is a rerelease from I'm pretty sure 1980 or smth.

The whole event is more about getting a wide variety of cars out and being used, in a pubic-friendly environment. It's not about sprint times or difficulty.

Thanks for uploading this. This was the car my grandpa drove and after 20 years of him passing away, my dad and I are seeking how to restore it here in Mexico (part finding is going to be a struggle). Really happy that you preserve this tape.

No problem getting parts these days, using the Web. Go either to the UK, or even Australia. I too have lots of smaller used Minor parts here in Melbourne.

You guys may not like me much as a Kid in Highschool I put a 426CI Dodge Wedge engine in a 1962 pickup. straight axle Gasser, what a crazing thing to drive. in my defense I found two halves at a wrecking yard and set the body on a frame.

As a viewer of this film, it's interesting to see such a collection of British designs, as well as Minors, in AUSTRALIA - and people's reactions to the same cars, in another country! These days there's not just Covid travel restrictions , but I'm at the moment not in that good shape for such a long journey.So to see all this in the "comfort of my own home", in Britain , makes it possible to see everything after all! As they do say, with the internet, THE WONDERS OF TECHNOLOGY!
@paulsutton58963 жыл бұрын
Yes. Morris Minors were only available overseas. That is because Britain had to pay for the war-effort. Ironically, no such requirement hindered the postwar German motor industry.

When you see how much fun the owners have with their Morris, Minors in the different variants, each person has a different opinion on how they got their own version of the car. L
