This is a must-see video for those conducting performance audits. One technical comment is that Compliance Audit is not a type of engagement under GAGAS - an audit with compliance objectives is a type of Performance Audit under GAGAS.

Reccommend to list down all the actual works to be done, then list down opposite the listing how many have been completed..

very good overview of segregation of duties. I often tell people that it can also help them in case of something happens that their work have been reviewed/conntrolled by others

I often think about Descarte's sentence "de omnibus dubitandum est " (latin for "you should doubt everything") when doing audits.

Very helpful video. I have attempted (and failed) to try and convey to my clients on past projects. Note: Handing them the green book in its entirety at the entrance conference is not the way to go.

I've spent 20 years in some kind of internal audit/risk management capacity and it amazes me how so few audit professional s understand this concept and thereby have no idea what the objective of their role/job is. It creates a tremendous amount of confusion and inefficiency across the entire organization. I've come to the conclusion that if IA of an organization doesn't understand this concept then it would be in the best interest of the organization to not even have an IA department.

I’d be interested in your thoughts about narrowing the focus from a program to a sub-service, or even just a process (and what risks could arise from taking a narrower focus, keeping our systems thinking cap on).

From Kathy (an audit manager in Oakland): Hi Leita: I just wanted to say thanks for The Sample. It’s a good way to brush up on bread-and-butter auditing concepts without a big investment of time (or $$). Regards, Kathy

Great topic Leita - makes us realize how many skills we need above and beyond just knowing the standards. And another great point - it's not up to the standards to be interesting - it's up to us to bring enthusiasm and energy!

great ideas. I recommend reconsidering that some people just experience anxiety and that mentioning deep breathing and being present needs to be addressed. Also, "active listening" is not really addressed here. how about bring someone with you to take notes and to assist?
