This would be very intriguing to someone exposed to the series the first time.

The dryer in the commercial is a 642C (electric), which was also available in gas as a 742C for 1960 and 1961. Later, the same exact electronic control unit and timer were used on the DE701 and DG701 models from 1962-1964.

Thank you very much for posting, but I'm sorry to inform you that this is not the Soundie "Playmates" by Billy McDonald from 1944 (which can be seen e.g. on Historic Films Stock Footage Archive, look for VM-32G), but the Techniprocess film of same name from ca. June 1941, reissued by Bonica and Official Films. But again: Thank you for posting! Kind regards.

The Globetrotters were great entertainers. The origin of the troupe & their tricks is fascinating. I could watch these guys all day! Just pure joy, aren't they? Some of those shots, OMG, beyond amazing! This is American sports at its finest---civil, gentlemanly, & hilarious! Truly an unbeatable combination. What these mesmerizing magicians provided their cheering throngs is more needed now than ever---& it certainly was needed during the era this game was played. Thank God these magical spinners of the orange orb have been captured on film for all eternity. Okay, now, let's watch this again---& again & again!

The ironic thing is that by the time this newsreel came out, the battleship was already proven to be obsolete due to the air power of U.S. carrier groups.

Honestly, as good as the film looks, I'm most impressed with the sound quality. I wasn't expecting much from a home print, but this is excellent!
@gorngreenАй бұрын
Thanks. The sound was captured during the scan process by photographing the optical sound track. The soundtrack was then converted to high-resolution mono audio via software decoding, then there was some minor noise cleanup.

I watch that movie on television when I was a young kid. I would have liked so much to be in the pkace of Peter O'Toole with Jeanne Moreau and have a good time with her. Since then, I drean so much to kiss beautiful and pretty feet and toes from beautiful ladies, be tickled by their toes as my favorite torture and be dominated and also slave to ladies feet (or female feet), especially from my best girlfriends and the most beautiful girls and ladies I have ever known in my life, in nylons or bare. I would like so much to rewatch this movie once again. Memorable moments. Unforgettable movie of my childhood.

Eastman Kodak sure sold a bill of goods to film producers. Metrocolor, Eastman Color, Deluxe and others look like crap after a few decades. The focus softens as well as the gelatin and dies breaks down. No amount of refrigeration will fore stall this. 3 strip technicolor, black and white and cine color lasts indefinitely. Yes, it cost more but I have projected over 500 hrs of nitrate 35mm and safety as well. Repaired and preserved it, I have no use for Eastman color or Ansco especially, as it is always brittle.

In the late 60s, The networks were trying to get EVERYTHING they broadcast in Color. The second seasons of Lost in Space and Gilligan's Island were in color ( at the insistence of the networks) The Dick Van Dyke show ended at season 5 despite very high ratings, supposedly because they didn't want to broadcast in color. The same thing happened to Perry Mason in 66' . There is one EPISODE of Perry Mason in color ( the final episode)!

The colors look very balanced! How are you doing color correction?
@gorngreen2 ай бұрын
@zanders32 thanks. Most of the color correction is done during the scan process with lasergraphics, then there is some fine tuning in post. It also depends on how much time I feel like spending. Generally it gets things into a watchable state. Older film posts were done differently so they are not quite as good.

Hello and thank you - again - for posting these wonderful Soundies in high quality. FYI: The copyright date of this Soundie is February 16, 1942 and it appeared on that day on Reel 1055 (the 55th Soundie reel) on the first place. It is an RCM production and must have been recorded the weeks before. My source is the wonderful book on Soundies by Mark Cantor
