Wow, you had a baby (the booth!) early in your marriage! How great to start it together. My husband and I started ours together, but after 50 years of marriage! We both will go grab each other for consults and that is such a help. I sat at the back at the retreat but admired Chris for diving right in! I assumed when I heard your business name that a CNC machine was doing major factory size projects, LOL. Cindy, if Chris doesn't already have a Kreg jig, get him one!

The owner of the vintage mall I’m in down by Peoria IL said our Christmas open house day (she starts the Christmas show 1st. Weekend in November) was the biggest in sales ever…in 19 years! So hopefully that’s a good indicator as to how Small Business Saturday will go…maybe😁

Lol! As I am listening to this, I am having new plumbing pipes put in my 1960s house. When the plumbing foreman came to estimate the job, he said that he had never seen a house packed with so much stuff that wasn't "hoarding". He could tell that I had a bunch of "projects" and work stations in almost every room. He and his crew were taking a break when the topic of "inventory" all over the house came up. He laughed and said that I must be in good company, but that my house is a first for him!

My story with my boyfriend is we met online and talked for a month before we met so we already fell for each other before meeting in person and have so much in common as well. He also has a pitboss and is an amazing cook, we camp and fish, magnet fish as well, but we have a camper. You guys are a great couple!❤

Sonnet, the entire experience was just wonderful! I took many pictures of the vendor booth displays, they were so good! Your displays were beautiful. I definitely stocked up on IOD! I was hoping you had some help with restocking! I think we all felt filled up, creatively, at the retreat. But the best part was the chatting with other attendees and the presenters, who all were so kind, generous, and friendly! The food was beautiful, delicious, and plentiful. Amazing is the word for the charcuterie board! But good idea to have someone oversee the food next time. Guessing a couple of the presenters learned something about scope of project, both in terms of time and size of materials. I was impressed with how the paints you provided worked for all the projects. And it was cool that we got to take the paint home! I will come again! When I was running academic programs, somebody told me that I would feel like I had it down by the third time through. Your presenters were amazing helpers. I also enjoyed connecting with April, Kim, and Melinda at our air b and b! Pat from Whitewater.

The experience had many enjoyable moments, and you really tackled so much in a short amount of time and being sick didn’t help. Thank you for the opportunity to be apart of this wonderful event, you gathered so many wonderful people to share with each of us. For me this event was about meeting so many that I’ve had conversations with but never met in person. To build on the relationships of like minded people. ❤ The crafting was a bonus and I always love to learn new techniques. Over the years I’ve had to plan and execute many events and family and friends are always helpful, I found having a team of people that are well versed in the process is a great resource to have. You won’t regret it! Wishing you the best and Congratulations on a fantastic event! ❤

I have definitely learned a lot from my first retreat. I really missed out on getting to talk to everyone and spend more time with the attendees. I know that now and I plan on having a crew to do all of the set up and tear down at the next retreat so that I can spend time with the people that matters most! I’m so sorry you are in such a tough situation. I can see how burnout would definitely be a factor for you. Please remember to take time for yourself. Even if that means having a friend come over to stay with your husband while you garden or go shopping for yourself. I hope that in time you will find the right place for him to be so you don’t have to be the wife and a care giver. Take care of yourself. 😊

Sonnet, there was a lot of concern at the retreat, of the, "Is she okay?" variety. We care about you and want you to be healthy and happy! I personally came close to burn out about four years into my career as a masters level psychotherapist. So I took a break and got my Psychology doctorate. In the first year, all my project topics related to burnout..LOL. One thing you could think about is how often things happen. Could the retreat be every other year? Could the Makers box be every other month or quarterly? (I would be more apt to subscribe, if so.) One suggestion re: the retreat is to put together a cleanup crew for tables, chairs, loading, etc. at he end, people who arrive freash, not attendees or presenters.
@SonnetsGardenBloomsАй бұрын
Thank you for the concern. I’ve learned a ton from hosting my very first retreat. I will be hosting my retreats annually and next year I will have a crew to assist with pre-prep, in between class set up and take down. I never asked any attendees to assist with break down but I appreciated all the help. It was as extremely kind for all that helped!!
@katiewhiston5864Ай бұрын
To be honest, I was avoiding this episode. I came to your retreat with my sister and learned so much and had a good time. I looked for you now and then during the day and saw that you were busy cleaning up and not real happy. I was worried for you because of all that you were doing. And yes, that IOD release got in the way. I came for respite. My husband has Alzheimer’s and I am his care giver. I do go to a support group which I like. My question for them is how do I know when he should go into a memory care facility. Then there is the price and location. We had to have the house reroofed, new siding, gutters, etc done this summer. I am also an avid gardener, my poor plants and shrubs took a beating this year. I felt I was on my way to a burnout. I finally watched this episode today. Thank you. I too need help. And you are right, you find out who your friends are in times like these. I enjoy watching you and the other creators videos. It starts my day off right. Bless you!
