Hi!! I've currently been trying to 1cc this amazing game on Original with Palm Abnormal as well. I've been playing on the 360 port using xenia canary, which seems to emulate it flawlessly. I noticed that you get much more slowdown than the 360 port specifically during the stage 3 boss's first and second stage (when the bullets come from the sides of the screen). This led me to check a PCB replay and the slowdown is there too. So now I'm thinking playing this on MAME has more accurate slowdown than the 360 port. I'm wondering if there are specific settings in MAME that I would need in order to get this accurate slow down, or if all it is setting the blitter delay to 58% like you mention in the description. I know this is an old video, but if you remember or have any advice for me I'd really appreciate it! Wonderful 1cc btw!! Inspires me to keep at it!
@1CCJAM2 ай бұрын
@bornagainstraightedge Yes in this run all I used was the blitter delay at 58%. I have read you can also combine this with underclocking the CPU in MAME settings to induce more slowdown, so you could try that as well. I think it would take a lot of tweaking to get it just right, and without an original pcb to directly compare to it's a bit of a hopeless task. For me the blitter delay was 'close enough is good enough'. I think I was using MAME 0.207 for this run, so maybe with a newer version the emulation has improved. The Xbox360 ports are not perfect but still very good. If you can get a modded Xbox360 it's a great way to play Futari and other Cave titles.
@bornagainstraightedge2 ай бұрын
@1CCJAM hey man, thank you for the response. Happy to say I got the 1cc two nights ago on the 360 port on xenia canary. I figured so many other people dealt with the lack of slowdown on the stage 3 boss, i could too lol. It's up on my channel if you wanna see a newb 1cc lol. I'm gonna have to see if xenia can emulate the other 360 ports as well as futari, if not im def gonna look into getting a modded 360. Thanks for all the advice!

My question is .. do you think 32” tate is too large to sit and play so close? I can’t decide if it’s a good idea or stick with a 21” monitor in tate mode.

Most of the arcade shmups are 4"3 ratio, so they will not fill up the whole screen regardless. I think it will be alright, but you may need to experiment and test the setup to get the right feel. How close you sit, the position of the screen etc.

Oh my nostalgia! My first job was at a Namco Arcade at a mall where we had quite a few cabinets lined up that looked very very similar to these. (obviously it wasn't exact as this one looks like it was for the Japanese market) The tall aspect ratio and the angle it sat at was nothing like the other cabinets on the floor. I remember vividly having 4 that were networked together for a fighting game, and another pod of 4 that were networked for a GUNDAM game. Such a versatile cab. I wish I had pictures of the store, but this was during the pre- (good) camera phone era haha I also very vividly remember staying after hours to play Dance Dance Revolution using the test function to "make sure the pads were working correctly" lol Thanks for posting this!

chewlix is better than og viewlix? how much it cost?
@1CCJAM Жыл бұрын
If it came down to it, I would prefer an original, but they are very difficult to find here in Australia and the price would probably be out of my range. The Chewlix I have are very versatile, perfect for a console or PC based arcade machine. They are the exact same design as the original, but the original Vewlix has a stronger and better build quality. Originals are usually wired for JVS whereas a Chewlix is usually setup for JAMMA or consoles. The quality of the screens varies between models for the original Vewlix. The screen in the Chewlix is more than adequate and possibly better than some of the screens in the original models. Screens can always be upgraded to high quality gaming monitors with a little bit of effort. Cost was around $1600 USD at the time of purchase, but things may have changed since then.

Sorry for the late reply. Yep, Groovymame with the CRT Emudriver is ideal for shmups. It's definitely cheaper than original PCB hardware, especially for Cave titles. Guangzhou Panyu District? Did you order from Chino? I've got an order on the way from him, these look like phenomenal replica cabs. How's your experience been after almost a year now?
@1CCJAM2 жыл бұрын
Hi Odwalla, Yeah I’ve got two cabs from Chino, the TATE one you see here, and a horizontal one as well. I’m still stoked with both cabs a year on. The TATE one probably gets the most use with the xbox360 shmup titles. The horizontal cab has a PC installed using Steam big picture for fighting games and a few hori shmups. You’ll probably want to do a few mods to the cab once you get it. Install a led strip on the instruction panel, get some reproduction Vewlix decals for the side panels, and art for your favourite game. The joysticks sit a bit high on the default panel, but you can easily lower them, or replace the whole control panel with a better-quality reproduction like I did. The horizontal cab came with JAMMA wiring, but I stripped that out as it seemed pointless in a cab with a high-definition screen. I hope you love your new cab when it arrives, enjoy!

As a fellow survival player, I really appreciate channels like these, especially when commentary is included, they help a lot. btw I'm curious: how do you say mushi futari 1.5 compares to ketsui in terms of difficulty? you stated in the description that it took longer than expected and that its up there with your ketsui clear, but would you say this was harder? or was it more or less on the same level?
@1CCJAM2 жыл бұрын
Really glad to hear the replays and commentary have been helpful. I also seek out survival replays when I’m trying to clear a game. They can be more useful and motivational than watching high scoring, no-miss runs done by super players. I would say Ketsui was slightly harder in terms of difficulty. Despite the difficulty Ketsui was able to keep me motivated, because the game-play is so satisfying. Everything from the lock-on, to the patterns and the music just feels so good. I also had some familiarity with Futari from doing the Original clear, so I think that helped.
@ArcadeBGM2 жыл бұрын
@@1CCJAM yeah they are always motivating for me, I also watch them for entertainment, its always exciting to see clears with 0 resources left. As for Ketsui's difficulty: it took me 2 months to clear, one full month of savestate practice and one full month of several credits per day, it pushed me to my limits... and I relate to the feeling of keep being motivated despite its brutality since the game is so freaking good, it has my fave aesthetics/theme (to the point where I'm even in love with the name entry screen because of the font and the bgm) and an extremely satisfying gameplay with the lock on, so its really worth it. I asked how they compare because I was afraid it'd be even harder and wasn't sure if I could endure it again, at least not anytime soon hahah, the only experience I have with Futari is Futari BL Original which is the easiest futari version afaik. Anyways, it may also be well worth it since Mushi is awesome.

I had such a blast watching this run last night. It was 3-4 months ago when I buckled down for my Arcade Normal clear and after getting it, I sampled Hard mode for a bit which definitely tripped me up. Decided to boot it up last night and additional skills must have set in because I was handling the bulk of the run without much issue whereas before things would have felt far more daunting to me. On my 4th run last night I made it to the second half of the final boss before biting the bullet but I know I will pull this off before long. I really love this game. I like how the stages are relatively easy to deal with and how much higher the risks are when in a boss fight. The attack that snakes its way down the screen is certainly the one that trips me up the most too. I want to explore that fight in more depth because I'm sure there are things I'm currently missing which will give me a better grasp but for a first night of playing so far, I'm incredibly pleased with how things are looking. One of the reasons I want to bang out Hard mode is because I'm super stoked to tackle Extreme mode but I won't allow myself to taste that until I polish off Hard mode. Also, during some sloppy areas yesterday evening I learned that if you have one life left and then choose to gain a life after a fight, you go back up to four lives! That drastically alters how I view what approach may or may not be needed. This tells me I can more often than not choose bombs over lives because as long as I can make it through each fight without getting a game over, I can snag the starting amount of lives. I'm wondering if bombs work similarly. There have been times where I've recieved two bombs so that's noteworthy. Anyway, thanks for a riveting session and congrats on the clear! Stoked to get this one!
@1CCJAM2 жыл бұрын
Hey Dace, sorry for the late reply. I’m stoked to hear you are going for the Hard mode clear, and you have enjoyed my replay. Shikhondo is definitely all about the boss fights! The attack that snakes its way down in the final boss is brutal, and will be quite an achievement if you can tame it. I look forward to tracking your progress on your channel. Wow, I never noticed that about the lives and bombs. I wonder if it works like that in the PC version as well? Wishing you well for the Hard and Extreme clears.
@Shmuptopia2 жыл бұрын
@1CC JAM Oh it's no problem, I'm responding late to you too so never a worry. I haven't played as many shmups as some people but I still find it rare enough to see a game where the main threats are strictly during boss encounters. In ways, it can feel that much more rough when taking a hit before the boss because the stage stuff is much easier to read and respond to. As for the snaking attacks, I feel that will be the most significant undertaking since there's no training mode, so when getting there during actually runs, I'll likely be more focused on just surviving the encounter to get the clear. I suppose boss rush mode would be another alternative but it's still a lot of time just to reach one part you want to examine more carefully. It's not ideal but I'll need to work within that regardless. I haven't played in about a week since I have dabbled in other games but I did boot up Extreme mode once just to see what it was like again and even the stage 1 boss has me scrambling haha. If I'm going to pull that off, it'll be a long-term project for sure since I don't want to pressure myself to bang something like that out in a short time. Anyway, I missed your latest two uploads and will definitely be scoping those this afternoon. Thanks again for getting back to me and have a stellar day!

A great run indeed and a nice idea to have subtitled comments about the gameplay. The monkey boss can be a spoilsport no doubt. Your run is very different than mine and a lot more harder, I must say. You showed great skill at some parts, but I agree this game is pure memorization. Fortunately, you took the "right" route, with Brazil as second stage, even if the France stage is a pain being the 4th one. Yeah, the pattern that starts at 29:00 is horrible. I would have whole runs collapse in less than a minute because of that pattern. I found if you focus your eyes on the vacant space and try not to let its strange movement distract you, made it easier. It’s also very easy to get trapped in the corners.
