I enjoyed the contrast of your peaceful nature walk to the urban scenes of Milan. I liked the small detail of the voice on the train making the announcement in Italian. Hi Introvert, thank you for your comment! I actually live in an area where you can go from the quiet countryside life to the bustling city or, conversely, to the solitary mountain environments. Hello! I really loved the walk down the stream, I went to the nearest stream last Sunday too. Very calming 😊 I feel the same about Milan, too overwhelming for me. It offers a lot but it's too much to handle! Have a lovely Sunday 😊 oh and I loved the bird visit!

Hi Lara, the wonderful thing is that I can simply walk to that peaceful spot amidst the fields. I spent some time living in Milan for work, but I returned to the countryside as soon as I had the chance. While Milan certainly has its own appeal and some fascinating districts, I much prefer this setting. The little bird's visit was a delightful surprise; I'm usually too slow to even get my camera. Beautiful. I want to say you influence my thinking about video production. I need to slow down. Your work is always meditative, in contrast to the frantic jump cuts we see everywhere (and I make too often). Thank you for that. My wife and I always enjoy your videos! 😊

Thanks! You're a talented musician, so you know that musical tempos vary depending on the desired effect. For example, Petite Fleur is 83 bpm while Take Five is 174 - obviously, the result, and therefore the listener's experience, will be very different. The same principle applies to editing. Sometimes I edit with very short shots, just one or two seconds long, but in these videos I'm letting the images "breathe". In other edits, the music takes the lead, but in this case, it's the visuals. One more thing: I often see edits synced to musical beats, like the downbeat in 4/4 time. It works sometimes, but not always - it shouldn't be a hard and fast rule. Just like everything else in video editing and directing, every choice needs to have a specific purpose. Hi Rudy and Ms. Z, greetings from cold N. Carolina. We just had our first snowfall and another is expected this weekend. We are ready with plenty of food in the cupboard and wood for the fireplace. My passions are gardening and nature. At present, I'm researching the historical development of Japanese gardens and how I can apply the various concepts to a western environment. We'll see how that goes. I just surpassed 120 pounds in wild birdseed so it will be interesting to see what my feathered friends consume by winters end. Zaha Hadid is my favorite female architect so I will look up Gae Aulenti. Y'all stay warm, safe and cozy.

Hi Marilyn, we don't get much snow around here these days - it's quite rare now. Obviously, it's a different story up in the mountains. So if you've stocked up, I'm guessing you live somewhere pretty remote. Wow, 120 pounds of birdseed is a lot! In Milan, Zaha Hadid designed a skyscraper and a gorgeous residential complex in the new CityLife district, the other modern side of Milan. Hope you have a nice and warm week!

Hi Ina, thank you for your comment. I'm so glad you enjoy it as well. Regarding the little bird, I hope he returns, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to film him again. He's near the kitchen window, which I don't often look out of. These little birds tend to just stop briefly and then fly away, even with food available. But I think it's a positive sign, as it indicates they are finding food naturally elsewhere. The watercolors are relaxing for me too, and I'm looking forward to what the future holds. I took up watercolour as a hobby a couple of years ago. I have a pretty good collection of watercolour paints and accessories now which I love as I get bored with sticking to one thing. I think my favourite, most therapeutic thing to do, is making up colour palettes and painting pages of swatches. Then I have a reference for when I do a painting. I also love photography and you can never have too many books! The little bird was so sweet and looked pretty content hopping around your garden. Another lovely, relaxing video. Have a lovely week.

Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I also find it relaxing and fun, we'll see what happens. I also have a connection to photography, I don't know if it's genetic since my father was a photographer although I barely had time to meet him. I also read, but Ms. Z much more than me! The birds come to my alcove but they usually fly away before I can get the camera. But from the window I see Herons, Mallards, Magpies, and lots of pigeons, and some Robins and Blue Tits from time to time. I wish you a good week too!

Loved the orange circles and a day trip to Milan. Seems so exotic…….Milan…….The train is colourful and so shiny and clean! Nice relaxing piano music. My hobby is taking care of my husband. Hi Kelly, thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 No, I never really get lost, at least not in these areas that I’m exploring little by little! As for trespassing, I’m always careful to pay attention to signs and boundaries. And if it ever did happen, I’d be notified, and there wouldn’t be any negative consequences. Around here, those who don’t want people crossing their land usually fence it off.

I've never heard of putting coocked peppers in a bag to rest. Does it hold in the juices?

Hi Kelly! This is a little trick that not everyone in Italy knows about either. It’s specifically for recipes that require peeling peppers. You place them in the air fryer or oven without any seasoning for about half an hour until they’re soft. Then, take them out and put them directly into a tightly sealed bag, letting them rest for about 15 minutes. The peppers don’t release much juice. At that point, peeling them will be much easier. Let me know how it turns out if you try this method!

Hi Ina, thank you for your comment, and I wish you a fantastic 2025 as well! I also love that area of the Alps; we manage to visit it every now and then. Panettone is delicious, it's the traditional Christmas dessert, along with Pandoro from the Verona area. Recently, some pastry chefs have started making it at other times of the year too. I hope you'll get the chance to try it here in Italy someday. I just discovered that on November 30th and December 1st, 2024, the Panettone and Friends Festival took place at the Arena Market in Berlin, organized by Italian pastry chef Giorgio Mecca, who owns a pastry shop in Berlin called Giomecca. Something tells me you might check it out! 😊

I’m sure that sooner or later, you’ll want to visit this area, just as Ms. Z and I would love to visit yours. In February, my son will be traveling to Norway. I know they’ll arrive in Tromsø and then head to some remote place. I love those photos too; they’re so heartwarming. Ms. Z brings sweetness and elegance to everything she does. Yes, there was no way Ms. Z would have missed the chance to try something from that pastry shop! Tasting the artisanal panettone and the tea we bought in Como was such an enjoyable moment. Yes, we went to Como to buy some tea, but when we saw the Martesana pastry shop, we just couldn’t resist going in. They’re always ranked among the top 30 pastry shops in Italy. As for the Sicilian pastry, I’m not sure, Ms. Z tells me one of them was from Puglia. I hope to start the home renovation projects I have in mind soon. I’m not sure if you’re Irish too like your friend, but both Ms. Z and I are very fascinated by Ireland. We hope to visit it one day. As for Italy, it truly is a place with so many diverse aspects, with each region having its own unique characteristics. I hope you’ll have the chance to visit it someday.
