I think Jeremy is a kind of angel sent to Earth. He came in the form of a thunder being pregnant his mother with him, and in the ending just like Christ after have left his wisdom to everybody chose the Passion of leaving with a thunder too. Jeremy basically ascendt to heaven in body & soul. He taught or at last tried with many people in the movie, his Science teacher, the policeman & his wife, the abother boys who were bullying him all the time....even to the 2nd policeman he treated to explain him how sacred the nature and the animals are, how much we must take care of them not hunt them because they are pure & innocent, part of us and God' creation. But was Lindsay the only one who understood how is that all us are connected, and for that she saw the special and kind, spiritual side of Jeremy and falled in love with him. Like he did for her. At last he found someone who loved him for who he really are, almost a divine being
