hello, nice review. but could you please tell how do these compare specifically detail wise? by detail i mean the ability to reveal quiet sounds that you don't even know are there in average headphones, AND the ability to do "layering" well (when you can easily hear and distinguish pads in music and what's happening in background without it being overshadowed by loud lead melody and drums) i suppose detail wise it's: dt990(worst) < k712 < k1990(best) (are akgs closer to 990 or 1990?)

After listening to them for an extensive time now, I would say that the AKG712 pros are my favorite because of how it pulls each sound apart. There are some songs that are scary good depending on the recordings but the sound separation is no where near close to the AKG. The shear depth is amazing and you can't go wrong. The amount of time that you can spend with them on your head without noticing them is considerable as well. There have been songs where there were whispers and they felt like they were singing behind me. I will forever have this headset in my collection. I feel like a bit of EQing them out is required but never ever regret this headset.

This is waste of time .. to hear this from a gamer perspective… if you’re a mixing ,mastering or recording engineer quit this video immediately.. this is a lot of talk just to figure our his reference is a game .. 😂 man this too long for comparison i advice less talk next time .. 👍

Yeah because I never said anything about mixing, mastering, or being a recording engineer. Also, the most commonly used one for that is actually the beyerdynamics DT1990 pro but I would actually recommend the Nueman NDH 30 headset if you are a music studio, engineer. Because you can't beat that headset at all for that.

I like sound of DT 990 but due to the size of my head it's not comfortable to wear for long time. AKG712 is perfect however I can't get a sound from it that I'd like. Could you please upload a higher resolution pic of your EQ settings? It's really hard to see in the vid, thanks!

The best policy for the akg is to move your frequencies higher for the lows, soften the mids downward along with the highs to take any harshness of them down. The highs and the mids are harsher so you need to slightly adjust them down.

I own the AKG k702's and after 3 years the plastic is starting to break down. Just a head's up.

Hey, that was an amazing review. Thank you! Do you mind sharing your eq settings for K712? It’s not even readable on the video.

Analytical if you are mixing and mastering with these. You want the sound to sound the least hyped and more flat...so a engineer will have a close to blank canvas. The more they are flat the better your mixes and masters will sound on all audio speakers and headphones...hope that helps.

Would you choose the 990's over the 770's (any experience with those)?
@gfxnoobs8712 жыл бұрын
I personally would go to the higher tear myself but that’s just me…lol

Funny you said "I would never listen to these" and then my wi-fi cut out 😶. Idk I go back and forth with eq, sometimes I feel if a set of cans needs eq you need to look for another set of cans...or learn to like their differences. Speakers on the other hand run into room acoustics and furniture, room size, etc. No problem eqing then. Aaaahh!!! He's going to eq a $500 set of cans!!!

The AKG712 pros have an amazing way of separating the sounds in a way that I haven't heard in most headsets. They are my favorite.

It very well could be but I am unfamiliar with what the amp is. The K712 wont require much power so its possible.

I’m having an issue. So I bought a Sound Blasterx G6 and the JDS Labs Atom amp for my DT 1990 Pros and honestly neither of them made a noticeable difference in sound quality to my ears compared to having no AMP. Is it because these are cheap? I’ve read a lot that the Atom amp is really fine for its price point. It just seems like a waste of money.

@@inthebackwiththerabbish youre good dude, to be honest dt 1990 pro dont make that much difference using a better amp, theyre much easier to drive because of their tesla drivers. On the other hand if you were using dt 990 pro same 250 Ohm impedance however they have a lower sensitivity so theyre harder to drive. JDS labs atom is more than enough to drive Dt 1990 pro.
@inthebackwiththerabbish3 жыл бұрын
@@paulalexandro4546 thanks bro. but i honestly hear no difference in sound quality with the jds labs atom amp. it just allowed me to make the headphones louder which wasn’t that useful since they get loud enough for me with no amp. why do people talk about how amps and dacs make a huge difference? are my ears not trained or something. i dont know

which pads do you run on the 1990 Pros?

which one of these 3 would be better for gaming immersion? by this i mean a large sound stage and solid imaging
@gfxnoobs8713 жыл бұрын
They all do well but in my opinion I believe the DT1990s force the sound into your ear the most direct. I play warzone with them and you can hear the people coming from great distances. You almost need to retrain yourself with a headset like these.
@gfxnoobs8713 жыл бұрын
Now if you are looking for a very wide sound stage, the AKG712 had the most impressive large stage sound. Not to mention the fact that it sounded the best on music and movies. I didn't care to game with them with Warzone compared to the others.
@Vojtic20VT3 жыл бұрын
Hi. Is the sound quality same as DT 990 Pro and the difference is only build, cable and extra pads or the sound is also different? Better? (for music) ?
@gfxnoobs8713 жыл бұрын
No, the DT1990 sound far surpasses the sound quality of the 990s. You need to watch my video talking about all 3 headsets. dt990, dt1990 pros, akg k712 pros
