Hello! Thank you for the wonderful video! I'm a Japanese viewer! I'm currently considering buying a CBR400R (in Japan, the CBR500R is sold as the CBR400R due to the license system). I have one question: is the CBR500R suitable for long-distance touring? I would like to travel long distances someday. I'm sorry for my poor English because I'm using a translation app. I'm waiting for your answer!
@AndreiM19952 күн бұрын
for touring is better cbx500 or kawasaki ninja 650

Yes it’s a upright sports bike so it’s pretty comfy

@@AndreiM1995 I can't ride either the CBX500 or the Ninja650 because the classification changes under the Japanese license system. In Japan, licenses are classified by engine displacement, not horsepower (my license only allows me to ride up to 400cc). But this was helpful! Thank you!

After spending 20 years mostly on IL4 sportsbikes, I can honestly say that my 2 year stint with my CBR500R as a commuter was probably the most fun. OK, not having your R1 available the day before doing a track day meant that the 500 had to potter down the back straight at Bedford, but everywhere else, it was wide open throttle and peg scratching. It did remind of me of my first big big; my old ZXR250C. 110mph top end and all the cornering in the world. Would I buy another CBR500R? If it had 65bhp, I'd definitely have one. The ergonomics are spot on, but it's lacking the headroom, particularly if you've always had a thou in the garage for the past 15 years. Fun bike to hone your skills on and also embarrass big cc boys on bumpy b roads.
@Titot18215 күн бұрын
Take the baffle out. OK, it might not be a 270° crank, but I remember my gen 1 CBR500 sounding somewhat respectable back in the day. I'd happily have another one as a commuter and workhorse, purely because it's quite an honest bike. OK, it only has 47bhp, but your other videos show that it's not half bad for the road. It can still keep up with traffic.
@jaydanCBR15 күн бұрын
@@Titot182 can’t take the baffle out. It’s welded in. I even screwed a whole to see if it was a screw holding it in :(
@Titot18215 күн бұрын
@@jaydanCBR Are you able to see if it's a or a rivet? Usually it's hard to tell if you don't have adequate light whether it's either or. In any case a 5mm drill through the centre should be enough to remove either the tack weld or the rivet centre. I know other manufacturers that have secured OEM baffles or homologated road legal exhausts with rivets (my 929 Blade's remus was a prime example) just to make it a big pain in the arse to do so. Also annoyingly (for machining reasons), the akra internals tend to be made from titanium, so if you end up with a Ti rivet or tack weld, low and slow with the drill will do it. Was the exhaust an factory option or an aftermarket purchase? I remember my 64 plate CBR500R came with the optional sports pack and SS Akra. In that instance the baffle was held in with an M4 hex. Same goes for the akras on my R1. But all it really does is just make that bark that bit deeper, which when you're doing a 2nd to 4th gear pull on a slip road encourages the bike on a bit more (even if it's a placebo effect).

The best drestricted motorcycle for a beginner, in Europe and Australia. Is the CBR650R. Once you go through all the modifications you can push about 80 to 90 horsepower out of it, so I personally believe your incorrect in saying the 500 is the best. If you're argument is price to performance then probably you are correct. But honestly if you want the best you've got to be willing to spend, it's that simple. They are everywhere in Australia, new riders buy them and drestricted them on basically day one. This is if you are truly talking about the BEST.
@jaydanCBR23 күн бұрын
You have to restrict the 650 thats why I said the 500 restricted

As a 650r owner for the A2 European license (restricted) I will say the 500r looks just as good if not better, is more confortable and light (easy to throw around corners), and has way more torque in low rpm which is great for learning because you will expect the power, unlike restricted in-line 4 engines that give all the power at high rpm catching you off-guard. I see the 500r gaining popularity, and I understand why. Also, for a 2 cylinder 180° engine, it sounds great, better than the kawasaki's engine. Over all it is great, I would also recommend the Yamaha R7, you can restrict it, is way more torquey, sounds flippin good, looks rad and once you grow out of it you can unrestrict it.

Hey what’s up, my name is Peer and I’m from Germany I have a few questions. If it’s ok 😅I bought exactly the same bike as you a few weeks ago and thought yours looked really cool. Funnily enough, I've even got the same exhaust as on you’re bike 😆. But I actually wanted to ask if you could link the other parts under one of your videos. For example, the mirrors or the number plate holder and possibly also your tyres/rims, because yours have this slight white stripe that makes the bike look even better! I would be delighted to hear your feedback 😁. And by the way, keep up the good work with your videos! I find them really good and helpful 👌
