1:29:30 - There‘s a simple explanation: The goal was to prevent the Sands from ever being gathered in a one huge vessel(such as the Hourglass). Therefore, no Maharaja taking them, no Prince releasing them, as it would have been impossible to simply drag this thing out of the Island.

I think the prince can fight the dahaka but he just can't win because the sword can't do permanent damage. He was cornered in the op and had no choice. My evidence for this is that there's a cutscene where the prince hits him with the sword as he was falling and it works

In sands of time when we pause or tries to quit,or in any other situation, prince voice says the story is not over or this is not how it happened,he was telling a past story not narrating it,which we came to know in pop tt ending whe begins telling the story from beginning to princess of india or farah. Btw i loked the tt type cutscene of the sot ❤

A thing I can mention about the Prince "killing" sand monsters with a new sword: It's probably Farah's amulet that lets him kill the monsters. In Warrior Within he has the amulet, which sucks up the sands and lets him use the powers of Sands of Time. Technically, there's also Two Thrones, where he doesn't have the amulet, but can also kill sand infected scythians with a little kitchen knife, so it's kinda 50/50

@NiCoNiCoNiCola Before the cutscene where Prince gets the Dagger of Time, enemies just die and lie down dead because the Sands of Time haven't been released from Kaileena yet. Once Kaileena is killed by the Vizir, and Prince gets the dagger, that's when the enemies start to become sand infected because the Sands of Time have been released, that's also what allows Dark Prince to manifest. TLDR; You never fight sand monsters with the kitchen knife from the beginning.

I never understood the people who complain that Warrior Within and Two Thrones do things differently than the Sands of Time and that it allegedly “doesn’t work as well”. These games are not Sands of Time. And as someone who played these games without rose tinted glasses, I thought they worked well enough. I think most people claim that the latter two games are somehow inferior, because they want to relive the Sands of Time experience and not because these games are genuinely worse.

I honestly love the unapologetic sexualisation in the game. I am so sooo sick of the rampant and cancerous political correctness in recent decades. And the crushing loneliness in the game’s atmosphere is very much intentional. People can’t seem to understand that this isn’t the kid from Sands of Time anymore. This is a full grown man that has been hunted by the Dahaka for years.

Okay I'll start with the fact that I'm writing this comment as I'm watching, but saying that the middle-eastern motifs in the music have been replaced is disingenuous. Yes, the OST leans a lot more on guitars and drums than SOT (which also did that if you recall), but outside of the combat tracks (and tbh, even some of them still) very much have the Persian vibe found in the original.

The market at the time was definitely not what it is today. Yeah it's cringe today, but at the time, it was catering to this demographic which isn't as mature as it is today. The further you go back in time when it comes to video game history, the more of a boy's club it was. FAKK 2, for example also was pretty shameless.. lol.. or even the video game magazines at the time like PC Accelerator. To Ubisoft's credit, they also put out titles like Beyond Good and Evil around the same time which offered a more mature take on a female character.

Honestly for me, the story of Two Thrones was one of its best things but there's one major problem i have with it: KAILEENA WAS DONE SO DIRTY IN IT. I understand what they were going for and what her death meant for the Prince's development but come on, she shoudn't have died so easily. I mean, she was the Empress of Time, the very vessel of the sands of time, someone who could SUMMON TORNADOES AND SLOW DOWN TIME, CREATE SAND CREATURES ON TOP OF BEING A MASTER SWORDSMAN ON THE SAME LEVEL ON THE PRINCE. SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN KILLED OFF SO EASILY. AT THE VERY LEAST THEY COULD HAVE HAD HER TAKING DOWN DOZENS IF NOT HUNDREDS OF SOLDIERS TO SHOW HOW POWERFUL SHE WAS!

Yup. They retconned out all of her powers, replaced with Padme levels of "she lost the will to live". I don't like this part because it doesn't really move past warrior within, it tries to walk it back. Prince isn't *mature* past his WW angry, angsty phase, he's back to being a kid, tempted by his dark ego to be the mean kid again, but turning out as the good kid starry eyed idealist, as if WW never happened. Both staying an angsty angry teenager and returning to an idealist youngster persona are wrong. It's been seven years + however long Warrior Within took. I needed him to be an adult in this one, arguing against the dark prince from a position of WISDOM, not kiddy idealism

This is to me one of the best coming-of-age stories and examples of character writing in any media. I mean is there a more perfect depiction of two naive teenagers trying to figure out their feelings for each other and how to be adults in a traumatic setting? There's so much character growth on the Prince's part, real emotional stakes and complexity, and at the end the real tragedy is growing up and accepting that life isn't fair. That you might not get the girl even when you do the right thing. I do think they consummate their relationship because thematically it doesn't make sense for them not to in the context of the story, but rather than showing something as awkward as it would realistically be, they're experiencing a shared vision of it being magical and perfect.

Great video. Two Thrones disappoints mostly by not being as good as the writing in Sands of Time. Which is a really high bar to hold it to, to be fair. Farah and the Prince come off as cardboard cutouts of the vibrant characters from SoT, but it's a serviceable, and occasionally even touching as a bookmark to the PoP trilogy.

I've really enjoyed your reviews on all four games in the prince of persia trilogy. I hope you played and are making a video on the Lost crown. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that game. It might have featured a new prince and setting but I think it has better acrobatics and mechanics than even this game and a very satisfying combat too.

21:24 for this, afaik, original draft of warrior within had Empress of Time as the villain and she'd use Enchantresses to break the mind of men as per various sources. So maybe that's why they have such BDSM-esque voicelines Also I wish he had monologues like T2T and SOT

Your and tycho's review on warrior within combat is simply wrong . Yes there is alot more combat than in the Sands of time but this time its actually good , if you know how to use combos and surroundings . If you don't like the combat and are there for platforming that's ok you can simply run pass enemies , no big deal . Just like in the Sands of time , right , right ...? No ,in previous sequel there is no running pass enemies , you literally Must fight with 15-20 enemies in stupid attack-defence boring gameplay . You are constantly fighting 4 enemies at once and have to watch over Farrah , or you can ignore enemies and keep marching , just to see Farrah get killed. Anyone who played Warrior within after Sands of time must have felt immense relief when enganing in combat , not the other way arround . So yeah , you are wrong my man , but pretty much everything else is spot on. Cheers.

Reason u r just cramming about the game when it is not due Do u play any game with the same intetn to just end the game and be done with it or enjoy it Did u play Witcher 3 so u cud kill eredin or for the eniterity of the splendid game it is Brother I suugest you give it more credit. It is a timeless masterpiece but your takes seems too one sided and rather spoken like someone doesn't actually enjoy games It doesn't matter how many games you play if u don't enjoy them. What's the point then?

Personally, I have more gripes with the gameplay than the story since playing it very recently... 1st, the Sand Credits are meh, don't like that there's a currency for basically extra art instead of upgrades or something more substantial 2nd, the Dark Prince is fun in combat scenarios but in platforming and in general I feel he could've used more polish, The dark prince from a gameplay perspective comes directly from the Sand Wraith from WW with the health slowly draining, but the sand wraith gave you regenerating sand and didn't kill you if you took your time with the puzzles/platforming, things that happened to me a couple of times with the Dark Prince and the checkpoints are TERRIBLE, if you mess up a dark prince part you have to start again from aaaaaaall the way from the beginning in most cases, this wouldn't be as much a problem if they A) gave the dark prince regenerating sand (or at least make it so that you can always regenerate at least 1 tank) or your health didn't drain till death. 3rd, continuing from the Sand Credits, there are no major upgrades like in warrior withing where you would get better swords, all the upgrades that you get are sand tanks and sand techniques, it would've been cool if we got any kind of upgrades, or anything to feel like we've progressed through the game besides your father's sword. 4th, if you obtain all of the life upgrades in WW you get the water sword which gives you the true ending and is a big bonus in damage, I feel like they could've at least made something or given you a reward for getting all of the hidden health upgrades. Overall, I feel like they tried to go back to the formula from SOT ignoring much of the great things that WW introduced, It's like WW did 10 steps forward and TT takes 2 steps back from the decisions or gameplay options that WW gave in order to go back to the style of SOT, which is pretty funny if you think about it, All of the game is based around moving forward and recognizing the past mistakes and learning about them instead of seeking the long way around to "fix everything" but the game does the exact opposite.

Worth noting that Ku never died, but was just critically injured and in essentially a coma. I believe originally she was going to pass away, but play testers basically told Moon that they wouldn't continue playing if she did. It was too much and like seeing a child killed off. So they elected to just place her in that coma like state and revive her back to consciousness at the end. I really wish we'd had more play with Ku. It had the opportunity for some creative pair work and puzzle solving. Also, Shriek did die. The guys did an AMA a few months ago and they confirmed as such

The message the game sends to the players is very important. It's to never give up and always move forward, even if you're in hell and all the odds are against you. The empress would spend her life believing, knowing that what's written in the timeline cannot be changed. Enters the Prince. Within the day or a couple of days time or so he gives her enough of hope just by his actions that after activating the two towers she changes her entire attitude and grabs her blades, believing that maybe there is a way to change one's fate that was already written.
