Are the parasitic characters already in hosts? If so, I wonder what their back stories are. Were the hosts willing? Were they criminals serving a sentence? Are the parasites malevolent? I will be watching the next one.

I gave a few gift cards for Hero Forge for Christmas. I have never ordered a mini myself though. I would enjoy seeing the digital and mini models side by side. I hear they do standees too. Space Station Zero looks like fun.

Just ordered the new version called Worldpanner Factions which has a solo mode/campaign built in. In the mean time, I'm dusting off my copy of this and trying to make sense of why I sorted it the way I did lol. Nice to see a new video about this game!

"Hunter-Slayer" is in lore for what many Astra Militarum regiments call Termagants, just as they often refer to the Carnifex as a "Screamer-Killer". The expression has dropped out of use allot in more modern 40k lore along with Screamer-Killer.
@TheBoardGameTeacher13 күн бұрын
Yes, I remember that from my days playing tyranids when they had first come out. I still remember those targeting templates for where to hit the Screamer Killer (and other dreadnought sized things) but my powergaming friend always took Eldar with Guide so his D-Cannons would always hit my Screamer Killer in the head turn 1~
@markthompson-wood6004Ай бұрын
Your melee combat was incorrect. In melee: compare attack vs dodge. Not attack vs attack . So Perry was better by 1 (still a hit) and the black panther was better by 2 (still a hit)..
@markthompson-wood6004Ай бұрын
For the drafting. The draft should be W1-B2-W2-B2-W1? Was team white not supposed to pick 2 in draft round three? They only picked Clara Barton… not too big a deal..
@TheBoardGameTeacherАй бұрын
D'oh! You are right. That could have made a big difference, but to be honest, I was not carefully studying the characters, so I do not know if I would have made the "best" choice that would have tipped the balance. Before you hit Patreon, I suggest that you start finding your groove for the channel. I'm retired now, but I used to host a Games Club in my high school because I was convinced that ALL games have educational value. The amount of value and who benefits from it varies, but that's where you come in. I don't think education should be limited to the classroom. The classroom is, for varying reasons, restricted. What about after school? What about at home? Consider the value of games for toddlers, children, pre-teens, teens, young adults, adults, seniors, non-English speakers and people with disabilities. What's being gained? What is the player exposed to? What is being reinforced? You should have fun on your channel as a priority, but I think you should keep a lean toward education because it sets you apart. Maybe the channel name could be changed. Learning Games? The School of Games? Game College? The University of Play? It's important to stay far away from the edutainment concept because the recipient of edutainment knows that they're being given a pill disguised as something else. Instead, focus on the fun and mention how participation betters the players. I hope to see videos from you. I believe in this concept.

You may need to update your description of this video and add that you have made a boo-boo regarding the rules. You only "BANK" a tile if you "NAB" another players word during the game, each time you NAB a word, you gain a tile for your BANK (You can only bank one tile per round, regardless of the amount of words you nab during your turn). There is nothing in the rules that says that if you don't want to make a move on your turn, you can bank a tile. The only rule listed about not playing any tiles is that you can use your turn to discard tiles and exchange them with other tiles from the bag. Hope that helps.

There were a couple of important errors in the battle example. The unit of Lesser Warbeasts wasn’t battered, it only had to retreat in good order after tying with the elite humans. Also, assuming it was battered, on the next turn when it failed to rally but didn’t dissolve, it should have lost another strength point and retreated another full move.

@@TheBoardGameTeacher It would be so great if you manage it! Its the best of the "war games" series, these games with the tokens of that period, because is one of the simplest ones. But because the play and scoring its so asymmetric I think it still counts as a little difficult for a boardgame. The designer of the game also had said at some point, that its easy to play solo too .. if the Tyranid player just rushes , so you could play as the Eldar player solo, he meant.

The mind slaves are essentially the direct link to the previously published Space Crusade by Milton Bradley. It enabled those who owned that game to incorporate the alien models into the “advanced” version of Space Crusade. But of course, it is also an incentive for players to buy more models 😊

Very cool, simple game. Did the math and found the optimal strategy is to roll two dice, and if the sum is less than 7, roll one more time. It seems the odds of getting a double from the fourth roll is too high to be worth it.

I was just having a discussion with my friend who has a boy looking to go to college. I played Candy Land with him once when he was five. He wasn't following the rules, and I jokingly said, "Hey, no cheating!" He burst into tears. Whoops. What is your opinion on how to impress the importance of rules?
@TheBoardGameTeacher9 ай бұрын
Playing games is entering a social contract with the other players. So in a game with my granddaughter and myself I know she sometimes cheats, and sometimes I let her, as the focus is on having fun. But she has to understand too, that not everyone is going to be as forgiving as Papa and so she needs to know that cheating is (sometimes) not okay,
@chrisdonovan87959 ай бұрын
@@TheBoardGameTeacher I teach HS PE. Knowing the importance of rules is important. Related to this is honesty. Although it's not rampant, competitive kids sometimes cheat under pressure. I've successfully addressed it from time to time, but it's hard to correct at that age.

@TheBoardGameTeacher9 ай бұрын
Thank you for your support. More is coming, I have resolved now to truly get back to it. Great to hear that you are running the game club at your high school and while you are not reaching the ones you were hoping to, don't give up! We are not always going to be able to help those that we aim to, but sometimes we make the difference, without realizing. Trying to convince high school students to join a board game club can be a tough sell, particularly if they do not have a background of games. Not sure if your kids did or not, but just speaking from my own personal experiences. If you can find a way to incorporate games in the classroom, then this might be a way to change some of their opinions about boardgames, or at least make their learning more engaging!

In adding the score on Nab-It does a word that is only a single layer (has never been Nabed) count as a point for the player who played it?
@Lssah20063 ай бұрын
I would suggest, no. The rules state: Nabbing is the name of the game, because it's how you score. You NAB a word from another player by stacking the HIGHEST tile in that word. In example 2, green nabbed 'game' by changing it to 'tame'. Green now controls that word, but control may (and probably will) change hands several times more before the game ends. If I am reading it correctly, a single layer of words would be at the same level, without a higher tile stacked on top, therefore it would not count because nobody 'controls' that word. hope that makes sense
