Nice. I have a 2006 1200L, white, black, and orange. Mines carbureted. I don't want to get into that computerized stuff. I want something I can work on. Mine also has a 19" tubeless front tire/wheel and mid controls, aftermarket slip on exhaust, and a short sissy bar without the pad. I always let it warm up for about 10 minutes before taking off if it has been sitting long enough to be completely cold. Not good to put a load on a cold engine.

I don't know about the other two devices but about Podofo A3526 I can tell you from my own bad experience DON'T BUY IT!!! The company is lying about almost everything. Firstly, it isn't android 13 it is android 10 (fake 13), secondly android auto is incompatible with many mobile phones. I have a Poco F2 Pro (known as Xiaomi K30 Pro) with 8 Gb of ram and it has great issues working with Podofo A3526. For example when you receive a call it throws you back at the home screen and you can't see neither who is calling nor take the call. For an unknown reason it deleted all my contacts (almost every time I used it and had to recover them from the recycle bin and not google account because of the synchronization there were deleted from there too) and also you must be of (great) lack to achieve connection with a bluetooth headset. It is very slow, and in some cases almost no responsive (lag). They advertise a sensor light but it doesnt have any and under bright light it is difficult to see. After barely 6 months of ownship, GPS stopped all of the sudden receiving any signal (couldn't reach any satelite). Keep in mind that I park my motorcycle in a garage and I live in a Mediterranean country where cold and rain are very mild. In fact A3526 was never exposed to rain or water of any kind even when i was washing the mororcycle i used a plastic bag to protect it. At the begging I thought it was the antenna so I bought a new GPS antenna but with no lack. When I contacted the store (I bought it frοm their official AliExpress store "Podofo Russian Factory") to report the problem I was facing especially with the GPS and also to ask for their help (tip or anything they could provide), apart that it is extremely difficult to communicate with this people in the English language (probably they depend exclusively on google translate), they didn't accept to fix it or replace it although the warranty was still active (1 year at their Aliexpress Store and 2 years at their internet site). From the other hand AliExpress official platform with which I communicated in order to report the store's attitude (and at least their lack of professionalism) I got the following disappointing answer: "We are sorry to inform you that since the buyer protection has been already, you do not have the option to open a dispute to this item and the payment has been release to the seller." In my opinion look elsewhere or you will probably cry your hard earned money as I did with my 140+ euros...

I think Alpinestars says that you need 4cm of circumference extra in a jacket. That isn’t too much. It certainly isn’t 4cm in every direction. That would be huge. I’m concerned about the breathability. I don’t ride in the heat of the summer now. I’m sure they will get better and better in the future. I like the serviceability of the 7x, but it is more expensive and has a long back pad that probably wouldn’t stay under my jackets.
@smackbikeNZ25 күн бұрын
Yeah, that 4cm thing seems very subjective. I'm gonna go with what the gear shop says when I go there. It was looser than I thought for standard gear, but tighter than I thought for alpinestars gear with airbag support... so really difficult to tell.

Absolutely hyped crap. It doesn't do anything other than mirror the phone. Unfortunately, most of the apps that are interesting for motorcyclists are poorly implemented in Android Auto/AppleCarPlay! Which means you can't zoom... functions are missing. And you end up fiddling around with your phone again. This is for people who drive from A to B with Maps or who want to make a lot of compromises... I think it's crap.
@smackbikeNZАй бұрын
Appreciate your perspective. However my experience is different. I simply love it and the power of Android Auto... and my phone being mirrored to my bike is ideal. Does exactly what I want it to do, with the apps that I have loaded.
@ollicat2006Ай бұрын
how do you secure it to the bike when you leave your bike unattended? Or is it easy to disconnect to take with you?
@smackbikeNZАй бұрын
Just have it attached via the quadlock attachment. I don't bother removing tbh, since it looks "built in" so hoping nobody has a go. However, it is a 10second job to remove it, just detach from quadlock mount, and manually unscrew the cable behind it. Not as cool as an integrated mount, but you "get what you pay for"

My 07 was my favorite bike in my 40 years of riding. I do have a 2015 now and absolutely love it, but the 07 was IMO, perfect. It was a sweet spot in the first generation 1200 - it had been lightened immensely from the 1150, it was first year without servo brakes, last year before the 08 visual refresh, which I did not care for, and the first gen 1200 was the lightest of the GS bikes before it began creeping back up in weight.

If anyone is considering buying this... Don't bother (A3526). I ended up returning it, after just a few hours of usage. It's so slow and unresponsive. The text is so small when using Android auto, which makes it very hard to read. The touch functionality is also 50/50. Sometimes it registers, sometimes it does not. Save your money and buy a quality product like Carpuride or Chigee AIO Play.

Money argument is a little bit off in my opinion. Is it a lot of money you need to spend at once ? Maybe. It depends on how much money you make. Is it expensive ? Don't think so, considering that this tech can save your life or mitigate major injury. If you are going to have an accident and won't be able to work for couple of months (at best) than that's very expensive. Much more than 1000 bucks. In my opinion. This year a also bought airbag system. I choose in&motion and vest from french company Furygan. Evolution+ is thier latest airbag that allows you to wear it under or on top of your jacket. I combined this with Pandomoto AA shell.
@smackbikeNZ2 ай бұрын
@ardilladent yup, you are right. It wasn't that it was expensive, more that I went ahead without discussing it with her. She and I are both happy I am much safer. So all good. Thanks for your comment.
@4940markhutchins2 ай бұрын
All of these airbag systems have their pros and cons. After looking around, I went with the Klim A1 Rally vest because it’s stretchy, least bulky and most breathable, In&Motion is a proven algorithm, and I can replace the gas cannister. I wear it 100% of the time when I ride.
@volvogt212 ай бұрын
You need to confirm the vest has recognised you are wearing it and has passed the self test. Green light only!!!!!! Dont just see leds and ride. It won't be armed. Plus don't forget to get it serviced every 250 hours
@smackbikeNZ2 ай бұрын
Yup, only takes a few seconds for the amber light to go off and to have one green. Still loving the vest

Seems to be a big waste of money nothing your phone can’t do unless it has reverse camera which you don’t need on a bike anyway. Then you would have to remove so it’s not stolen be easier to remove phone and put it in your pocket. Doesn’t make any sense.

I have the same Tech Air 5 and never ride without it. It is now three years old and has never deployed. I want to keep it that way. In summer it can add to the heat as the airbag does not flow air to the skin, but I get by wearing it under a Revit Sand 4 adventure jacket, which flows a lot of air if all the linings are removed and vents opened. In summer I am wearing only a T shirt under the airbag and jacket and its fine as long as I am moving. The one downside not mentioned is that the long back protector gets in the way of zipping the Sand 4 pants to the jacket, but I figure that it I come off, the inflated air bag inside the jacket will keep it in place on my body with no chance of riding up while sliding down the road. Cheers, Alan.

I think the techair is the best system out there. Im suprised at the price in NZ crazy expensive. Here in Australia there $1100. Techair 7 $1500. One thing is that all airbags doesnt matter what brand will trap heat on summer.

@markperkins85482 ай бұрын
It's good that you are looking for additional crash protection and having purchased it, it will be justified if/when you happen to come off. I went through the same decision making process, though it wasn't an impulse buy. The reason I went with a Helite Turtle 2 jacked as that when it was set-off, I could replace the cartridge myself and be back on the bike in a few minutes, avoiding having to send the jacket back for inspection, as it works off a lanyard and not an electronic inertia sensor. The other point was that it is worn external to my textile jacket and not inside leathers which might be damaged by the inflation or compress you further with the leathers restraining it's expansion. The Moto GP rider's leathers are designed to allow an internal airbag function, I'm not so sure about their off the seld leathers. One word of caution with the Helite lanyard activated vests, make sure there is sufficient slack that it doesn't go off simply because you start to dismount forgetting to disconnect the lanyard. The vest going off scares the crap out of you, as well as taking your breath away momentarily.
@smackbikeNZ2 ай бұрын
Yes I did pause between the Tech Air and Helite, eventually went with Tech Air for the reasons stated. But regardless, any airbag adds that safety factor and glad you have one!
