Looks to have some skill but 174lbs. Something ain’t right. He’s been a pro for 3 yrs and hasn’t built up nhl size? If u are 6’ and want to play w the big boys as a wing I think u need to pack on 20lbs of muscle. Curious about the guys off season regimen. Idk 25 goals for last 2 yrs is commendable but do we actually need another small player. Seems u are trading apples for apples and this young guy won’t get a chance either w Hynes. Lol. I’m hoping Beckman breaks thru w the Devils and proves these non believers wrong. The coaching process and development crew in the AHL IOWA camp are substandard to say the least. Someone said Iowa is where prospects go to die or get traded. I think they are on to something

Are you drunk? Player Development for the Wild has sucked for YEARS! Name THREE players in their team history who've played 2 or more season in Iowa and then came up and became a full time player? Iowa & the MN Wild are where prospects go do die!!!

Not drunk (yet today anyways)! A Brand new Crop of Young Players entered last year, as the Wild have one of the best Prospect Pools in the League. Furthermore, even more coming this year. Plus new management in Iowa. PLUS (knock on wood) the injury bug doesn't hit the Wild this year and make it so the ony Veterans had to come up and down. Man, the Negativitiy is strong today. It's Friday...crack a cold one & enjoy some highlights🍻

@@thesotapod Great highlights, but I have been a season ticket holder since Day 1, have attend about 80% of the games in that time. This team has a terrible management group right now and haven't been successful since Yeo was coaching down there. But if you can name me THREE players in their history, I will admit I was dead wrong. It should be very concerning that Beckman never made it out, that all our "D" prospects are under performing. Bomber has been terrible in developing our kids. Just go back and look at the drafts and see all the 1st - 3rd rounds who flamed out. Sorry, not trying to be negative because I want a cup here bad, but until Billy and his staff are gone, there are just more bad decisions on the way. Noah Warren is coming. The Ducks don’t need or want Silayev at 3OA. Verbeek has been deeply invested in exploring Demidov as a possibility. Was personally at the “Russian combine” to meet him. I’ve heard it wasn’t their first meeting. The Ducks biggest positional need is top 6 RW as far as their core is concerned. If he doesn’t pick Demidov I’m hearing it’s Lindstrom to hedge against a possible Zegras trade and to confine to double down on the snarl GMPV loves.

Im sure gms from picks 5-8 are going to try and tell conroy they're taking Tij to try and get him to trade up and give up the 28th pick, but this draft is so up in the air that Conroy will likely tell them to go for it. The flames are still going to get a solid player at 9th. Conroy might even play an uno reverse card and trade down a few spots to add a prospect and draft a guy like Helenius, making all these mock draft scenarios look silly.

the hawks top d-pairing is vlasic and jones (both signed for the next 6 years). kfc just drafted korch to be their future pp qb 2 years ago. korch being an offense first def, is better suited to being paired with a shutdown def (like emery/elick etc.). the hawks also have kaiser, edm (who played some right side in rockford), allan, and rinzel (rhd) otw. rinzel's numbers (at minn) were pretty similar to lev's numbers this past season. the hawks would most likely have to wait 4-6 years before they get to see their #2 overall pick playing top pairing minutes. if they go forward, where they actually have a glaring need (bedard stands alone). the hawks could start seeing a return on that investment much earlier, as soon as 2-3 years. the hawks also have murphy signed for 2 more years, and are rumored to be interested in bringing in another top 4-ish vet-def this offseason. imo lev isn't an ideal fit w/ the timeline of the hawks current rebuild plan.

My question for the mailbag: assuming we ignore taking BPA at 13, and there are no surprise fallers from the projected top 5, does Z think it is more likely that the Wild take a forward or a defenseman with their first pick?

Demidov has the most impressive and distinctive style I’ve seen in a hockey player in basically forever. But it’s not hard to see why he’s not an automatic top 5 pick. Apart from the sub-WHL-level competition he’s been playing against, his wonky knee, avg size and weird skating technique, I do think the SKA factor is a concern. If SKA wants him and he refuses to sign, he’s essentially guaranteed to spend another crucial development year rotting in the MHL, and there are rumours that they could also make his family’s life miserable. Could a professional sports franchise really be that petty, or is this just a pile of xenophobic rumour-mongering? Who knows! All I know is that no GM wants to whiff on a top 5 pick, and there are definitely much safer options on the draft board…

It was a power struggle between Darwitz and Klee. Klee won because he had the backing of Coyne (The PWHL league darling) and they could not deny her and the power she wields. Darwitz was the right choice, Klee is a good coach but after the 2024 draft, not a great GM prospect. Minnesota finishes 4th at best but probably 5th in the 2025 season. Everyone got better except Minnesota. The new GM should trade Coyne and stop all the nonsense. No player should have that much power. Move her to a Canadian team. The only good thing to come of this is they will have a shot at Abbie Murphy in next years draft.

I beg you pardon? Move her to a Canadian team? We have higher ethical standards and given her role in drafting Bitter Girl she has no hope in hell of being welcomed to a Canadian team! Now even Bitter Girl will face backlash when she is up here. Ironically, she has made herself a target to all who loathe what she holds dear. Beginning with the straights! She is in for a rough ride. It would behove Americans to realize winning at all costs never ends well. The game is supposed to be fun and full of camaraderie. Thanks Klee, you have ruined it for all of us. I have not decided yet if I will divest myself of my season’s tickets, but I will boycott all Minnesota games. When the league said hockey was all inclusive, that did not include an individual so full of hatred. She does not belong here.

So of course none of the broadcasters said anything during the draft about it. It's a shame that there isn't more transparency about it all. I wonder if the league will look at club ownership like soccer, other hockey clubs around the world, etc in the future

The PWHL front office sabotaged the draft for Minnesota. Perhaps not not with malice, but the results are the same. Not having a GM in place was a major disadvantage for Minnesota, and the team made major mistakes in the draft because of it. Selecting SCSU Forward Klára Hymlárová in the 3rd round instead of Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award Forward Izzy Daniel was a big mistake. No one before or during the draft would believe that Hymlárová is a better prospect than Daniel. Hymlárová was likely a 4th or 5th round prospect, so why did Minnesota select her so early? This was a reach to be sure, and Minnesota fans cannot understand the reasoning behind it. Subsequently, Minnesota selected Brooke McQuigge in the 4th round. She wasn't expected to go until the very late rounds or not even at all. Why was she chosen in the 4th round with so many higher rated prospects on the board? Even if she was a sleeper, Minnesota could have added her in the 7th or called her right after the draft to add her as a free agent in camp. If Minnesota had taken Izzy Daniel in the 3rd, as they should have, they could have selected Hymlárová in the 4th and left McQuigge until the 7th. They basically traded a consensus second round prospect in Daniel for a consensus undrafted free agent player in McQuigge. Daniel was drafted by offensive juggernaut Toronto. Minnesota gets a bottom six role player, and Toronto gets the best player in women's NCAA hockey last season. Minnesota fans are left wondering if Minnesota was told not to take Minnesota players by the league or by select players on the team that sided with coach Ken Klee in his dispute with former Minnesota GM Darwitz. Is that why GM Darwitz was fired so close to the draft? Was it because she wouldn't play ball? Ken Klee wanted to be the Minnesota GM last season, as well as head coach, and he shown tonight that he could not cut it as the GM. Making huge mistakes in the mid rounds in such a small league can be devastating, as one team's loss is another team's gain, and the teams are already close in talent. If it wasn't for the loss of league MVP Spooner in the playoffs for Toronto, Minnesota likely would have been dispatched in the first round after limping into the playoffs. It could be argued that Minnesota had the worst draft of all of the teams, and that could drop Minnesota out of the playoffs this upcoming season. Wouldn't that be nice for PWHL front office.

Raoul Boilard from QMJHL. 😅/ Teddy Stiga from USDP If Eiserman falls, MTL might like him the most considering Iginla and Lindstrom’s status. After watching some of the media interviews with the prospects at the NHL draft combine, I think the Wild really like MBN, I do too, but I think we gotta take Eiserman at 13, he’s elite, he’s young, smart, has more room to develop and already has a respectable floor. We need goal scoring and that’s what also intrigues me about MBN and his shot. Sennecke has a lot of potential but seems pretty raw and will need some time to get professional. Yakemchuck is good for sure but I don’t think he fits our locker room culture. But in order I’d take Eiserman, then MBN, then Sennecke, then Yakemchuck. What do you think?
