confused as to which type coupler works with those that come on the machine--there are no specifications. In the old days we had two different types. Is everything universal now?

Just got mines, and spot on about the ease of carry with this compressor. I love it so far

Thankfully, those outrageously loud, gas-powered leaf-blowers (the worst invention ever conceived by man) are being banned by more and more municipalities and suburbs. Furthermore, there is nothing more ridiculous than to pay some "landscaping company" idiot walking knee-deep through piles of leaves attempting to blow them "away" when there in NO "away". More often than not, the wind blows them right back again. Fine, the much quieter, sound-muffled blower models might suffice, but really, the ideal method is to use vacuum-cleaning devices, otherwise, get off your fat butt and use a rake just like in the good old days (yes, newbies, the good old days were better in many ways), or, why not hire teenagers to do the job just like they'll shovel snow from your steps and driveway. They could use the extra cash, no doubt.

I have this, bought it 5 or 6 years ago. It started overheating and failing to charge the tank. Took it apart - the fan blades had ALL broken off and the jumper hose from the pump to the tank had split open. That was easy enough to repair, but the cooling fan is not replaceable as it was never sold as a separate part. Now I have to search the internet and hopefully find a solution. Pain in the butt. This unit - for me - has an end of life date of 2027. I want to keep it running, but this overheating thing is a real problem.

I thought rigid has a lifetime warranty.. Return it.
@InexplicableBill7 ай бұрын
@@kelvinperry3891 Not sure what country you live in but here in the US Rigid products have limited warranties. This same model right now at Home Depot comes with a 3 year limited warranty. I'm well beyond that.

Oiled compressors tend to be better overall and have better performance and better longevity overall. However, oiled compressors typically are more expensive as well. If you use air tools or are a framer by trade buy an oiled compressor if you can an oiled compressors will typically last over +20 years. Oil-free air compressors are just over-sized tire inflators are aren't meant to last for 5 years at best.

What about the oil turning to sludge in the cold?
@happycat04117 ай бұрын
@@ILoveGlock1019 Synthetic oils were designed by NASA to deal with the extreme hot and cold temperatures in space so there is no need to worry about the synthetic oil in an air compressor freezing up or breaking down due to excessive heat due to extreme hot/cold temperatures.

@@happycat0411 was only asking because I’m about to go buy one but couldn’t decide on oil lube or oil free. The oil lube one actually happens to be about $60 cheaper in regards to your earlier statement.

@@happycat0411 I’m from Michigan and the weather varies was worried about the oil lube operating in the winter.
@happycat04117 ай бұрын
@@ILoveGlock1019 I used to frame as well as we used a Jenny oiled air compressor when it was -35 Celsius outside and the air compressor had no problems in freezing sub zero temperatures. Synthetic oil was originally designed by NASA for use in space so any good synthetic oil will hold its viscosity / fluidity even at -50 Celsius.
