Issued to make money from mugs who buy this stuff. There is no need for it. If you pay more that the Spot silver price you are a LOSER.
@LesCoins-uk6 сағат бұрын
Wow.. don't hold back!! You clearly have never bought a car and lost money on it. Yes, these coins can be expensive, but the collectability outweighs the cost in a few years. Even this year's new Royal Mint Silver Sovereign, which cost me a lot more than spot value, is now changing hands for over £200.... to me that's a £70 gain in a month. So while collectors make money in the long term, others "losers" will not.

@@LesCoins-uk I own 2 cars. A 1948 Mk. 6 Bentley and a 1962 Morris Minor 1000. Both are worth more than I paid after adjustment for inflation.
@LesCoins-uk6 сағат бұрын
@@JamesWilliamson-w8y Nice cars! However you've countered your own argument with this evidence. They are worth considerably more than their original value. My own example would be - Gold price = £2100 per oz, and there's approx. 30g to 1oz. £2100 / 30 = £70. Gold Sovereign = 8g (rounded up) = £560, but I paid £800 for a proof version. That same coin is now changing hands for £1200. I may have paid above spot price, but the collectability will win 99% of the time.

Good question. Not sure to be honest. It may be case of collecting them in case they are low mintage, so become hard to get, or like me, to compete a year run or ensure I have 1 of each issued... others treat them like Pokemon - gotta buy 'em all 🤣

Hi Tom. Great question! It's a bit of both for me. Initially bought for collecting/hobby purposes but then after a couple of years, even if silver stays around the same price, the collectability of the coins or bar will go up, and in turn the price others would be willing to pay. Thanks for the compliment... and the accent is Bristolian (I'm from Bristol, England, (in case you're not local 😉) Cheers.

Any idea how to remove glue from similar coins.. T.Y.
@LesCoins-uk5 күн бұрын
Hi Steven. Glue on coins is a real bugbear of mine. Removing glue depends on the sort of glue and how thick it is. Many people use turps/paint thinner, others use nail polish remover. Another option could be to use extremely hot water. Submerse the coin for a few minutes, letting the hot water soften the glue, then you may be able to scrape it off with a thumbnail. Don't forget - the coin will be hot! Good luck. Cheers.
