Hi, Thanks for stopping by. These coins are no longer in circulation in the UK, but are collectable, even more so outside the UK. They aren't worth a lot, but you could keep it and maybe look for other old one pound coins to build a set? Try this site - it lists out all the old coins - www.changerange.net/1pound.htm?fbclid=IwAR09LpFe5X3OhKbktt5rl3zlakp0ez6DJo_NkXIhsibcdD4gL4hqdXb7B88 Cheers.

Hi Louis. The IoM has commemorative coins issued quite often, and this is a good example. Many are issued in silver as well as the normal cupro-nickel. They also issued coins, as part of an overall set including Jersey & Guernsey, for the Queens Platinum Jubilee and the King's coronation.... amongst others. Cheers.

Also consider if you want just the 1oz coins or the 2oz and so on.... there is a 1kg version of the St George & Dragon for about £1000, so double check your basket before clicking the buy the button! Good luck. Cheers.

is it true that it cost 3 cent to make 1 cent? id stack all the pennys we can
@LesCoins-uk8 күн бұрын
I've heard that, but I'm not too good on US coins. The 1 cent is now copper plated steel, but was previously bronze, a mix of copper and about 12% tin. I think the change over was in 1992... so you'd be looking at pre-1992 1 cent coins for "copper" stacking. Shouldn't be too hard to do as the US still has "pennys" from at least 100 years ago in circulation. Good luck. Cheers.

Hi, I think it will happen one day, just not in the next 20 years at least. There's so much planning that a government would have to consider due the effect on the economy of the country involved... a penny increase from 99pp to £1 once, acceptable, but every item, every day? Doesn't sound like a lot at the beginning, but in the long run the cost of living would go up. In the UK we have VAT included in the price, but in the US, for example, tax is calculated when you go to pay. How would you pay the odd 1,3,7,9 cents without a 1 cent coin? The same would apply anywhere else. Enough doom & gloom... have a great day. Cheers.
@marknorville41929 күн бұрын
I have to laugh, most of the news article is just waffle and then you do a 6 minute and 22 second video of waffle. I do not want to see coins scrapped, but I think that 1p and 2p have had their days now, I would sooner pay £2.00 for something, rather than £1.99 and having a penny in my pocket, or rather piggy bank. It would save a lot of hassle from taking coins and melting them down, or producing more needless coins. However, hopefully not in my life time, but we will see money scrapped and just a cashless based society. We are already heading towards a Star Trek universe where they have scrapped currency in European Countries, so you have just the euro. The future has already been written and sadly, we cannot do anything to change that future.
@LesCoins-uk9 күн бұрын
Ah, but the waffle I was avoiding related to the fluffy filler type, used by the media. My waffle was pertinent to the topic (and I don't think I strayed off topic too much... unlike the media 😎). As for going cashless, I agree, and also not likely in my lifetime either. That said, if it was based on the Star Trek world, the whole planet would have to go cashless, else we'd be over run with Ferengi and their gold pressed Latinum bars & strips, but that's another issue. Cheers.

@LesCoins-uk29 күн бұрын
Hi. The 1990 should have a Leek on the reverse (for Wales) - mintage = 97,269,302. The 2000 coin has a dragon, also for Wales. Mintage was higher for that one, 109,496,500. Both are fairly common here, even though they are no longer legal tender. They are worth holding on to for a collection if you are not UK based. Other local collectors may be interested too. Cheers.

@LesCoins-ukАй бұрын
Hi, It sounds like the 1945 coin has been attacked by a sander or Dremel, so just the King's profile remains. Normal wear & tear is unlikely. The other coin sounds like a joke coin, or something used by magicians..... or it's that person with the sander again! I did a video on 29 February about a half crown I have that turned out to be a magician's coin. If you would like to email me some clear photos I'm more than happy to take a look....
