I also noticed this was your 2nd motor this year too. What’s causing it? Are you jetted too lean?

I got my needle in the right position and now it seems fine. I think the reason it seized this time was the crank bearing hopefully. The first time coolant slowly leaked out of the drain plug so the bearing could have been damaged from the heat and I didn’t catch it when rebuilding it.

@@tannerblakely556x the bottom end will rarely go out before the top of it's a heat issue. 32:1 with any premium oil and proper jetting those yz bottom end will last hundreds of hours. My boys 125 probably had over 300 hrs.

I believe my crank bearing is damaged from when it overheated the first time. Hopefully the bearing just locked up.

What's your jetting specs on that bike? Seems like you've had jetting issues on a few of the races you've posted. I fouled plugs for about the 1st month I had the bike until I got the jetting dialed. Can't remember the last one I fouled. Sounds rich for sure, another race sounded really lean when it locked up. The needle is the culprit in these X's. Also, cut the head or go aftermarket. It stabilizes the jetting a ton. I'm at a 50 pilot, second clip on the needle, and 170-172 on the main. Just depends where I'm riding. Good luck.

I always put the proper main jet in but that wasn’t enough. What I found to work is dropping the needle and it’s been working ever sense. Now I don’t have to rejet it very often and I have no problems. When it locked up it turns out the coolant leaked out of the drain causing the piston to get to hot and shatter.

Is it ok for enduro? Slow tehnical riding? Or it is still a mx bike??

It is the x version which is off-road. It has softer better suspension for trails, lower first gear, 18” rear wheel and more controllable power. Yes it does pretty good in slow technical and has the power to climb.

@@2WheelDerness It can preform but if you are mostly riding enduro I would recommend a European bike. It still has similarities to a motocross bike.

Your jetting is way lean, it sounded quite lean from the start. The erratic revving is a tale tell sign. Not to be a know it all, just had a lot of experience with the YZ s. Have lmr cut your head, those X heads have detonation issues. Best of luck.

My bike has always ran rich sense the day it left the dealer, so we have been running it a jet lean this race two lean. Strangely my plug was dark when I pulled it so I’m not sure what happened. Thanks for the advice

We got Tanner's motor running again. So we found 2 things wrong, his piston skirt exploded and he was extremely low on coolant. The Piston only had like 35 hours on it, so I assume the low coolant allowed it to overheat and destroy the Piston.
