Let me offer you a few tips from experience. Have your rod ready to fish before you get to the water. When you get there, get down as low as you can and move down to the water`s edge and do not make any sudden moves, move smoothly. If you are not going to eat the fish you catch, ONLY use barbless hooks or crush the barbs on the flies you are using. It makes getting the hook out very easy and does not hurt the fish. I tie all of my flies with either barbless or crushed barb hooks. It makes a world of difference, but you must keep tension on the line at all times or the fish will come off. I live up in Winston Salem, NC and it is good to see local guys fishing, camping, hunting, and trapping on KZbin. Good luck, be safe, watch out for Cottonmouths, and I look forward to more of your videos.

@stillwater62 yeah thanks for the tips and yeah I do like to fish barbless and I do most of the time but I swear almost every time I film I use older flies which I havnt crushed the barbs yet or I completely forgot to crush them and I also like barbless because it's easier to unhook from yourself as well lol

Nice fishing trip. When you caught a flyer I figured you were on the east coast somewhere...NC or SC. I am 76 years old and have been an avid fisherman since I was 9 or so. We moved to a location that had a local small pond and my brother and I practically live there. I got my first fly rod for my 12th birthday. We were poor as dirt so when I opened that gift, I was stunned to tears. Through the years I moved on to baitcasting and some tournament fishing but lost interest in it and went back to the fly rod chasing bass, bream and crappie. My wife and I would take annual trips out west to Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico, fly fishing mountain streams for trout. Having a nice little 24 ft off road travel trailer, we would stay on the road for 5 weeks or so. Since then, I have gone back once again to chasing bream and crappie mostly. Needing another challenge, I have now gotten a tenkara rod. I haven't fished it yet, just waiting on the right weather. I subbed. I made this video years ago. The quality is crap as was the editing. This channel was set up to show family some of these videos but I never posted anymore. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6bTqmyIgcaChtU

If you are going to use that particular fly, then you should use a very small ball bearing swivel between your leader and tippet. That line twist is so aggravating, and the swivel will put a stop to it pronto. I was raised down around Southern Pines, Pinehurst, and Aberdeen. I love the black water, fishing for Jack, Bass, Shellcrackers, and Bluegill. There is something very special about that area, the Sandhills.

I filled up my yoyo with maçon then i spooled 30lb braid over it and it cast pretty f in far. If the yoyo is empty like that it is harder for the line to get out. So fill her up

I could be wrong, but does the split side of that "T" snap around the rod, and the line spool snap onto the nub side? It looks like it would keep the spool on the rod.

Solid on sharing your story bud, that's not easy. Glad to hear you are doing better and on the right path. I'll keep watching and look forward to the future of the channel.

@@notreelfishing Your anxiety is really just the battle between the new man in Christ and the old man (the flesh); and when you weren't "living right" it physically plays itself out with anxiety and panic attacks. Understanding where it's coming from and what the actual battle is, is how you get on top of it. Don't get me wrong, anxiety and it's symptoms are real... demons.. Recognize them as such and go from there.
@notreelfishing
@notreelfishing 3 ай бұрын
@FrogDad556 gotcha definitely makes more sense and I totally agree when it come to the anxiety but the panic attacks are a Lil different because they aren't brought on by thought it's my body literally engaging flight or response for no reason withered it be chemical or demonic it still happens but it's much easier to deal and try to get through those symptoms when you know God oa watching out for you and I've been a chriatian for a very long time bit I'm just now coming back into my faith as I backslid quite awhile ago and I'm refocusing my life with Christ back in the center.
@notreelfishing
@notreelfishing 3 ай бұрын
@FrogDad556 also another thing that worries me at time is that maybe this anxiety and panic attacks are God's way of trying to bring some health issue that I'm unaware of to my attention and there no real way I can verify that or not seeing as how I can't really afford a bunch of medical tests so I have to take it on faith that it's just anxiety and panic attacks and not something more nefarious at play and that also feeds into the cycle of anxiety

Maybe you can make the guides on the rod open up and close like a carabiner, then you can cast as many lines as you want, with just one rod. Could be handy for surf fishing
@notreelfishing
@notreelfishing 5 ай бұрын
Yeah I've thought about that but I gotta figure out how to do it because in my head I just picture like a long binder spine or something because I'd like to find a way to combine the rang of casting with a rod but also pair it with a handline to get the advantages of both but this vids quite a bit older now and I still havnt figured out a way to do it yet lol
@clee5653

@@notreelfishingI guess one way to do it with just a normal rod is to have your main line a bit shorter and connect it to backing with a loop-to-loop knot or a snap, making your mainline detachable. The downside is obvious: shorter mainline and a bit more line management. I want to try that, but I haven't had the time yet.

New subscriber from Huntersville, NC here, are you in the Charlotte area? I do a lot of ultralight panfishing mostly fishing in neighborhood ponds, I have 2 ponds in my development that have some nice size bluegills and shell crackers, also a bunch of dink bass (a few big bass in these ponds as well, you'll catch 100 dinks before catching 1 big one) but all fun to catch on the ultralight set-up. Those small top water poppers would work great in my home ponds, especially when the bluegill are spawning, I might have to get some and give them a try.

Hey man. I’m the same EXACT way. In the last 2 years my anxiety has gotten terrible. Leaving the house or even going to work. You just feel like you’re stuck and can’t get anything accomplished I don’t know the key to it. But all I can say is you’re not alone in this mental battle. I don’t take medicine either. I refuse to. I’ve turned to god in these moments. And begin to pray when these thoughts and feelings come on. And it’s helped a lot. I’m 22 so I don’t think age has anything to do with it. Just keep it up man and keep battling

It’s ruined my relationships. My girlfriend of 8 years recently left me because of how bad it’s gotten recently. I’ve noticed keeping the mind busy helps. You’re the first person that I have EVER talk about the exact stuff going on. And being real and raw about it.

Yeah it's crazy how just one mental hiccup can have such profound effects in life but like all things including hiccups they pass and yeah they might come back again but after awhile you kinda know what to expect and how to deal with is unfortunately I think it's one of those things that take time to get straightened out and I agree with you keeping the mind busy is a huge part of it. One of the many reasons why I love gaming it just allows me to blank out everything but unfortunately it also makes me not do anything else but when I'm fishing and actually catching fish it's kind of the same thing. Also sorry to hear about your ex my ex broke up with me almost 2 years ago now and we were together 11 years so I can relate to the feeling. But I was blessed to find my current girlfriend as she's very understanding and supportive of me and my issues I think finding a support system is also a big plus if it's available and yeah if you ever need to to talk feel free to message me of here or Instagram.
