The fiddle tune at the end has many names but is usually called Malcom Finlay (sometimes spelled "Malcom Findlay") for those who were wondering. John MacDonald used to play it in Cape Breton so it is a well known tune up there.

This tribute to Bruce Cockburn was in the 2000’s. In the time since, Raylene Rankin died of breast cancer, and John Morris Rankin (piano) died in a car accident. They wrote great songs, sang beautiful Gaelic songs as well, and performed around the world. Cape Breton’s finest export. ❤️🇨🇦✌️

Whenever I come across music from the Rankins (in any configuration of their family bands) I can't stop listening. What a talented family of musicians and performers.

They were real troopers. Despite all of the feedback and squeals from the sound system they just kept on singing perfectly.

Mary (spelt in English was her legal name) was alive until quite recently as well Mary C. MacNiven, is even a video here on youtube of her. Was originally in Gaidhlig Mairi Bhan meaning Fair haired or Blonde Mairi, when she won the gold medal at the National Mod in 1934 to commemorate it essentially. Was later translated into English and changed quite a lot to what this is. Was the original song in Gaidhlig kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZeyo3eZjr6SiLc and kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpnGlmxvrsSUlaM

Here you go dear Christ's Lullaby (Our Saviour's Lullaby) You are my love, my love and my darling, you are my treasure and my joy, you are my beautiful graceful little son. I am not worthy to be near you. Alleluia,Alleluia Alleluia,Alleluia My love the eye that gazes kindly, my love the heart that is filled with love, although you are a baby with nothing at all there are many strengths growing in you. Alleluia,Alleluia Alleluia,Alleluia Although you are a helpless baby you are certainly the King of kings. You are the true, rightful heir to the Kingdom of Gracious God. Alleluia,Alleluia Alleluia,Alleluia And in the Gael Tàladh Chriosda (Tàladh an slànuighear) Mo ghaol, mo ghràdh is m'eudail thu, m'iunntas ùr is m'éibhneas thu. mo mhacan àluinn, ceutach thu Chan fhiù mi fhèin bhi 'd dhàil Alleluia,Alleluia Alleluia,Alleluia Mo ghaol an t-sùil a sheallas tlàth, mo ghaol an cridh 'tha lìont' le gràdh, ged is leanabh thu gun chàil is lìonmhor buaidh tha ort a' fàs Alleluia,Alleluia Alleluia,Alleluia Ged is leanabh dìblidh thu cinnteach 's Rìgh nan rìghrean thu. 'S tu 'n t-oighre dligheach fìrinneach air rìoghachd Dhé nan gràs. Alleluia,Alleluia Alleluia,Alleluia I don't own these lyrics I must credit michealt, thanks to him for doing this. James
