I have one totally strange one to add that worked out. Buy old clip earrings. Glue the earring front onto the front of the notebook by the edge. Now when you want to close it you close the book and you just clip the earring over the back

Really interesting! I got a little lost on how to get the different papers all glued down so neatly, esp where they butt up against each other though. Could you clarify what you meant by "trim off the excess"? Thanks!

I don't remember gluing the pages, I believe they were stitched into the cover. I think I'll need to rewatch the video before I can answer your questions!

Sorry, I meant gluing the decorative paper down to the cover. You did it off camera before you put any pages in. Maybe it's in an earlier video I missed?

Ok, I just rewatched the beginning and I cut the paper slightly larger than the surface that I covered so I wouldn't have the stress of having to glue it down perfectly. So once I glued a piece down, I needed to cut off the excess. Does that help?

@@TheArtfulAddict Yes! Very helpful, thank you. Did you trim it so you could wrap some of the excess around the sides of the cardboard to cover that? Seems like you must have or you'd see the cardboard around the edges.

It really just varies. The examples in the video are all different sizes. The top layer is generally a quarter in smaller but can be as small as the paperclip, if you want.

It's really up to you, just depends on how big you want it to be. Keep in mind, 5 pieces of paper equals 20 pages (front and back) in a signature.

Using one signature is fine. But when the spine is very wide, like on my journal, it helps to spread out the signatures evenly on the spine. Just one way to go. 🙂

Thank you for your kind message. Losing my daughter was brutally painful. It was actually quite a physical pain, as if someone had severed a piece of my body. Life keeps moving and I am trying to move along with it as best I can. Some days are more successful than others. I used to post multiple times a week but it's really hard now. People don't want to tune in to an art channel to hear gloom and doom, they want to be inspired. It's been harder to have days where my energy and spirits are high enough to be enthusiastic on video. I am trying, though. Everyone's journey through life is different. The past few years has yielded a lot of loss for me. But, I get up every morning hoping for a better day. Receiving kind messages from people like you is a big help. So thank you! 🥰

Aww you’re welcome! I’ve had some rough times too, & some people just don’t understand what grief is like & how it ebbs & flows through one’s days & life. I don’t mind listening, if you need a friend! All 3 of my children are alcoholic & smoke a lot of weed. I worry that they’ll use harder stuff. But they’re wasting their lives. Days go by where they haven’t done a thing. We really have a problem in our country & we don’t seem to be able to help our children. It’s tough, I know. Gina, you’re a lovely person & a talented artist! Channeling that talent may be what will work for you. The minute I sit down at my craft desk, I immerse myself in my project & think of all the interesting, quirky, funny & talented women I have met through KZbin & I feel better! Another hidden paperclip?! Fantastic, just as well-presented as the first video I watched! And I see there’s at least one more paperclip video! Are you or have you been a teacher? You’re very good at patiently showing each step, with both your words & demonstration!! It’s a skill that has been perfected over many years! I really like the floral examples the best because I primarily make botanical junk journals, but all of yours are pleasing to the eye! Well I’m only 3 years too late!! But I will have to say, I haven’t seen anyone else do this!! Absolutely fabulous idea, I have boxes of washi tape, I fall for the Amazon collections of 10-12 matching washi tapes!! I’ll have very carefully planned bags! And I have a lot of napkins & tissue papers that I need to make some headway on…!! (I also have playing cards that I’ve never touched… but I’m not going down that rabbit hole right now!) Gina i am so so sorry for your loss. I just came upon your video as it came up on my feed and watched this heartfelt and very beautiful tribute to your beautiful baby girl. I cant imagine your deep pain. I was once married to a man i deeply fell in love with and had 3 beautiful children with him but he was addicted to heroin and we endured this nightmare for 16 years until i divorced him. I tried and i tried to help him but in the end i couldnt do it anymore. It was taking me away from my children, i was not present enough for them and decided to save them and myself by letting go of this marriage. The mental abuse was phenomenal and the invisible scars run deep. I am thankful to God that he protected us from him so many times in the past, he protected my children from contracting Hep C. I am so grateful to God! He finally cleaned up his act and i found a lovely guy and we married in 2013. My kids (29, 28 and 26) go visit him on Saturdays. It had to take a divorce for him to see the light. He regrets all he has done to us and is trying to make it up to our kids as much as possible. I pray for the peace that surpasses all understanding Gina. I pray the Lord will comfort you and take away your pain. Again im so sorry for your loss. May she rest in peace. God bless you Gina❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Hi, how long of piece paper do you need for both pieces please?

They can be any size. You can see in my examples that the size varies which makes it a great scrap buster. I've made very small ones and some quite large. I typically make the top layer smaller so you can see an edge from the bottom piece all around. Even that can vary depending on how much 'edge'' you prefer to leave. Just make sure the top piece is large enough to cover the paper clip and has enough paper to hold glue so that it stick to the bottom. Most of these are roughly @ 2 inches, so 5 to 5 1/2 inches for your bottom piece. Top piece would be at least 1/4 inch smaller.
