It’s honestly weird watching this movie now with all the crap about Armie Hammer. From talking about cannibalism to something about abuse, it’s just difficult (for me that is) to watch the this as I think he did an incredible job in this film. I don’t even know the full facts behind the cannibalism and abuse but it’s still weird.

I heard a story somewhere told by Mr Rydel about him calling John Wayne down for something and fearing that John Wayne would fire him or have him replaced as director and John Wayne instead apologized. I’m pretty sure that I’ve heard or read that story somewhere and I hope I’m not butchering it in this comment. I think Mr Rydel recounted that story in the bonus sections of one of my The Cowboys DVDs that I’ve worn out over the years. I think I heard in this clips that John Williams composed the music and guessing that was Johnny Williams aka Lost in Space theme composer. Wonderful script, wonderful acting beautiful score and just the best scenery and cinematography. I was interested to learn that the Wil Anderson ranch house was near Santa Fe but as a kid, I always wondered how Wil Anderson had any cattle on that barren piece of land around the cabin. Looked like slim pickins on grazing to me.

Hey there!! Thank you so much for this lovely interview. I’m now subscribed to the channel. I gave it a quick overview and all videos seem thrilling and interesting to watch! Also Kaya’s interview style is so candid and knowledgeable it’s a joy to watch. I don’t know how all edits go but if I may make a small suggestion in this case I’ve been jumping back and forth to Spotify to hear what you were talking about, but maybe I didn’t get all the references right? It’d be great to listen a bit of what you’re referencing whenever possible or maybe put a text around on the name of the track or something to go listen somewhere else. Hope this doesn’t come as a critic but as something good to enhance the experience in this already awesome videos. I’ll keep coming back. Thanks again!

Coming late to this video, but I want to pay tribute to Dan Jones's music for Shadow of the Vampire. Why that wasn't nominated for every award going has always completely shocked and puzzled me. It's miraculous, outstandingly mature for a (then) young and relatively inexperienced composer: astonishingly lyrical, confident in its grandeur. The film is a masterpiece in its own right, but the music is inherent to this: it's part of what *makes* it a masterpiece and is in no way "incidental". Yet no-one seems to comment on it, ever.

At least it didn't get to the point of being rejected like Gabriel Yared's far superior 'Troy' Score which was replaced by James Horner's.

“Back To The Future” has a great script but Alan’s music completes it emotionally and makes the movie The Biggest Adventure of All Time, The Greatest Love Story of All Time, and the Greatest Friendship of All Time. His music truly makes the movie epic.

I can watch the train scene A MILLION times. I've only watched the entire move once. Its a LONG boring movie....until the train scene. One thing I didn't like about the movie is the color...not just this movie but almost everything since the 2010s. WHat happened to technicolor. Go back and look at Ten Commandments, Ben Hur, Wizard of Oz, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory etc. The Colors Popped off the screen. Now everything seems to have a Olive green filte

I've always enjoyed the Lone Ranger, and it's a shame it didn't revive the western genre. It's more fun than people give it credit for, and it's not exactly an exact copy of the Pirates of the Carribean films. The ending train chase is probably my favourite train chase in cinema because it's so grand scale. Hans Zimmer knocked it out of the park too.

I saw this film in a cinema with "D-Box" seating, that had adjustable intensity for vibrations and movement--the only time I have done so. This movie, this theme, with those seats was beyond intense. You felt the galloping of the horses, the explosions, the rattle and clack of the trains across the tracks, and you felt the William Tell Overture in your very bones. It was an experience I'll not soon forget, even though 11 years have already passed.

4:15 I don’t think the score is mimicking anything. That’s actually how the original Finale of the William Tell Overture by Gioachino Rossini goes. It lengthened here not to mimic gunshots but rather because the score had to be made to fit the scene. To do so, part of it had to be extended, and that was the part that made the most sense. That’s it. Any resemblance to the gunfire would be coincidental since the composer wouldn’t have known in advance how the sound effects would sound.

That’s it. Any resemblance to the gunfire would be coincidental since the composer wouldn’t have known in advance how the sound effects would sound. Also, can you imagine how difficult scoring this must have been?! For most films the composer has the benefit of working from scratch, meaning that they can fully customize the score to fit the scene. But here, Zanelli couldn’t actually do that; he had to score the scene using a piece of music that wasn’t just pre-existing, but very well-established and VERY well known (“Finale” is EASILY as iconic as, if not more so than, the Lone Ranger), but DIDNT fit the sequence. So he had to re-tool “Finale” so that it DID fit the scene AND incorporated Zimmer’s themes, and he had to do it all in such a way that the result wouldn’t sound like a corruption of the original piece by Rossini. Small wonder Zanelli took two months to figure this piece out.

Slight nitpick: The caption on the circus photo says: “Eddie & Teddy on the road with Dad 1906”. Therefore, it was his DAD who worked in the circus, & likely taught both of his boys those skills.
