Thank you. You helped me fix my heater. Your insights pointed out the trouble spots on the heater for me that I was not aware of. I, however, used a gun cleaning spray and sprayed the hell out of that red button area to blow out any contaminates working it as I sprayed.. It worked. Don't use gun cleaner spray that has an oil additive to it.

What would be wrong with mine? If I’m pushing the red button and there’s no gas flow even though I’ve got a full tank and the gas valve is turned full on?

Loved the video!! I got a 2 burner Mr heater that lights and works for about 20-30 seconds then the screen starts poppin and banging , then it goes out and it flares up down at the coupler and never goes out completely at the coupler ...any idea what that's about? ..I think the thermocouplers are bad ...not sure tho .. great fix btw ..I like the way u think ..

Zip tie did the trick. The steel ball seemed to be freely moving, but even holding it in for 60 seconds it wouldn't stay lit.

NOPE! It doesn't burn as high as it does if you just wire the wires together. Well at least mine doesn't. I tried this and it didn't seem like it was at full potential. It's super easy to wire the wires together though. Well I guess if the thermocouple is bad then yes but 95% of the time with these it's that damn tip over sensor. my wires had clips on the ends that plugged into the tip over sensor. I just unclipped them cut a skinny piece of metal and joined them together. My clips were females, you could easily just put a male clip on one side and plug them together that way too but I found the little piece of metal was the easiest.

I’m not getting gas when I push in the button. I can push it 100 times and maybe get a puff of gas for a brief second then nothing. Any ideas?
@CPoddy2 жыл бұрын
In that case it’s the ball switch cutoff.
@motor41512 жыл бұрын
@@CPoddy I believe when you push in the safety shut off valve to light it is pushing the tip over cut off valve out the way until the thermocoupler heats up. Then when released it stays open.

If the fire goes out while the gas is engaged you got a big problem the propane gas will keep flowing un burnt. but if you are going to be monitoring it closely and in a jam its ok i guess

@dustinsiemers51163 жыл бұрын
For me the problem was the knock over sensor. I took that off(2 screws) and then took it apart(1 screw and some clips) . Put it back together and then it functioned normally. Not sure exactly what I did but I did not tighten the screws as much so I think that maybe there wasn't enough room for the ball to do its thing. It could have also been the spade terminal connections, disconnecting and then reconnecting may have improved the connection somehow. it seems like a fairly common microswitch inside so next step would be to replace that switch for a few bucks.

I’m sorry, but I have to rebuke this repair. This isn’t a repair, it’s an unsafe rig job. The thermocouple on this heater needs replaced. That’s the only way to properly repair this heater. The micro switch and ball are unlikely to fail. Simple test with an ohm meter will test it’s continuity. The thermocouple is subjected to high temps and is more likely the culprit. $9 part, easy fix.

Thermal coupler.flame sensors and ignitors. So many people toss heaters and furnaces due to these basic seasonal/occasional repairs. It's mind blowing considering you can KZbin anything
@SVMSICE Жыл бұрын
I disagree with your statement about the micro switch and ball unlikely to fail. I’ve dealt with 3 of these heaters now having an issue and all 3 of them was due to that safety ball shutoff feature. Huge fail from my experience with them. Just what I’ve seen!

Your solution is not to use the heater? Mine was brand new and doesn’t work
@BigD13953 жыл бұрын
Mine actually just had a bunch of dust on the top of the thermal regulator, and I believe the ball that sets on top of the tip over cut off switch was stuck.
