This video is really nice. So many great memories! 😍Nafplio is such a beautiful place and the school where the classes were held so special! Once again you succeed, dear Omilo teachers. You make us feel that it is worth taking this journey to learn with you. To learn the language and also the cultural and social aspects of Greece. In these courses we learn to communicate better with Greek people but also have the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. Well done! Thank you very much. 🤗

Is πάω considered as an A1 Verb?
@OmiloHellas
@OmiloHellas 8 күн бұрын
Γεια σου! Thank you very much for your comment. Verbs ending in -άω are in general considered B1 verbs. So, in the present tense, if you conjugate "πάω" like B1 verbs, everything is fine. πάω, πας, πάει, πάμε, πάτε, πάνε However, if we follow the grammar 100%, "πάω", together with "τρώω", "ακούω" and "λέω" (and some more verbs) belong to a special category of verbs. The stems of these verbs are πα-, τρώ-, -ακού-, λέ-. So the stem ends with a vowel. So, about your question, the difference between B1 verbs and πάω is that B1 verbs' stem ends with a consonant and -άω is part of the suffix (μιλ-άω, αγαπ-άω), while "α" in πάω is a part of the stem and not of the suffix (πά-ω). You understand better that it is not a regular verb, if you see the future and the past tense, which have nothing to do with the rules of the B1 verbs. For the present tense, just conjugate the verb as the B1 verbs, it will be easier to have it in mind in this way. :) Good luck with your Greek language journey!

Γεια σας! I *love* the Omilo Greek's videos of verbs; they're helpful because from them I create my flashcards and study every day through Anki. However, many of those videos only have the present tense; others, have the past tense but not the future tense; still others, have present and past but not future... and so it goes. Could you do new versions of the videos of verbs declensions, completing the tenses you have not teach? Ευχαριστώ =)

thank you for your feedback, and happy your like the videos. Indeed, all the videos are a bit different, because we usually give the tenses and the examples that are used the most with the verbs. Some verbs are not used a lot in the future, and others are not used a lot in the past, etc... Or some verbs are too dificult in the future/past... because our videos are mostly made for Beginners, so we use the most relevant things for Beginners. For your information, those videos are actually material that are made for our verb books, which you can purchase as grammar eBooks. Having those eBooks, you will get the correct grammar written down, conjugations, etc.. You can find them at ; masaresi.com/product/conjugate-greek-passive-verbs/ masaresi.com/product/learn-how-to-conjugate-greek-verbs-b-category/ masaresi.com/product/verb-ebook-category-a/ At the moment we have no time to make extra free videos, since we also need to live and therefor earn money :-) The busy season of our Greek langauge and culture courses started now, If you are interested to learn greek and also speak it, then the best way is to visit Greece, and learn Greek in Greece 🙂 omilo.com/ We wish you a lot of fun with your Greek Language Journey

This looks so beautiful but it would be much too hot for me in the summer. I love the island of Crete but in the spring and Autumn, I also want to try to go in the winter to the Greek islands. I know it is possible but it is more complicated.

Thank you. I am loving these videos, they are so clear and concise! I went for the first time to Crete, two years ago, March 2022. I fell instantly in love with the island. When I came home to Wales, I started to learn with Duo Lingo, which now I think was a mistake but it got me started. I went back to Crete in October 2022 after working hard on Duo Lingo for 6 months but I really knew how to say nothing useful. I could not even buy a bus ticket! In October 2023 I flew to Athens and I stayed in Piraeus. I had no confidence to speak, it was a big help to be able to ba able to read a little bit and it was a lot of fun trying.

Kalimera! thanks a lot for your feedback and happy they help you out. We have many students trying to learn with Duolingo, but the grammar is lacking. Unfortunately, you can never speak Greek without grammar, so yes, you will need to work on that too :) Many greetings from Athens, and keep up the good work.

Why don’t you try to make videos like these French ones. These French videos are a story. And they put the French subtitles only. At the end they repeat all this and give you the English. It's very well done. www.youtube.com/@ListenEF www.youtube.com/@TryFrench-ho3ie

Thank you for your suggestion, every channel does it differently. Concerning our stories, we get very good feedback so we will continue for the time being as we do. Of course, our videos are all companied by extra notebooks, with extra info, text in Greek and English, vocab list, grammar exercises, etc... So by purchasing this notebook, you will not only learn many more things, but also supporting this project of writing stories, recording, etc...which all take a lot of our time. More info about the notebooks, you can find here masaresi.com/product-category/greek-podcast-notebooks/ You can also try one for free, so you get a better idea of what you get. Take a look at omilo.com/for-free/easy-greek-stories-podcast-notebook/ Best regards from Athens, and wishing you good luck with your Greek learning

If you were to assign homework to your students, could a student say in reference to doing their homework, Το θα σκέφτομαι? Is that how the concept would be expressed in Greek?
@OmiloHellas
@OmiloHellas Ай бұрын
Γεια σου, Kevin. Thank you for your comment. We do not understand exactly what you would like to say, but here are two useful sentences; 1. Θα το σκεφτώ = I will think about it (so not sure if I will do the homework or not) 2. Για να κάνω την άσκηση, θα σκεφτώ πολύ. = I will think a lot to do the exercise (it takes/ it requires thought) We hope this helped. Καλή συνέχεια! All the best!

@@OmiloHellas Ευχαριστώ! I was thinking in the context of a student being what they call a smart aleck (what is the term for that in Greek?), so it seems option 1 goes along with it.
