the first song I sang with my recruiters when they had us do a cadence run around the Aurora mall out here in Colorado was the one in the beginning the looks on peoples faces out here when they seen and heard us coming on by is just priceless I love it to be honest my unit my squad hell even the recruiters carry me even though I'm like one of the best top performers out here its only cause of them why I keep pushing myself further everyone I'm with that's there to be a Marine wants me to go special forces but I wanna be chef more than anything even though I did a 9:30 3 lap sprint on the IST and 105 ammo can lifts 16 pull ups and a few other workouts that I'm killing it at I rather be a cook then go into special forces I love food too much I'll fight when we really need to when the time comes

I was in a JROTC in high school, and we shared a base with a platoon of Marines. (6th Motor Transport BTN, if anyone's around). We did this cadence all the time when they were around

I was in a program called “Marine Cadets of America”. Co. A, 1st Battalion. Based in New Haven, CT. It’s a non profit youth organization meant to give inner city kids a ray of hope. The DI’s are Marines that decided to volunteer and dedicate their time to help us kids understand the fundamentals of the Marine Corps, build camaraderie amongst fellow cadets and shape us into well behaved, educated beings. We went on a week long trip called an “ATD” to Camp Fogarty in RI. My most fond memory of that ATD was one of many jogs through the forest. Gunnery Sergeant Allison (USMC) was leading the platoon singing cadence. This is the cadence he chose. I can’t speak for the other individuals in the platoon but I felt like I could run another 100 miles with that cadence. It was the most motivational experience i’ve ever had in my life. Semper Fi to all US Marines. Thank you for your service.

Recently became a marine and this is one of my favorite cadences. I remember we were hiking back, I got blisters and my feet hurts like hell, but then I hear our SDI singing cadences, seeing recruits doing whatever they had to do, I heard the bells ringing and my body shot up, the pain was still there but not as bad, and we sang the cadence top of our lung. I cried while singing and the pride I felt had overhwlemed me. I already miss that god forsaken island

This is wrong. "Around her hair she wore a yellow ribbon, she wore it in the springtime and in the month of May. And if you asked her why the hell she wore it, she wore it for her young Marine so far, far away." "Around the block she pushed a baby carriage, she pushed it in the springtime and in the month of May. And if you asked her why the hell she pushed it, she pushed for her young Marine so far, far away." "In her hand she holds a telegram, she held it in the springtime and in the month of May. And if you asked her why the hell she held it, she held it for her young Marine so dead and blown away."
