As you saw in first example the one side is six and other is 4 , diode allows forward current, it's not like current flow from 4 to 6 , so it's forward bias.. It's not like current starts flowing in opposite manner .

Total distance covered is 4 + x, as in first part after distance used is four and then remaing is x so x is to be used for the second part. May be other people have some used some other steps to solve

Cells combination hai parallel me and hame cells ka equivalent emf find krna hai and vhi Vo hai. Because circuit ground se bhi connected hai and ground ka potential zero hta hai. So Vo -o is Vo so hme equivleant emf nikalna hai and vo Vo hga
