He did it for the plenum spacer sometimes the plenum goes too high and it results in clearance issues for the hood. That’s why he he swapped the hood for more room

Yes, Chevy rates the LS3 corvettes at 430hp BUT when it comes to the MANUAL Grandsports they have a slightly different LS3 than any of the other corvettes. The manual transmission GrandSports are the ONLY corvettes to come with a factory single mechanic HAND-BUILT Ls3. The hand built Ls3’s are also the only Ls3’s that come factory equipped with a dry sump oil system (twice as much oil as a regular system), and a slightly longer forged crankshaft. These handbuilt Ls3’s are made at GM Performance Build Center in Wixom MI. One builder does the complete engine from start to finish. While all other “regular”Ls3’s are at built at the St. Catharines engine plant in Ontario, Canada. Having the dry sump oil system (my car) allows for less oil windage on the crankshaft as the oil is contained in a separate system, this basically means that the crankshaft isn’t having to rotate through a thick pool of oil, meaning that there is naturally less “drivetrain loss” allowing for a closer crank HP to WHP ratio. These dry sump equipped LS3’s also run at much lower oil temps, providing much cooler engine operation even under spirited driving, and it is known that heat kills horsepower. Lastly, many people to the Tulsa area consider Legendary Motorsports dyno to read slightly lower than the average DynoJet Dyno. As it is know that dyno keys aren’t typically “heartbreaker” dyno’s, this particular is said by many to be one of the most accurate dyno’s in the Tulsa Area. And seeing as my tuned automatic 350z with full bolt on’s, stage 3 cams, and e85 only made 277whp on this dyno, that shows me that this dyno certainly doesn’t read high as it’s normal for other automatic Z’s equipped with similar mods to make 275-290whp on other dyno’s. Also, according to the employee’s at this shop (Legendary Motorsports) say that they usually see “regular” non dry sump “base model” Ls3 Corvettes make in the mid to upper 380whp range. The same night I ran my C6 on their dyno, there was also a pair of stock C7 stingrays on their dyno that pulled 405whp and 411whp which are very normal numbers for stock LT1, and I have ran side by side with a stock c7 stingray from a 40 roll. Also I’ve ran a base model Ls3 corvette from a 40 and 60 roll and I pulled half a car and a car on it despite my GS being about 100lbs heavier. You do know that manufacturers listed HP isn’t always accurate right? For example the 2020 Toyota Supra is listed to have 335hp but it typically makes very close to that number to the wheels on a dyno. There’s is a thought that Chevy did this similarly as a Grandsport being listed as say 440-450 hp would possibly cause a dip in Z06 sales as it would show a Grandsport at a cheaper price providing very competitive performance for the Z06. (A manual Grandsport is basically just a Ls3 z06, same brakes and dry sump oil system and suspension ect.)

Hey! I love your videos! Your Z is awesome!!! I have recently dyno’d on a dynojet my Z and with all those mods it only made 276whp @7200rpm and what concerns me is it only made 225 peak torque. Something has to be off because before my cams and headers and ported lower intake and kinetix manifold I made 255whp and 235tq. What could be causing me to lose 10ft lbs of torque after these mods? Surely I should be making significantly more torque? I saw a video of an Automatic G35 making 285whp and 261tq with the same cams and the same mods with the acception of it had Ppe long tube headers. Do you know what could be causing me to make such low torque? Could there be an issue somewhere? I’m really stumped and very disappointed with how this expensive build turned out so far. :(

@@topkek7003 that’s what I’m thinking, but I’m really not sure because I’m tuned by Martin from RS Enthalpy, and he is pretty known. After email tuning I took my to a local dyno and after seeing the numbers, I reached back out to martin expressing my disappointment and he suggested that I rent out that dyno for a few hours so he could try to “dial in the tune even more” and see dyno stats after each adjustment. And after two hours of dialing in the tune with revisions we only gained 4 peak hp and no extra torque. He said he thinks that’s all we where gonna be able to get out of it. So if we “dialed it in” like that, I’d hope the tune would be good, but I really don’t know. Other than the lack of power, the car runs pretty good/smooth at least. I really wish I knew what could be causing this, it’s such a headache. One person suggested that maybe my variable valve timing isn’t working properly or maybe my tuner didn’t tune my variable valve timing. But again, i have no idea :(

@@taylorfreudenthaler4409 whens the last time you changed your fuel filter? have you upgraded the fuel pump? theres a lot of things that could be contributing to your lack of torque. my stock de makes more torque than that

@@topkek7003 Fuel filter and fuel pump are brand new, as well as injectors, walbro 155, and Bosch 630cc… :/

Yes n/a, and it had a few problems dying when I came to a stop, but I told my tuner and he dialed in the tune and now it’s perfectly fine and normal when stopped

@@taylorfreudenthaler4409 I have those idle issues to when its warm and I start it , when I pull up to red lights or stop signs, it will drop to 200rpm and rebound back to 680 700.

Yes. The car was in a collision and the factory DE hood was damaged, and I bought the white HR hood from a friend because it was cheap and available

Not at all! Before this exhaust I had a crappy eBay hks replica and it was much louder and sounded awful. This exhaust is very well balanced with tone and noise when paired with test pipes and ypipe. Although now I have headers as well as big cams, and I will say that now it is a little too loud for my taste, probably comparable to a tomei once you are full exhaust with headers.

On this exhaust the tips don’t point straight back, they point slightly out at diverging angle. And also any non intentional unevenness could be due to the fact this vehicle was in a minor rear end collision before I got it, and maybe a exhaust hanger was slightly tweaked. But personally the fitment of this exhaust I have found to be very good compared to other exhausts in the medium price range, and any unevenness this has is very minimal and not very noticeable in person, as no one has ever noticed or pointed it out as of yet in person.

It’s very typical for 350z’s to lose to 3v’s 90% of the time, but at the same time, my Z has never actually lost to a 3v, I’ve raced others that where stock and some that where b/o, and even when I was mostly stock the Z would still pull top end. My z has always been faster than other 350z’s with the same mods, I’ve never lost to another n/a 350z so maybe my z is a bit of a factory freak or maybe my tune is just a little better than normal. Or maybe I’ve just been lucky. And trust me, I know what those 3v’s can do and I love em, I still to this day always go into a race vs a 3v with the thought that I’m probably gonna lose even tho I haven’t YET lol

It really was!!! Right as the video cuts out the CRX topped out and if you listen closely you can hear the Z’s engine start to choke in and out for a second, and right after that clip, the throttle position sensor on the z went bad and had to drive the car home in limp mode😂

A stock scat would’ve gapped both of them lol
