You didn't close the drain cock when refilling the system!

Other 'radiator removal' videos have suggested shutting off the heating and water system. This video doesn't mention anything about it? Is that something I should be doing prior to removing the radiator?

Can anyone help me. I've got a Stannah 600 (siena) stairlift. It will go all the way up and down the straight stairs with no load but under load it does one step at at time beeping constantly. The error code says code 1 which means the batteries are knackered. Stannah UK want (are you ready for a shock....) ..... TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTY POUNDS just to come and look at it. I told the guy on the phone that I wasn't in a position to just throw 260 quid away on a whim and he basically told me tough shit pay it or don't go upstairs any more.!!! I would also like to know where I get the batteries from as a search online didn't really come up with any exact matches, and I don't know what ampage I need etc etc etc, and i cant check as i don't know how to get it apart.

What a joy to find some practical help for handy electronicians. As a hobbyist and electronic fan, I had opened the electronic controlbox and was suspecting the contacts of the relays. Having opened these, they looked like new. But then why did the boiler start just with a little knock on the box? Couldn't find the schematics. Your advice was perfect. Indeed, a check with a capacimeter, of the capacitors showed that one of the 22 uF measured only 1.5 uF. In my drawers I didn't have 63V capacitors, so I put 2 with a 35V isolation in series, but, of course with the double capacity. It all works fine now. I'm very greatful for this help. Good luck. Mike

A very concise guide for this operation. I found this video the most instructive I could find as I wish to drain down my central heating to replace a TRV. Thank you.

Like the video. A lot of times people replace whole valve system meaning higher cost in parts and time. However I would not put this WC back in service without cleaning limescale from ball float and making sure it does not stick against overflow and/or siphon. It is sticking in raised position at 0.27 and with more limescale eventually could get stuck in lowered "open valve"position. A wipe down with water repellent and anti limescale agent in cistern would be a good measure.

I seem to be having an issue where the ballcock screw is not pushing the valve hard enough in to stop the flow of water so it trickles. Or at least that's what I reckon it is.

Thanks great vid, just what I needed. I wasn't sure the TRV would fit into the same space as The old type valve, but now I see how it's done. Just one question please ? can I use the old nut on the feed pipe or do I have to remove the old one and it's olive ? cheers.... Chris.

If you do this and then your boiler makes bad noises, try bleading the boiler; specifically the circulating pump.

You are a money saver! Have the Potterton Profile 60eL, and was retrying to start forever and not firing up. Called insurance company who promptly washed their hands off. The quote I got for fixing was £430. Followed your video and replaced the 3 caps mentioned. Bingo! Boiler fires up first time without a struggle. Total cost including a trip to maplin £10. Many thanks indeed for your timely help. Much appreciated!
