Now this is a extremely interesting & rare move. What your seeing here is US Navy equipment formerly from Amphibious Construction Battalion 2 (ACB-2), (Which was being deactivated at the time) equipment is being shipped to ACB 1, a battalion based in San Diego, CA. ACB-1 is now the only such unit in the US Navy.

She's basically the only loco they had on hand to work that train. The SW1500 couldn't do it, nor could any of the smaller steam engines. We like to think this was staged for our benefit, but this was operational practicalities managing things, not railfan needs. The Railroad needed to move a train, only one loco on the roster could do it and that led to these scenes.

I wish I was able to ride on Thomas at this event.

The railroad appears to be hauling its own supplies of coal here. Nice to see!

You can always count on Crown Metal Products for good steam locomotives. Too bad they fell out of favor, but thankfully, many of their locomotives continue to operate. Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Six Flags St. Louis are the only places I know of where Crown cabooses are used. Would be cool to see an additional coach or two one day to match the other two trains.

*I talked to the owner he said* *1663 currently has a Southern Pacific K5H but I switch it with a Rock Island P5 and for special occasions the Hancock air whistle* *It was built Oct 1952. It has a Rebuilt with a Cummins 855NL in 1989*

Any idea what the new equipment is on the fireman's side of the cab and behind the tender on the locomotives? I know they were added after your videos were shot but thought you might know why. I know the Balmoral Castle caught fire in 2018 due to a propane leak, so the box on the cab with conduit leading to it has to be a safety device of some kind. There's also a big black box behind the tender and a walking platform with tall hand rail above the propane tanks. Also, if you look at recent clips of Balmoral Castle you'll notice it has a fresh coat of paint but is missing the light blue striping on the engine and tender except for around the boiler.
