Pretty sure it’s TEMU that’s the culprit. Amazon may use the same product name, but I haven’t seen them dupe anything.

I buy the dies from these companies as why pay $25-$30 when you can pay $2. I notice the companies that produce in the US, you can't find their stamps on those website, maybe they should pay US. workers and then Stampin Up could justify the price, but when you're paying someone $1.00 an hour you can't justify the price Stampin Up is asking. Sorry.

I think we all know this about these overseas companies. But Stampin’ Up is - bottom line - too expensive. Whether this is the flow on effect from a demonstrator’s percentage sales of the people they then bring onboard …. or the cruises that are awarded those whose sales are huge I don’t know.

I have bought a few not very many stamp and die set from the cheap place. I have never bought any stampin up sets at the cheap places. I have found I have trouble getting the cheap stamps to have a good stamp. I also find you have to put a lot more pressure on the cheap stamps. I have arthritis and it hurts my hands using the cheaper stamps. So I find I do not use them as much the only way I can get a good clean stamp is to use my Stamparatus so I can stamp more than once. I may have to put shims of card stock to make the entire stamp easier to stamp. It’s just a personal preference but I liked the stamparatus design much better than the Misti. I have both. The hinges are so much better for not having the wiggle room of the Misti. You can not count on a clean re- stamp of the Misti. I like the way you have 2 plates on the stamparatus to set your stamps up on. I like being able to move the plates down the hinge stamping. There is 2 open sides to put larger paper in. Well thought out design from Stampin up. I am so sorry they can not make anymore. If something happens to my stamparatus. Yes eBay is selling the stamparatus for high prices. When I compare the price of a new Misti at the price of $70 I found on eBay today the stamparatus is $100-$150 I would put out the extra money to get what I was happy with and not settle for the other Just my personal preference. I would look around first before buying. The stamparatus gives me so much more choices than the Misti. On the cheap dies I normally shim it for a good cut. The thin does seem to bend easier than stampin ups. But I have not had one not cut. I don’t know if you know this or not. I signed up to stampin up to become a hobby demonstrater. I get a certain percentage off with each order I put in. That does bring the price down some. I do not sale anything as I do not have the health. I do it for the discount. I always need supplies. I go through a lot as I make a lot of card to donate. I am terrible with colors and this is another reason I came to stampin up. They make it easy to put your colors together. Thank you so much for going over the counterfeit stamp and dies. You are certainly correct that eBay charges 2/3 more for some things and I notice they really jack prices when things are retired. I did not know about the Facebook groups so I will go check them out. Thank you.

While I will never condone counterfeiting any products, many of the commenters below make very good points regarding the prices of 'name brand' stamps and dies. Though I haven't bought from Stampin' Up in years, the last set of dies and stamps I purchased were probably $50.00. Obviously a design I became obsessed with having! That's insane for the 'ordinary' crafter. Products marketed by Tim Holtz, Altenew, Sizzix and Spellbinders, to just name a few, are also ridiculously priced. I expect there are craft addicts who almost bankrupt themselves buying all the new Stampin' Up or Tim Holtz offerings each time new items are released. I have no inside information as to how much it costs to manufacture a stamp set, but I expect it;s pennies on the dollar for what is charged. Having said all this, I do buy cheap dies (I'm not much of a stamper) from Amazon, Temu, and Ali Express. Many items are pretty generic (tag dies, for example) and I don't think any one company can copyright those designs. The dies that cut only a stamped design are different - but I don't really have interest in those items, so I don't buy them. I would venture to guess the owners of Stampin' Up, Simon Says Stamp, Altenew, and every other company of this type, have become millionaires. And this is a capitalistic country, so they're entitled to do this. But it's a little unfair to blame consumers for looking for lower prices. I don't receive Stampin' Up catalogs, so I don't know what their offerings are. If I buy an unbranded die set from Amazon with 5 flowers on it, I don't know if it's a copy of something Stampin' Up has done or not. And flower petals are a pretty generic shape, anyway. The related products necessary for paper crafting (cardstock, glue, envelopes, etc) have also skyrocketed in price, and the craft stores seldom have good sales (Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc.) as they did before the pandemic, so to make a handmade card now is no longer an economical craft. So there are two sides to every story, though copyright violations are not acceptable.

Interesting. That stamp set looked famililar as I have been spending the last couple days getting all my dies in some sort of order. I found all the stamps (clear ones) and they are exactly like what you showed. The actylic sheet that the ones I didn't use still sticking well to the acrylice, but the used stamps are loose. I don't have any matching dies. When I went to Amazon, none of the listings indicated that I had bought it on Amazon. I kept looking and finally figured out that I had purchased the stamps in Nov. 2023 for $13.99. That particular listing is now closed. There was no indication that this was a Stampin Up set as if we don't use your products we wouldn't recognize a black rectangle at the top of the packaging in the picture and it wasn't on the package I got. My set was supposed to come with dies but it didn't. I would never intentionally buy a counterfeit product, but I have been watching a lot of KZbins lately, some of which are StampinUp dealers and the first time one of them mentioned the price of a set of stamps, I almost chocked. Definitely out of my league financially I think the one she was showing didn't have many stamps but cost $30.

Over the years I have sold stamps for various companies and with every one of them my commission was 50% not 20% like SU. Stampin' Up does have the advantage of having so many coordinating products. (When I sold for Lasting Impressions brass stencils etc. their products all coordinated too and my commission was 50%.) I started making cards because I thought it would be cheaper than buying Hallmark. I was wrong! In order to bring the cost down per card, I did start buying knock-off stamps and dies. Many sets only get used a few times which defeats the purpose of trying to save money. Most of the knock-off sets I have purchased are about 10% of what SU sells them for. And BTW, I'm in my upper 70's. I'm sorry the lady you referred to was confused but I know exactly what I'm doing. I do still purchase inks, markers, blenders, paper etc from Stampin' Up!

You know, personally as just an everyday consumer of crafting products, it’s too much for me to keep up with whether a product is counterfeit or not. It is up to stamping up to do it. There is too much going on in most of our lives out here to worry about this. I don’t purposely order something where an artists work has been stolen. But the stamp and die sets from various legit companies can all look very similar. ESP when it comes to florals. So it’s up to stampin up corporate to keep a watch I do admit I look for bargains. I buy a lot of used products, I shop Amazon and the places you mentioned. Because I am a senior on limited income. And if I want to craft, and I have a certain budget. That’s what I have to do. I will never say I will only shop on stampin up, or whomever.

I bought one set of bootleg stamps from Temu; a leaf pattern. Though it looks the same, the dies barely cut and the polymer stamp set is actually a bit smaller than the Stampin' Up version. I didn't think anything of it at the time I bought it, but since learned the difference. Fair warning to all; counterfeit is not the same as the real thing. It's like sugar vs saccharine; the fake leaves a bad aftertaste in your mouth.

I was very curious about these counterfeit sets of Stampin’ Up, so I bought quite a few of the stamp sets with the matching dies from Amazon. A couple of the stamp sets were good but the majority of them just would not nearly stamp as well as the real deal from Stampin’ Up! I had to throw most of the counterfeit stamps away because the quality of the stamps were so bad. However, all of the matching dies that I purchased with the stamp sets on Amazon, they were spot on 100% great. So I went in and left a comment on how the Stamps were a knock off from SU! And Amazon sent me an email saying they were not going to post my review because they investigated my claim and found it to be untrue. That is 100% wrong. Why in the world would Amazon lie like that? There’s no way they could have done any kind of investigation because the stamps I had bought were exactly 100% the same images of the Stampin’ Up! stamps and dies. so I know many people who are buying the stamps and the matching dies on Amazon because you have to buy them as set, but even if the stamps are such a low quality, you’re still getting a deal for what you’re paying if you’re only able to keep the dies with the set. So I know that ladies are going to stampin’ up and just buying the stamps and buying the dies on Amazon. And they’re saving quite a bit of money. I think that is what this is all about. Crafters just want to save some money right now.

We are not mass producing the designs. We just want to decorate a page with a design on it and not have SU at every page or so. Too many rules and overpriced anyway. I now go and buy other stamps sets that doesn't give me rules.

I only buy SU paper and love their paper. I used to buy the red rubber stamps but over the years there have been too many issues getting stamps to stay on the blocks without tape or something to make stamps stick to block. Pain. Dont like the clear stamps produced by SU. I like crisp, clear and detailed stamps. And finally, the cost got ridiculous for products. So, I still buy colored cardstock but thats about it. There are so many other stamp companies that are more reasonable. I believe SU will eventually go the way of Close to My Heart.

If this issue is causing the company to spend all that money trying to stop this, they need to just stop and et it go. They are wasting their and our money. It won't stop. Nobody is buying them that would otherwise buy SU. Those are being sold for $1-3 a set. Those customers are not interested in spending $15-27 a set. SU is not losing anything. If anything, they cause people to be MORE interested in SU. That's what happened to me. I discovered the copies before I discovered SU. I was not interested in being spendy with stamps at the time when I started. Those prices including shipping were very attractive. It allowed me to get "my feet wet" without the huge investment. I quickly learned that they are CRAP. The basic outline ones are ok, but they are very difficult to work with. It's hard to get a clean crisp image with them. They are silicone stamps. When I started, there was very little info about silicone vs photopolymer and in pics they look the same. Then I had a beautiful stamp in my hand, at least it should have beautiful. It wasn't. It was a distinctive copy. It was crap. It literally stamped a big blob and it should have stamped a beautiful flower with a lot of details. That caused me to switch to SU and get the real ones. Now I have hundreds of authentic SU sets. I know my experience is similiar to others.

This has been a topic of conversation and debate for years now. It's not ever going to change -- ever. As time goes by, the minority that has money to burn will pay the increasingly high prices. The rest will go with the lower priced and lower quality product because the economy will not be offering them the luxury of money to burn. I personally do not feel any guilt turning my back on a $50-$70 stamp/die set, and purchasing something similar for much less.

It's not just Stampin' Up. China does not have the trademark infringement rights that the US has. By making supplies in China for a supremely lower price and then selling it for an above premium price SU has done this to themselves as have a lot of companies that get involved in the Limited Edition craze. I stopped buying SU stamps nearly a decade ago because to me it wasn't worth the money to pay "$50 for a stamp set I use for one project. I started buying on the secondary market for all SU supplies that wasn't ink or paper and told my demonstrator why. I also showed her where I bought a 20 gallon container of nothing but SU paper for $10 at a yard sale - it was a retail of over $1000 of product that the previous SU seller had been trying for years to get rid of. SU needs to innovate like Tim Holtz and show ways of using their products for more than just greeting cards - no one in my entire family even buys cards anymore from anywhere other than the Dollar Tree.

Stampin up is a bully company. I don’t hear that demonstrators are treated well but quite the opposite. Prices are jacked up to where the average person cannot afford them. Stamping and card making should be a hobby available to all, not just for people willing to pay exorbitant prices. Stampin Up does sell photopolymer stamps not just red rubber. SU robs the elderly as well as the average person. If a person is paid minimum wage, they 😢cannot pay your prices. So it is your stance that rather than buy supplies where they can afford they should not have stamping and card making as a hobby?

They steal the picture and try to imitate the product with subpar materials and you won’t get the same results. I am 22 years old and I understand why people may think it’s a good deal. But between the forced labor and underpayment in China (ethical concern), and receiving a poor quality product… I’ll stick to buying the real product from my lady. I know counterfeit is absolutely horrible I do need to point out how ridiculously inflated craft products are. The reason we can find the products for 95% less is because they inflate the cost after production that high. An 80 year old woman is getting ripped off spending $50 on a craft product that is only .50 to make. You are part of a pyramid. Those above you make tons of money off from you overcharging 80 year olds for a craft item. We take nothing with us when we die. Let that 80 year old pay the actual value for an item. Also the same factories make those products… just different packaging. It all works the same.
