4:13 “By parental force”, or in more precise words, “by parental coercion” or “under parental duress”. I had lived the JW lifestyle by parental coercion. In other words, “They live, often by parental coercion, according to the precepts of Jehovah’s Witnesses.”

Christianity used to be a lot more strict than it is now. But, at some point in the 3rd century, the Christians decided to do away with the dietary laws and other restrictions to make more people want to convert. If the Jehovah’s Witnesses want more converts, then they need to do away with some of these restrictions.

Good video, but the comment of over-population of the earth 19:31 had me lol-ing. God said to fill the earth not to overfill the earth, you spoke as if God can't do math and didn't have a plan for that at the start, or that you have never read the bible verses where God caused women not bear children. How do you know the genetic code doesn't contain an eventual off switch for reproduction either? Some things must be impossible for the God you believed in once.

In the original language of the bible the word was uncleanness not adultery, uncleanness could be multiple violations of the law or marriage arrangement. and the looking at a woman lustfully the word could have been translated wife, not woman.

I do have to ask though, I know Sophia is slowly getting her into the cult with her giving her the book to make her feel better after losing her grandma (with being able to see the relationship between her and her grandma in the newest episode) but for people like Zoe if her grandma (or other family members and friends) didn't believe in Jehovah then how could she see her grandma again does Jehovah just make her appear or does she just no longer exist since she didn't exist? Honestly I'm just confused on how the JWs get them to believe with the promise of seeing their loved ones again if the said passed ones didn't believe in their religion.

Once worked with a JW in nursing. She refused to do blood tranfusion She comes into this profession with her BS. Get outta here with that nonsense...😡 on top of that throughout the shift she just annoys the heck out of me. I get called away to fix a tv..!! Yep it wasnt to fix a problem with a patient she called me to fix a tv just cause it had no signal..That isnt our job description..😡🤬😤There was so much other shit she did. That i realised what people say about JW there are some things that are off about them.... 🤦♀️🤷♀️

I worked with a JW and she seemed bit off to me. She was just fluffing around wasting a lot of we were both nurses and on this shift we had to do a blood transfusion she straight up refused and I wanted to say to her why are you a nurse of you don't want to do blood transfusion. Smh🤦♀️🙄🤔... Not being mean but there is something so off about these people.

Their no communion except for the 144,000 is absolutely ridiculous. JWs are replacement theologists. The 144,000 are virgin male Jews from the 12 tribes of Israel who won't start their work until the beginning of the great tribulation. More Scripture twisting.

Satan's psychology experiment. Let normal, decent, human beings study the Bible more feverently than MOST Christians, but don't have them MISS the Diety of Christ! What a nasty, dirty trick that sends people into enternal damnation, which they claim does not exist! That is Spiritual Deception, one of the best examples in history, actually. Nobody in history had ever fulfilled 2nd Timothy 4:3-4, about the itchy-eared gathering false teachers, it is the Watchtower.

My abusive JW ex husband told me to have an affair. “If you ever want sex, love, or affection again, you need to go get a boyfriend because it’s not gonna come from me. And I’ll understand if you decide you need a boyfriend.” Me: *Hires a divorce attorney instead* and still somehow I’m the bad guy and my family doesn’t speak to me.

Also I hate how they don't bring up the obvious. "Who would know?" She would. And given the kind of kid that Sophia is, that kind of guilt would be really upsetting. "I didn't earn that. I didn't work for that. I didn't actually do MY work. All of that was someone else's work and I lied to get there."

Had one known JW friend in school. When she moved away there was a huge fallout, evidently because she'd said something about how some of the girls weren't like...really her friends? I wasn't affected by it, she hadn't lumped me in with that group, but they all hated her. I guess this explains a lot of that.

Haha, i just need to throw out there that they're not checking the "entomology" of the word, entomology is the study of insects, the word you're looking gor is etymology. Small thing but as an entomologist it made me laugh and dont take offence it happens so often but ive never seen it in connection with a cult.

I got approached by a JW at my job. I work at an animal shelter. Had NO idea what to say. She started it off by telling me I was a very good person for giving up my weekends for homeless pets, gave me some literature...talked about how messed up the world was. My mind went blank and I'm going "yeah...uh...I hope I can do good, try to make things better for people and stuff..." Nice as she was, they definitely know how to put you on the spot.

I will say it was an interesting place to take the episode. Talking about how they handled things during the war. I like to hear stories of human ingenuity and camaraderie and people banding together. Fighting against a system that oppresses them, showing little acts of kindness in the face of horrible atrocities... Something nice about it.

Hi! Im a studying JW. We can listen to a lot of music. There is just some that we can not listen to like anything that has to do with the devil, spiritism, sexual content, and a few others. Other than that, it's all about your conscience on what you're okay with. Its also between you and jehovah on what you listen to snd these are not our rules. These are the respectable guidelines jehovah has set for his people. There are reasons why we do not listen to certain music, tho. Yes, we do sing original songs at every congregation meeting that we have 2x a week, and yes, we listen to the original music outside of our congregation meetings. Also, the watch tower is the name of our article we read every sunday at our meetings, we are called Jehovah's Witnesses. Please don't mislead people on who we are

The fact that parts of this are like...valid is what might make it more dangerous. It could easily sucker people. Yeah, Caleb needs to be more careful. And if he breaks something or makes a mess he should be expected to help fix it (unless it's something that a kid shouldn't be involved in fixing-). Realizing that the chores being done have reasons behind them is a good thing. "I may not find this fun but if I left my toys out they could get broken. So I should pick them up so that doesn't happen".

So what many of these groups don’t realize is that a shepherd’s rod (the titular rod-) is not for beating. It’s to guide them from wandering off. If a lamb wanders off, you sort of scoop them back towards the flock. Because they could wander off, get lost and get eaten by a wolf. So like, sparing the rod would mean ‘not guiding them away from dangerous things and towards good things’…

Okay, so...the dad points out that acting rashly and sometimes doing the wrong thing is a totally natural reaction to being scared and under pressure, because you're not thinking straight. In the Bible and hell, in the story the dad tells, Jesus is bummed about what Peter does (I mean a friend abandoning you would suck even if you figured they would-) but has like no problem forgiving him for that. So how has Caleb like...never been taught the concept that everyone fucks up sometimes and forgiveness exists because everyone fucks up sometimes? It's kind of a huge deal in Christianity...

19:05 something that always bothered me about this scene was how the husband didn’t consult with his wife on bringing this man home and spending the entire day at this man’s home to CLEAN. Also not considering the kids plans as well. This also adds fuel to the fire on the misogyny front. The wife shall have no say…. Edit: you just mentioned this 😂 👍

The exclusivist and apocalyptic nature of the witnesses is definitely going to end in them finding some fake jesus and trying to send everyone else to hell. They are more convinced than anyone else that they are chosen and special. Christian zionism is dangerous. So we got 2000 years maybe less id say before it gets out of control. Doubtless masons are involved. Bible believers are weird. Jehovah equals 69 in gematria btw. People are akways trying to find some excuse to convince themselves they are better than others and faity in god can be the ultimate in this. The idea of God justifies anything no matter how horrible. They dont need to justify themselves, they just need to say "god" and then everyone has to obey or else. We need a non homophobic non slaughtery bible. You're a really good story teller!

I think the overpopulation issue is mostly shilled by racists and genocidal maniacs in the UN tbh. They just think theres too many brown people. Its roots are in thomas malthus abd the biggest proponents are rosicrucians who i suspect want to kill off everyone but like 144000 worldwide or some other crazy thing promoted by elitists. Working together to end aging is not quite the same as immortality and i think that advancing biology and medicine makes sense. We can always build more land, seejoe quick or use conscious transfer to house minds in computers. Really though we have plenty of space just not landowners who want to share space.

I think they kinda glossed over WHY Sophia needed to befriend older people. Its because she is not allowed to befriend her peers because none are JW, so her only options are people much older than her. Theres nothing inherently wrong with a kid befriending an older girl or a granny, but we gotta realize those are literally Sophia's **only** friends (except the black girl from her class, but shes only a friend conditionally as long as she still studies the bible). It cant possibly be developmentally healthy for a young child to never have friends their own age.
