Can you train them for freefly or real hunting? I love falconry but never see an owl do real hunting

Great video mate I would also advocate for a basic feild craft in falconry as well as telemetry I don’t see enough videos advocating feild craft in falconry

Hi there! Fyi some eagle hunters in western Mongolia are selling the moulted feathers from their eagles to Japanese archers for the making of their arrows. I just learned this a few days ago by having a video of one of the leaders of a falconry organization there, Atay A., translated for me. They used to just throw the moulted feathers away. It is a way for them to make some apparently pretty good money beyond their livelihood from herding and (for some)...and catering to tourism. I find that fascinating. Thanks for the video!

Hi Dave, I've been hit with wing tip oedema. Well I'm pretty sure that is what it is. Caught out by random frosty night. Which is why I'm back watching this video. I can't see how I could have prevented this. If I know there is likely to be a frost I bring George in. He will be in tonight and vet tomorrow. Through them I may get to see an Avion vet. (Not at their practise) At the very least I should be able to get antibiotics. Would an older be more likely to get this as would a younger bird?

I would have done a voice over on the mews brake down. I had the sound on 1% and the bird was still too loud and couldn't hear you one bit so I just put on close captioning but sucks for blind viewers are left out of good knowledge and learning some cool stuff. Just a tip for next time. Your mic was just picking up your bird and not you.

Please be so kind as to reply back to this note, and advise exactly which species of milksnakes you are showing in this video, especially the largest one. It looks like a couple of the smaller ones are Mexican Milks and Pueblan Milks. Is the largest one a South American variety? That would really help with my curiosity and with education in general. Thanks so much.

I was born in Berlin. It is so big, in some areas dirty and nasty but all in all it is definitely one of the best cities to live in. We have so many bars, restaurants, parks, coffee shops, historic buildings, museums and much more. And if you like it a bit more quiet then travel to the outskirts. And i recommend visiting Potsdam and Sanssouci. 🙂 And i see you checked in at a hotel near the Oberbaumbrücke (Oberbaum bridge).

So for a chick under 21 days, i assume they can still have rats and mice inards? I have an owlet under 21 days and was told it must have only chicks, when i said rats and mice are more nutritious,it was arfued against and i was then told if i want to do that i must incorperate them slowly now. Is that the case? Theres too much misinformation and differing opinions out there.

All three are great birds but I would say the harris and red tail are easier to train and keep. Goshawks can be unpredictable, nutty amd very skittish, personally I think goshawks should be for those with a good level of experience not a basic level. I would say goshawks are definitely not a beginners bird.

A couple days ago I found a nestling on my property, I see the hole it fell out of, no sign of the parents for 2 days now. I can’t just let it die, so tonight I brought it inside and fed it some crickets and potato bugs I caught. Tomoro imma go get it some frozen pinky mice. It got its wing feathers but the rest is still fuzzy, it can’t fly yet. I gotta try, if it lives I’ll let it go in my barn and it can live there and eat all the mice.

Hey man.. Thank you for all the information, great video. I have a few questions if you can help out.. I found a little spotted owl by the road with 2 crows attacking it.. I took it home, it's been one week now, she is loose in 2 rooms with a lot of branches set up in places, a big cat scratching tower house and tommorow she's getting (We're getting it in our house 😀) a big part of the tree that will help her for the next few weeks to feel comfy.. I feed her chicken meat and all sorts of liver/hearts for now (The cats can bring me a mouse or two later i guess) and my plan is to take care of her for about one month, when she'll be able to hunt for herselves, then let'er go free near my house (Build her a nesting spot on a big 25M Lime tree) and hope she finds apartner and has a normal Owl life. Is that to naive? She is supper comfetarble with me and my girlfriend during the day, she is pruning herself laying down when she falls asleep, she is steching her wings, and doesn't mind the touch (Looks like she needs it/enjoying it), loves to eat and poop, but at nightime she becomes another animal as you said.. She just wants to get out, she is supper stressed and depressed, she might hurt herself flying arrond.. She is sitting on the window ledge and just looks out with the sadness in her eyes. I have to wake up like 10 times a day, to help her and try to calm her down.. Yesterday i left the light on for half of the night to keep her calm, but she didnt like that in the morning.. Do you have any advice on, how could i return this Owl safely to the wild without leaving too much of a human impact? Will she be able to hunt her own food? The parrents are too far away from my home and i don't know what tree was she on.. Also didn't see any other owls in the area, was looking with the owl on my hand for 20min.. Only crows.. I also hear a lot of crows around my house, is that really a problem for an adoult Spotted owl (Maybe Barred owl)? She is supper gentle and i don't know how she would handle the Crows.. I could help her with the air rifle if i see her in trouble i guess.. Crows are smart, they'll know not to fuck with the owl after that, what do you think? 😀 Great video and much love from Slovenija.. 💚 Sorry for this barrage of questions, I/she need/s help 😅
