Hi Arch, thanks for the great review. I wasn't aware of Achero Sports, so will definitely be paying them a visit. On a side note, I just put a deposit down for an Africa Twin Adventure Sports DCT ES. Let me know if you'd like some riding company in the Tokyo area. Cheers.

Nice video! How did you manage that trip2 resets itself? Mine doesn't, although I've set the tickmark to automatically reset this value...... I saw also something that it has to do with the software version of the TFT. Mine has 125.xxxxxx ; seems that version 126.xxxxx fixes this problem. Anyway, first 1000km almost there on my GSA, so will also let the dealer have a look....
@archjapanmotovlogs15 күн бұрын
You are correct I had a software upfdate already happen so I can't reflect back to the previous version, my dealer is very proactive with the upgrades etc, for example last week I stopped there for a coffee they (my dealer Haneda) immiedately took adv. of this to refit my motorbike with the right side handle bar controller of which BMW global has issued a recall, so I recieved the letter from Japan yesterday however my dealer Haneda has already finished the replacement.

Hi mate, i'm also based in Tokyo and currently weighing up the 1300 GSA versus the Africa Twin, test rode the 1300GS at Haneda and was very impressed. Did you ever consider any other options, and if so how did you decide?
@archjapanmotovlogs28 күн бұрын
Hello mate, happy to hear you took the 1300 for a test spin rode a short ride on mine again today and just loving more each time. It was a life long dream for me to ever own a GS so I am happy to have it now, the only ever bike I have considered is a T7 however that would be for off roading now what I love about the GSA is I can do both and have comfort on both offroad and onroad with the GSA and I love the events that BMW japan and Haneda organize and I have built up a great group of friends now, hope that helps mate 👍
@alexscott391714 күн бұрын
@archjapanmotovlogs thanks for your thoughts, can I also ask how you decided between the GS and GSA? Understand you previously had the GSA, but trying to decide if the fuel range of the GS is an issue in the countryside (particularly Hokkaido). Any other features that made you lean that way?
@archjapanmotovlogs13 күн бұрын
@@alexscott3917 for me it is and will always be fuel anxiety which I've suffered with for a very long time, addtionall can the GSA be adjusted higher and its a longer frame as well from a geometry perspective GS 2212 mm vs GSA 2280 mm

How long have you been in Japan? Sounds like you are fluent in the language. I just bought a 24 R1250GSA, (big savings on a 24 leftover) had a 18 R1200GS before and I really like the big fuel tank of the GSA. Saw the new R1300GSA at the dealer and in person it looks much better than in photos. I hope to take the new 1300 for a test ride when the 1250 goes in for the 600 mile service on the 30th.
