You still will get it. The ability is tied to a commander you own and not a commander you control, so it'll trigger on each of your upkeeps.

@@commandpower1987 the issue is when the beginning of upkeep happens Karona isn't under your control, until the end of the the beginning of upkeep resolves, she still belongs to the previous player. .any additional ability she has that triggers at the beginning of her controllers upkeep is impossible. Her text does change with the background and if it worked it would mean it triggers om every player's upkeep.. But unfortunately because of how the game steps work the new triggered ability will never appear on the stack. I learnt this the hard way from a judge. Definitely a cool deck list! Just something you might want to look into. But the rule also means you can you use the Cultist of the absolute background and never worry about the triggered ability being used to sacrifice her

Also means you can't target Karona with Orzhov Advokist. But again sweet deck, I love seeing someone else's take on Karona! Looking forward to more content

You could make it work with something like Homeward Path, trigger it at the end of your last opponents turn to make sure you control Karona at the beginning of upkeep

Yeah fair point I see what you're saying, that probably doesn't work which makes the card a bit useless unfortunately. Advokist should still work if you stack the triggers correctly though!

I don't think he does much of value in the deck. The problem with Ragavan is he's terrible if you draw him after turn 3 or so. If you were going to include him you might consider removing a spell that we have multiple redundant copies of.

Seems very good in the command zone. Being able to drop multiple land drops gives you extra fuel to recast it for more card advantage.

@@commandpower1987 the issue is the Command Tax will not account for the X So it will get more and more expensive and the tax won’t go into the count of impulse draw. Yeah the extra lands are nice. But this card is more of an enabler than a card to actually build around. If it said exile cards based on the amount mana spent to cast it than it would be great. But with how it is it’ll get more and more expensive for a beatstick with trample that gives you an extra land

I think it can be both. But if you're playing a ramp or land deck and have ways to bounce it a la temur sabertooth seems decent

Entirely different deck styles. Lord of Nazgul tends to be much more of a low to the ground control deck!
