In the market for a new rucksack and the moment this Ali G balloon said that a rucksack is very portable lost me. No shit Sherlock. Just goes to show that some people will say anything if you pay them.

If you had half a brain you’d know what portable actually means. Easy to carry around. A 90l rucksack is not easy to carry around. Second, I bought this rucksack myself. So yeah. Well done fella. Excellent comment

I packed up carp fishing in the early 80’s when I felt it was becoming too commercial & the stuff we made was available in the shops.. then again in the 90’s when I had kids.. it’s always in your blood tho & Ive been back loving it still for over 10 years 😂

When my daughter was born i carried on carp fishing alot, quick over nighters on work nights ect,but i was missing time at home with family, and when i was home i was shattered.not been carp fishing in years now, when me daughter grows up a bit i will get going again maybe.but now i do a bit of lure fishing and feeder fishing down the river ect,and it has been amazing to go back to my original fishing roots.growing up on small rivers,i realised i had forgotten what fishing was all about and that carp fishing was just a small part of it.

Sometimes things happen which just SHOULDN'T happen,,, and that sucks everything out of you. Last week i was on a commercial carp fishery, paid good money for a days fishing.. I was on a platform, netted a fish,,, turned around and went to walk off the platform as my unhooking matt was behind on the grass.... My leg fell down a feffing big hole at the back of the platform and i had a very nasty fall and nearly broke a leg! I made an official note of the incident to the people running the place (Woodlands Lakes - Thirsk N.Yorks) and instead of receiving an apology and perhaps a free days fishing or something for my nasty experience.... they just took the piss! To say i was disgruntled was an understatement, i was beyond fuming! Remember it is their responsibility to make things safe as you are paying.. Anyway the low life trash family abused me on social media and tried to make out i was at fault!!!! Moral of the story is,,, don't get mad, get even!

Burn out can be a difficult beast to battle, but very eye opening at the same time, to see what matters most. Sounds like you’ve made the right choices. 👍 On the opposite side of the world here but at a similar point recovering from burnout and focusing on family and my own fishing. As some of the other comments touched on I enjoy smaller quality creators more than the big brands, subbed. 👌

Unfortunately carp fishing has moved away from angling and continues to do so. They were never my favourite fish but I do still miss those early days of solitude and connection to the environment and that is very very hard to find today. If you are lucky to do so you are very aware the hordes are right behind you. To work in it must have been exhausting. Try out some other species and see if you can find what you're looking for there. Worked for me. Best of luck with future angling

I have been fishing since i was a young kid, i am now 56. When i first got married, i carried on fishing, then we had a son. My fishing virtually stopped! I still watch fishing and go occasionally, but my time spent with my wife and my son are more precious to me. Fishing is important for relaxation, family life is more important to me. Tight lines.

I never got to the level of working in the industry, but I burned out several years back. I felt like I didn't have anything left to do in fishing. It took about 5 years to get back into the groove with maybe a dozen sessions in those years. It's difficult when you've got bills to pay and people relying on you, but sometimes you've got to do something for yourself.
