Micro-calcifications can not be seen by ultrasound and those can be cancerous. Breast ultrasound can be used in conjunction with mammograms but it is not the standard of care for screening the breast.

I hate that they do this to us. I’ve had a lumpectomy and the mammogram techs still won’t do an ultrasound without a doctor’s note or a complaint “requiring” them to do one. If we could sue radiologist for malpractice, I bet they’d be more thorough with screenings. 😤
