It is interesting that Ace mentions 'Quicktime'...this is an Apple video codec. He mentions this while also talking about the 'morphing effect' he made for the last tour. This would indicate that Ace has some video editing knowledge.

Around this time Ace went behind Peter’s back and secured a new contract to be paid $50k per concert and reap a percentage of merchandise royalties.

To think they were already fighting and bitter towards one another. They always projected camaraderie but it was all phony. Wish they could have made it work but Greed, ego and addiction really suck. This will always be my favorite version of the band. Casual fans and younger fans who weren't around in the 70's don't understand how much of an impact they made on the cultural landscape. It sucks to think with all the success they achieved and what they created together that they despise one another.

Very well done report, it didn't just focus on the canceled Kiss show, but other aspects as to why concerts were not so profitable in the early 80's, very rare for an 80's Kiss report to not be cringe worthy, excellent piece!

Paul you got to stop saying "You people". I know you don't mean anything by it. I said it once referring to the group of people I was working with and I got written up because one person thought I was referring to her being singled out as "black". I was the Manager at the time. Just saying people might misinterpret "you people" differently.

My first concert also,KISS and opening act Night Ranger rocked the Centrum.I think it was the first hard rock concert there.

u can thank jimmy carter for the shitty economy then. He drove it into the ground from 1976- 1980.. Reagan then came in and got things going in the right direction, but it takes a couple/ few years to see it. KISS wouldve canceled the show in St Louis too, but all the proceeds were to be given to a local boy with cancer whose parents were poor so, the show went on.. I was at that show, and I don't care what the official number recorded was, but there was only 1,000 ppl there in that hall (Kiel Auditorium) that held 12,000. The hall was literally empty, and it was so depressing to me- and no Ace.. The Plasmatics opened for them, and a lot of ppl were there to see them- not KISS. I walked away from that show thinking this was the end of KISS. Back then bands never lasted more than 10 yrs, and this was the 10th Anniversary Tour, Creatures- Peter had left, and now Ace was gone too. It was a dark time. I was already a depressed teenager, and this just added to it.. I had seen KISS on Dynasty tour a few yrs prior as a 12 yr old, and there's no comparison. The 20,000 seat arena was full for Dynasty, and the show was full of color n excitement. The contrast was stark. So depressing

Paul and Gene always say that Ace and Peter made the same mistakes that drove them out of the band. This press conference is proof on how it’s the other way around. In 96 they got back together and celebrated the band and the music. Once PC hit it was Paul and Gene becoming car salesman deciding what was best for the band to exploit and make the most money. You think Ace gives a shit about promoting the CD rom and website? At this point the Gene and Paul cash machine is in full effect.

In some dates of the Creaturas tour the opening act were The Plasmatics.
